Chapter 23 - Paul's Training: Controlling Power Abilities

In the world of Armageddon, which was like being shrouded by death, the abandoned factory was the last refuge of the survivors. The place was filled with the atmosphere of despair and hope, and every corner was engraved with the struggle for survival. Ryan, Clare and the other survivors are like travelers groping in the darkness, and Paul is the key figure who has been given a special power that needs to be tamed.

Paul stood on the training ground inside the factory, surrounded by piles of scrap metal and the remains of broken machinery. He clenched his teeth, his forehead veins bulging, his eyes filled with tension and anxiety. The power alien energy in his body was like a raging beast, charging recklessly in his body, ready to break free at any time.

At the beginning of this training, Paul attempted to lift a piece of ordinary-looking metal barbell, which was a rudimentary attempt to train the control of strength. He took a deep breath and slowly squatted down, holding the barbell with both hands. As he began to exert force, the power surged out uncontrollably like a raging flood. The barbell instantly looked like it had been hit by a cannonball, violently bouncing upwards, the speed of which brought up a whistling sound of wind. Accompanied by the tremendous impact, the barbell directly broke through the roof of the training ground and flew into the sky, disappearing from everyone's sight. Dust and debris filled the air, and the people around them dodged as cries of alarm rose up.

"Paul, you need to calm down! Steady yourself first!" Ryan shouted, his voice firm amidst the noise, trying to snap Paul out of his panic.

Paul's face was red, and there was a mixture of fear of losing control of his powers and deep remorse in his eyes. "I ... couldn't control it!" His voice shook a little.

In another training session, they set up a series of target dummies labeled with different power levels and asked Paul to hit the appropriate level of dummy with the appropriate amount of force. Paul looked at the dummies in front of him and tried to concentrate. He walked towards a dummy labeled with a medium power level and slowly raised his arm, preparing to throw a punch. However, the moment his fist came into contact with the dummy, the power ability was like a horse out of control. With a loud bang, the place where the dummy was was blown out into a huge crater, and the ground around it cracked like a spider's web, with debris flying everywhere. A few survivors were knocked to the ground by the wave of air, some were bruised, others groaned in pain. Paul watched in horror, his heart filled with deep guilt.

On another occasion, they simulated dodging an attack by a mutant creature and fighting back. The companion playing the mutant creature lunged at Paul, who was supposed to use moderate force to repel it. But when he made a counterattacking move, the power once again went out of control. The force of his kick not only sent the "mutant creature" flying far away and crashing into the wall, but also triggered the collapse of the surrounding walls. Dust rolled, covering the sky, everyone was buried in a pile of rubble, coughing, shouting intertwined. Paul struggled to stand up in the rubble, his eyes filled with despair and helplessness, he felt like a bomb that could detonate at any time, posing a huge threat to those around him.

During a new training session, they tried a new training method - in a closed but protected space, various complex obstacles were set up, and Paul needed to weave in and out of them and utilize his power powers powers to destroy specific targets while avoiding causing too much damage to his surroundings. Paul entered this space carefully, knowing that this training would be difficult, but he was also eager to find ways to control his powers in it.

At first, he was progressing fairly well, and with his previous experience, he managed to get around a few obstacles and smash a few small targets with just the right amount of force. However, problems arose when he came to a narrow passage. The walls on each side of the passage had a target that needed to be hit at the same time, which required him to split his power into two and control the direction and intensity of the power precisely.

Paul took a deep breath and tried to concentrate. He stretched out his arms and prepared to launch his attack. But just at the moment the power was released, he realized that he had still underestimated the difficulty of this challenge. The power surged wildly between his arms, and the power that should have been split into two even strands became disorganized due to his nervousness. A powerful force recoiled back, cutting into his own body like countless steel knives. Paul only felt a sharp pain, his arms were instantly drenched in blood and his muscles felt like they were being torn apart. His body was also sent flying backwards by the impact of this force, hitting the barrier behind him hard.

He fell to the ground and felt a blackout before his eyes. The sharp pain coming from his wounds made it almost unbearable, and blood kept gushing out from the wounds on his arms, staining the ground around him red. The surrounding companions were stunned at this scene, and Ryan and Clare immediately rushed over.

"Paul, how are you?" Clare shouted anxiously as she quickly took out her medical supplies and began to treat Paul's wounds.

Ryan's brow furrowed as he looked at Paul's injury, his heart filled with worry, but he knew that he couldn't give up now. "Paul, this injury was an accident, but we can't let it get us down. We'll find a better way to control the power."

Paul gritted his teeth and endured the severe pain and said, "I ... won't give up ..." His eyes revealed determination, even though this injury had made him physically and mentally exhausted, the desire in his heart to determination to master the Power Alien ability never wavered.

With the help of everyone, Paul's wound was temporarily treated. This injury made him more deeply realize the danger of the power psychic ability, but it also made him understand that only through more in-depth understanding and training could he truly tame this power. So, after his injury had slightly improved, he went back to the grueling training, trying again and again to reconcile with the power alien energy in his body, trying to bring it under his control.

As the training continued, Paul gradually felt out some of the doorways. He began to try before the force, first in his mind to build a power "valve", imagine through this valve to adjust the size of the force. During a training session on a small target, he was again confronted with an object that required precise control of force. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and slowly opened the "valve" in his mind, letting the power flow out one by one. When he reached out and touched the target, the force was applied to the object in just the right way, and he successfully completed the training. Although only a small progress, but for Paul, is the dawn of hope.

In subsequent training, Paul continued to work hard. He constantly strengthened his awareness of power control in his mind, carefully sensing and adjusting his power output before every action. In the face of various complex training scenarios, he was gradually able to reduce the number of times his power went out of control, and slowly domesticated this "berserk beast"-like power psychic ability.

Although the road is still long, but Paul has taken a key step towards the goal of truly controlling the power of super-normal abilities, bringing more hope to the entire group of survivors. In this post-apocalyptic world, they will continue to fight against their fate, for survival, for the unattainable but near rebirth of multiple civilizations.
