At last, when the game ended, it was Han Jibai who alone lost.
Tan Bo looked at him with a slightly sympathetic gaze, wondering why provoke Cheng Yi of all people.
Cheng Yi was notoriously vengeful, so on certain matters, no matter how good your relationship was with him, if you provoked him, he would not show you any mercy.
After the game, everyone still wasn't satisfied and clamored to go sing.
"Wait for me for a while, I need to use the restroom," Tan Bo said as he grabbed his phone and walked outside the private room.
A group of wealthy young men laughed and teased, "Always you with all the fuss."
"Get lost, get lost, get lost."
Cheng Yi suddenly felt like smoking, he patted his coat pocket only to remember he had left his cigarettes in the car.
He was about to ask a nearby waiter to buy him a pack of cigarettes when a pair of clean hands reached out, with a cigarette pinched between the index and middle fingers.
Cheng Yi looked up at Han Jibai and hesitated to take the cigarette.
"Waiter, please go buy me a pack of cigarettes."
Cheng Yi gave all the cash he had on him to the waiter, then said, "Keep the change as a tip."
The waiter nodded with a grateful smile, "Thank you, Mr. Yi."
The change was indeed more than his weekly wage.
Han Jibai smiled, silently withdrew his hand, and gave the cigarette to someone else. He seldom smoked except on important occasions.
Han Jibai: "Ah Yi, I know you are upset about what happened that day, but it isn't what you think..."
Han Jibai recounted the events of that day to Cheng Yi without omitting a single word.
Yet, Cheng Yi's expression remained unchanged.
Just then, the waiter returned with the cigarettes. Cheng Yi lit one and then slowly turned to look at Han Jibai. "Now, whatever her relationship with you is, I'm not really interested. If you like her, you should have said so earlier. I could have let her be with you."
Han Jibai looked shocked, his handsome eyes filled with astonishment, "Ah Yi, how can you say such a thing? I like Shasha, and we're about to get married."
Cheng Yi looked at the man in front of him and suddenly laughed, "So what? If we can't be husband and wife, we can still be lovers."
Han Jibai's face immediately soured, "Cheng Yi, you are being unreasonable!"
"Is it really me who's being unreasonable?" Cheng Yi's voice suddenly raised.
Everyone in the private room turned to look at them, not having understood what had happened. They had been fine just moments ago, so why had they suddenly started arguing?
When Tan Bo returned, he saw Cheng Yi about to leave with his phone and quickly intercepted him, "What's wrong? Weren't we going to sing?"
"You guys go ahead, I'm heading back." His expression was extremely grim.
Without waiting for Tan Bo to speak again, Cheng Yi brushed past him and strode out.
Tan Bo, with a look of confusion, walked into the private room and seeing Han Jibai's equally sullen expression, understood what had just happened.
After leaving the club, Cheng Yi didn't hurry to his car but stood by the roadside smoking. His tall, slender figure, clothed in a black shirt and crisp suit pants, drew extra glances from every passerby.
His gaze drifted into the distance, recalling the words Han Jibai had spoken in the private room, and his mood grew even heavier. Whether there was a misunderstanding between him and Xinan or not, what difference did it make?
Xinan didn't like him.
"Mr. Yi?" A gentle and soft voice called out.
Cheng Yi turned around to face the woman, thinking for a while before he remembered where he had seen her.
Seeing the handsome features of the man, Lin Wei felt a slight nervousness, "I was a bit unsure at first, but it really is you."
In fact, when Cheng Yi came out of the club, Lin Wei had recognized him because such outstanding looks and demeanor could hardly belong to a second person.
Seeing Cheng Yi had not yet gotten into his car, standing by the roadside smoking all this time, Lin Wei finally decided to approach and greet him.
Cheng Yi sized up the woman in front of him, who seemed much more pleasing to the eye than last time without the heavy makeup.
"It's you... uh... called..."
"Lin Wei."
Cheng Yi nodded, he genuinely couldn't remember the girl's name.
"Where are you headed?" Cheng Yi actually didn't care what she was going to do, he was just making conversation.
But Lin Wei was thrilled to hear this question and quickly replied, "I just got off work."
"Mm."
Lin Wei quietly observed Cheng Yi for a moment; his eyes were cast downward, the light and shadows outlined his profile, giving his face a cool, indifferent appearance.
Eventually, Lin Wei's gaze settled on his side profile.
"Mr. Yi, your face..."
Cheng Yi took a drag on his cigarette and said indifferently, "It's nothing." After finishing the last puff, he looked at Lin Wei, "Are you heading back to school now?"
Lin Wei thought she had heard wrong and, after being stunned for a while, she realized, "Mm-hm."
"Get in, I'll drive you."
Lin Wei's heart pounded fiercely, her lips quivering, "Thank you, Mr. Yi."
Cheng Yi walked past her and directly got into the driver's seat.
Lin Wei hesitated for a moment before finally opening the back door.
Lin Wei glanced at the car's interior, the ceiling adorned with decorations like stars. Though she didn't recognize the brand of the car, she could feel that it must be very expensive.
Thinking this made Lin Wei even more cautious, sitting nervously throughout the ride.
Before long, Cheng Yi gradually slowed the car and stopped at the entrance of the Film Academy.
After Lin Wei got out of the car with her bag, she softly said to Cheng Yi, "Thank you."
"Mm."
After Lin Wei went in, Cheng Yi didn't hurry to drive away but stared at the entrance of the Film Academy for a while.
It wasn't his first time here, in fact, he had been here many times.
Xinan used to attend this university, and back then, he often came to pick her up after work, parking the car in this very spot.
But now, he would never wait for that girl again.
Cheng Yi slowly withdrew his gaze, started the car, and merged into the traffic.
When Lin Wei returned to her dormitory, she arrived just before the curfew. However, as soon as she entered, she felt that her roommate's gaze was odd, "Is there something on my face?"
One long-haired girl looked at her and said with a smile, "Weiwei, who brought you back just now?"
Lin Wei, as if her secret thoughts were exposed, blushed instantly, "No... nobody."
Another girl chimed in, "Don't pretend, we saw everything when we came back. Wow, Weiwei, you've really snagged a wealthy guy. Do you know how much your ride costs?"
Lin Wei asked, "How much?"
Her roommate mouthed the figure.
Lin Wei was shocked internally; though she had guessed the car was quite expensive, she hadn't realized it was that pricey. She couldn't afford it even if she worked tirelessly for eight hundred years without eating or drinking.
Her roommate said, "Weiwei, could you introduce us to him when you have time?"
Lin Wei knew they just wanted to use Cheng Yi to meet people they normally couldn't.
But Cheng Yi wasn't someone they could just meet whenever they wished. Meeting Cheng Yi today was just a coincidence.
Out of respect for sharing the same dorm room, Lin Wei didn't expose their intentions, "We'll see if there's a chance."
Roommate: "You are so kind, Weiwei."
Lin Wei didn't say anything more, took her change of clothes, and went into the bathroom.
