Chapter 28 - Between the Shelves

"Hi," I yawned as I passed by Silas to have my seat on one kitchen stool. The morning had come quickly, and the house was filled with sounds of Silas moving about, fixing breakfast.

"Morning," He replied, dropping a plate of eggs and a fluffy bread in front of me.

"Mmm, that looks good." Closing my eyes, I breathed in the smell of freshly baked bread.

"Eat up," Silas ordered. "You're so skinny."

He was right. I had lost a bit of weight, and I didn't have a lot to begin with. It was hard to find time to eat properly with all the training.

"Orion sent word," he said between bites, "the night of the solstice is almost upon us, so training will be suspended until after then."

My spoon paused mid-air. The solstice was important, but the thought of pausing my training was unwelcome. I wanted to keep pushing. "Wouldn't it be best if I continued? I want to continue."
