RYLIE
I awoke to the sounds of a door closing; my eyes flew to my door, it wasn't mine. There were the quiet footsteps of someone around the house, Silas surely.
I wondered why he was awake, it was dark outside still. I reached over to the bedside lamp, flooding the room with a dull light. Now that I was awake as well, there was no going back to sleep and I weirdly felt thirsty.
Freeing myself of the blanket, my bare feet touched the cool floor. I shivered a little, the room feeling very cold without the warmth of the blanket, so I gathered the thick material all around me, its fuzzy feel caressing my skin. I hid in its warmth before I headed outside.
A light had already come on in the sitting room and its white rays reached out from under my door, kissing my feet when I neared. Out in the sitting room, my eyes squinted unconsciously, trying to adjust to the bright light.
