Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 The Wife in Humble Years (12)

"Dad and Mom won't agree..."

Chen Jin stated this fact, "Especially your parents, if it weren't for my intervention, they would be standing in front of you right now."

As before, once things slipped out of his control, Chen Jin would bring up Su Li's parents.

He was very clear about his status in the hearts of the Su Family's parents, and he could even say that his word would be taken more seriously than Su Li's own words threefold.

However, he seemed to have forgotten that all of Su Li's current actions indicated that she was an independent individual. No one should expect to influence her independent thoughts, not even her own biological parents.

"Then I really appreciate it... But I will explain it to them myself, for now... you just need to sign this agreement."

Su Li was not swayed by Chen Jin's words and even with a faintly polite smile, she took the drafted divorce agreement from the lawyer and handed it to Chen Jin.

Chen Jin looked at his wife, who seemed like a stranger to him, realizing that she was far different from the woman he remembered.

"Aren't you going to think it over? Don't you consider Doudou and Yaya?"

Chen Jin was reluctant to divorce, as a successful elite, maintaining a harmonious family facade was crucial to gaining more trust publicly.

Moreover, considering various factors, he felt that the divorce was more detrimental than beneficial for both of them, but he couldn't understand why Su Li was so resolute this time.

Chen Jin had learned from his parents that Su Li had obtained substantial evidence of his infidelity, although she had not presented it to him yet.

But given Su Li's current attitude, if he didn't agree, he estimated that this evidence would soon appear on the judges' desks.

Su Li smiled and remained silent, slowly waiting as Chen Jin quietly weighed his personal gains and losses and conducted various cost-benefit analyses.

Seeing Chen Jin unresponsive for a long time, the lawyer gestured covertly to Su Li, "Do I need to..."

Su Li slowly shook her head, mouthing quietly, "Don't worry, he will agree."

After a long time, Chen Jin raised his dry eyes and emotionlessly asked Su Li, "If you insist, I can sign..."

"But I won't give up custody of the children..."

In every mother's heart, the child is her most sensitive concern.

For the sake of the children, a mother could make any compromise.

Hearing this, the nearby lawyer couldn't sit still any longer and stepped forward, wanting to speak, but Su Li stopped him.

"Chen Jin, your shamelessness and despicability are beyond my expectations," Su Li coldly said.

Chen Jin smirked, "Xiao Li, you've been unemployed since graduation. Do you know how much Doudou and Yaya cost each month? Can you afford it?"

"Moreover, this house is my pre-marital property. After the divorce, you and the two children won't even have a place to stay... not to mention, your parents don't support your decision either."

"Currently, you are the guilty party, and we have ample evidence to prove that. The judge will also favor the wife in the allocation of assets," the lawyer couldn't help but interject.

Chen Jin ignored the lawyer beside him and just kept looking at Su Li, waiting for her decision.

No wonder Chen Jin was confident in his words. From his memory, during the years of their marriage, the shared assets between them were minimal.

Chen Jin's monthly salary, after covering family expenses, didn't leave much.

As for his investments outside, they were not in his own name but were under the names of Father Chen or Mrs. Chen.

"You don't need to worry about that," Su Li responded calmly to Chen Jin's gaze, "since I can give birth to two children, I can surely support them."

Chen Jin fell silent for a moment and said, "You'll regret it..."

Su Li didn't want to argue about these pointless topics concerning potential regrets in the future.

"Let Dou Ya make their own choice..."

After a few minutes, Su Li agreed to Chen Jin's suggestion.

She understood Chen Jin's thoughts; he was gambling on his own soft heart and reluctance, as well as betting on the children's unseverable affection for their biological father.

------------------------------

In the evening, Dou Dou and Yaya stood between Su Li and Chen Jin.

Yaya was still young, always giggling, continuously climbing onto Su Li. For her, Chen Jin merely represented the concept of "Daddy" and held no practical significance.

Su Li simply asked a question, and Yaya joyfully said, "With Mommy, with Mommy..."

Witnessing this, Dou Dou glanced at his father nearby, then at his mother, and slowly bowed his head as tears streamed down.

"I want Daddy and Mommy together."

That afternoon, his grandparents had come to the kindergarten and told him that if he went with his Mom, he would never see his Dad or grandparents again.

He would just be a kid without a dad, and others would bully him...

But if he went with his Dad, his Mom would stay too.

Dou Dou remembered what his grandparents had told him that afternoon; he didn't want to be a kid who got bullied.

When Su Li heard this from Dou Dou, her heart felt sour, but still, she patiently said, "Daddy and Mommy will still love you, nothing in your life will change. The only difference is that Mommy won't be living with your Daddy."

"Dou Dou..."

Chen Jin, watching all this intensely and in silence, was aware that his parents had gone to the kindergarten and early childhood center that afternoon, even aware that he had instigated this situation.

"I'm with Daddy..." Dou Dou said in a tiny voice, then lifted his tear-stained face, hopeful as he looked at his mother.

With that, Mommy would stay too.

Su Li, disappointed by Dou Dou's childlike words, softened her voice and asked, "Isn't it nice to be with Mommy?"

Dou Dou vigorously shook his head, "Mommy, can you stay with Dou Dou? And with Daddy too..."

To Chen Jin's surprise, Su Li rubbed Dou Dou's head, stood up, and said, "I'm sorry, Dou Dou, Mommy can't live with your Daddy anymore."

"If you miss Mommy, I will come to pick you up to stay later."

At that moment, Su Li's words were definitive, leaving no room for Chen Jin to argue.

That very night, Su Li took Yaya, packed their suitcases, and amid Dou Dou's loud cries, she turned and left the home she had lovingly built.

Before leaving, Chen Jin, holding the struggling Dou Dou, said gravely, "Su Li, you've changed..."

"Your heart has also grown cold."
