Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Sorrow of the Elves - The Mystery of Pollution

In the mysterious and vast fantasy world, there exist three continents with distinct styles that check and balance each other. One of them is a prosperous place where humans live and multiply, with orderly towns and villages. In the towns, the spires soar into the sky, and the streets are bustling with traffic, full of liveliness. The villages, on the other hand, are surrounded by large tracts of farmland and filled with the joy of harvest all year round. Relying on their unique understanding of wind magic and fire magic, humans have created a brilliant civilization. They can use wind magic to drive windmills and help ships sail swiftly in the wind. They can also utilize fire magic to forge excellent weapons and light up the long night.

The territory of the elves is a dreamy and illusory green world. The dense forest is like an eternal maze. The ancient trees blot out the sky, and the sunlight shines through the gaps between the leaves, forming patches of golden light, just like a fairyland. The elves build exquisite dwellings among the branches and live in harmony with nature. They are proficient in water magic and plant magic. Water magic can make rivers flow continuously and nourish all things. Plant magic enables them to communicate with every plant in the forest, allowing them to control vines for their own use and make flowers bloom with healing power.

Most of the orcs live in the mountainous areas with precipitous terrain and the vast prairies. Their tribes are scattered among the valleys and prairies, and they build solid residences with huge stones and animal skins. The orcs are of burly build and possess astonishing strength. They master earth magic and thunder-lightning magic. Earth magic can make the earth tremble and build solid defensive works, while thunder-lightning magic is their deadly weapon in battle, capable of summoning destructive thunderbolts.

On the edge of the human world, there is a quiet little village called Wind Whisper Village. The village is surrounded by green mountains and clear waters. There is a crystal-clear stream flowing gently beside the village, and the weeping willows along the stream are like green bead curtains that nature has hung for the village. The villagers live a simple and happy life, making a living by farming, hunting, and mining. In the mountain range not far from the village, there is a precious ore vein, which is a treasure bestowed by Mother Earth on humans and contains abundant gems and rare metals. For many years, this ore vein has been an important support for the prosperity and development of Wind Whisper Village. The villagers have lived a prosperous life by relying on mining it to exchange materials with the outside world.

However, as time passes by, the world's resources are becoming increasingly scarce. In the orc territory, successive years of drought and overgrazing have caused the grasslands to gradually turn into deserts, and the minerals in the mountainous areas are almost exhausted. For the sake of survival, the orcs have no choice but to turn their attention to distant places. The ore vein near Wind Whisper Village is like a bright light in the dark, attracting them.

In the orc tribe, a heated discussion is underway. The tribal chief is Guldan, a warrior of the old wolf clan. His eyes are majestic and decisive. He sits on a throne made of huge animal bones, listening to the warriors arguing below.

"Chief, we can't just sit around and wait for death anymore. The ore vein in Wind Whisper Village is our hope," said an eager young orc warrior.

"But that's human territory. If we do this, it may trigger a war," said an elderly orc wise man worriedly.

After pondering for a moment, Guldan stood up. His tall figure loomed over the entire hall, and he said in a deep and powerful voice, "We have no choice. For the survival of the tribe, we must seize that ore vein." His voice seemed like a pronouncement of fate.

Thus, a small team of elite orc warriors set out towards the ore vein near Wind Whisper Village. They quietly crossed the mountains under the cover of night, approaching their target. These orc warriors were all battle-hardened, with their eyes full of eagerness and determination. They were willing to do whatever it took for the future of the tribe.

In Wind Whisper Village, the young magician Lynn was sound asleep. Lynn was a brave and just-minded young man who had shown a remarkable talent for wind magic since childhood. In his dream, he was flying freely in the vast sky, with the wind whistling past him. He was fully experiencing the power and freedom of the wind.

Suddenly, an alarm broke his sweet dream. Lynn jumped out of bed, quickly got dressed, and picked up the magic wand given to him by his mentor. The top of the wand was inlaid with a blue wind gem. Whenever Lynn held it, he could feel the powerful wind element flowing within it.

Lynn rushed out of the house and saw the village in chaos. The villagers were running around in a panic. The warriors picked up their weapons and rushed towards the direction of the ore vein. Lynn knew that enemies were attacking and ran towards the ore vein along with the crowd.

When he arrived near the ore vein, the scene before him took his breath away. He saw a group of tall orc warriors confronting the human patrol. The orc warriors were holding various weapons, some with huge battle-axes, some with sharp spears, and they exuded a powerful wild aura. Although the human patrol had a smaller number of people, they didn't flinch. They held long swords and shields, with firm eyes.

"Why are you orcs invading our territory?" shouted the captain of the human patrol loudly.

"Humph, we need this ore vein to survive. You humans can't have it all to yourselves," replied the leader of the orc warriors.

Neither side would give in, and the battle was on the verge of breaking out. The orc warriors launched the first attack and rushed towards the human patrol like tigers descending the mountain. The human warriors were also fearless and raised their shields to meet the enemy's attack. In an instant, swords clashed, sparks flew everywhere, and the shouts of battle were earth-shattering.

Lynn watched the battle in front of him and knew that he couldn't just stand by. He took a deep breath, raised his wand, and began to recite the incantation of wind magic. As he recited the incantation, the surrounding air started to flow. At first, it was just a gentle breeze, but soon the power of the wind grew stronger. The wind gem on the top of Lynn's wand emitted a dazzling blue light, illuminating the entire battlefield.

"Blades of Wind, appear!" Lynn shouted loudly and waved his wand vigorously. In an instant, sharp wind blades shot out from the wand and flew towards the orc warriors. The wind blades were like transparent scalpels, shining with cold light in the moonlight, cutting through the air at an extremely fast speed and attacking the enemies.

The orc warriors were caught off guard by this sudden attack. Some warriors were scratched by the wind blades, and blood gushed out from their wounds. Some were blown around by the power of the wind blades, and their weapons were also blown away. They looked at Lynn in horror, with surprise and fear in their eyes.

"What kind of magic is this?" The leader of the orc warriors widened his eyes in disbelief that a young human magician could possess such powerful strength.

Lynn didn't answer. He continued to cast wind magic, controlling the wind blades to attack the orc warriors and relieve the pressure on the human patrol. His eyes were focused and firm, fully aware that he had the responsibility to protect the village and the villagers.

Under Lynn's attack, the orc warriors began to feel a bit flustered. However, they were well-trained after all and quickly recovered from the panic. Some orc warriors who were proficient in earth magic cast spells and built earthen walls on the ground one after another, trying to block the attack of the wind blades. Under the effect of their magic, the earthen walls rose rapidly, like solid fortresses, standing in the way of the wind blades.

Seeing this, Lynn frowned slightly. He knew that the earthen walls would weaken the attack effect of the wind blades. So, he changed the way of casting magic and recited a new incantation. The wind blades began to gather together, forming a huge tornado. The tornado was like a giant black python, rampaging on the battlefield. With its powerful suction and destructive power, it easily destroyed the earthen walls and continued to rush towards the orc warriors.

Wherever the tornado passed, it left a trail of destruction. Trees were uprooted, and sand and stones were swept into the air. The orc warriors were swept into the air by the tornado and then thrown hard onto the ground. Their screams echoed on the battlefield. But Lynn didn't soften his heart. He knew that this was war. If he didn't repel the orcs, the villagers of Wind Whisper Village would face a greater disaster.

However, the orc warriors were not completely driven back. Some of the stronger ones among them began to unite and tried to counter Lynn's wind magic. A tall orc warrior stepped forward. He held a huge staff in his hand, and the top of the staff was inlaid with a red gem that emitted powerful magic. He muttered incantations, and a powerful force gushed out from the staff, counteracting Lynn's wind magic.

"Humph, human boy, don't think you can defeat us easily!" shouted the orc warrior loudly, with a defiant look in his eyes, trying to break Lynn's magic attack with his own power.

Lynn felt the powerful force from the other side, but he didn't back down. His eyes became more determined. He increased the output of wind magic, and the tornado became even bigger and fiercer. It collided with the power of the orc warrior, producing a deafening roar.

In this power confrontation, the situation on the battlefield became even more tense. The human patrol and the villagers who came to support were all watching this magic confrontation nervously. They knew that the result of this confrontation would determine the outcome of the conflict.

The collision of wind and power stirred up a violent wind on the battlefield. The surrounding trees were blown askew, and the sand and stones on the ground were swept into the air. Lynn held his wand tightly, with fine beads of sweat appearing on his forehead. He felt tremendous pressure, but his heart was still full of the desire for victory.

Suddenly, Lynn sensed a change in his wind magic. He found that in the confrontation with the orc warrior's power, the power of his wind magic seemed to have been enhanced to some extent. With a thought in his mind, he began to try to guide this new power.

He closed his eyes and concentrated on feeling the flow of wind magic. Under the intense pressure, he found that the wind elements became more active and powerful. He adjusted the incantation and guided the wind elements to converge in a new direction.

In an instant, the wind magic showed new power. The tornado was no longer a single rotation but split into countless small tornadoes. These small tornadoes were like nimble sprites, bypassing the power defense line of the orc warriors and attacking them from all directions.

The orc warriors were stunned by this sudden change. They tried to resist, but the small tornadoes were numerous and fast. Some warriors were hit by the small tornadoes, got caught in them, and were then thrown violently into the distance.

Under Lynn's new wind magic attack, the orc defense line completely collapsed. They began to flee in all directions, escaping from this dangerous battlefield.

Watching the backs of the orcs as they left, They cheered and danced for victory They cheered for the victory and for Lynn's heroic performance. Lynn stood on the battlefield, looking at the orcs who were going away, but there was no joy in his heart. He knew that this small-scale conflict was just the beginning, and a greater crisis might still lie ahead. He looked at the wand in his hand and secretly vowed to protect Wind Whisper Village, this land he loved, and the villagers.

After this conflict, Wind Whisper Village was plunged into a tense atmosphere. The villagers began to strengthen the village's defenses, preparing to deal with possible future attacks. Lynn returned home and started to think about how to further enhance his magic power to meet the more severe challenges in the future. He knew that he had a heavy responsibility, and his magic would be the key to protecting Wind Whisper Village. In this fantasy world full of uncertainties, Lynn's fate was closely intertwined with that of Wind Whisper Village from then on, and his entanglement with the orcs had just begun.
