Jisoo's POV:
We're in practice for tomorrow's final match against another university. As the captain, I have to be here, and of course, Lisa and I are the first to arrive—mainly because our teacher kicked us out of class for fighting during the lecture.
"Because of you, idiot, we got a huge lecture from the teacher," I told Lisa while dribbling the ball on the court.
"Ahh, unnie, that's unfair! You fought back too, and I care about the teacher!" she replied, snatching the ball from me.
"You know what? I don't care about the teacher, but I am worried about the lecture we're definitely going to get from Chaeng," I said. She stopped, and yes, Rosé is terrifying. We will surely get an earful when she finds out we got kicked out, and I'm genuinely scared.
"Oh my God, and it's going to be in front of the whole team again. Why does she always scold us in front of everyone? Can't she wait until we get home or alone?" She sighed and sat on a chair.
"Come on, don't sit there! We need to practice, and you ran away yesterday too. The coach will also scold you if you make any mistakes today," I scolded her.
"Don't you think the coach and Chaeng are enough? You should take a break; you'll scold me again later, okay?" she said, which made me smile.
We were practicing when the other players started arriving, getting ready to join us on the field.
"Hey, idiots! You got kicked out of class again?" Seulgi said.
She's our senior but also one of my best friends.
"Of course! How could you expect a full class when Lisa is sitting beside me?" I answered before she could say anything, knowing she would put the blame entirely on me.
"What? Me?" Lisa said, acting as if I'd committed a crime.
"Oh, you think there's another Lisa here?" Yeri asked, looking around dramatically.
"You're lying so openly, unnie. You know what the real reason is, Soul Unnie? Just wait and watch," Yeri teased.
"From the moment we entered that damn class until we got kicked out, she was saying one thing... Jongin? More handsome than me? Hah, there's not even a competition!" She delivered this with exaggerated drama.
"First of all, I don't talk like that! And everyone knows you're a great liar; no one's going to believe you, so shut up and accept that you're the reason we're out here." I said, resuming my practice.
"Okay, I swear on Dalgom if I'm lying! You didn't even say once that there's no competition!" What? This girl really hates my baby—there's no need to bring him into this!
"I'm not saying I didn't say that, but that wasn't the reason we got kicked out. I mentioned that earlier. And don't you dare bring my baby into this again!" I replied, hitting her with the ball, but she caught it effortlessly.
"Wow, nice catch, Lili," Soul complimented her before continuing, "I trust you, Lisa... as usual, Kim self-absorbed Jisoo."
"Enough! So what if I'm into myself? Who isn't?" I replied, glancing at the scoreboard. "You can see the results up there."
Before they could say something ridiculous, I interrupted, "Stop talking; we have a lot to do. Tomorrow's the final, and I don't want to lose. So let's get started!"
"By the way, did you hear about the guest? I mean, who's going to be the chief guest tomorrow?" Soul asked as she took the ball from Lisa and started dribbling toward the basket.
"I heard somewhere it's Mr. Kim again," Yeri said from the dugout. She's not a player, but she comes here often to watch, especially since she's close to Soul.
"Aneeyaa... I don't think so. I heard Uncle isn't in the country," Lisa said. Mr. Kim is Lisa's uncle, but she doesn't get along with her uncle's family. She always has negative things to say about them, calling them rude and selfish, claiming they think they can buy anyone with money. But we don't care about that; we get along well with her mom, who we even call "Mom." She's so sweet and takes great care of us.
"You're the captain; you should know, Ji," Soul chimed in.
I took the ball, scored it in the basket, and turned to them. "Yeah... Sir told me someone will come from their company instead of Mr. Kim, and I was informed that Jongin and I will be welcoming them."
"Oh... why you two?" Soul asked again.
"Because I'm the basketball captain, and he's the football captain," I explained, passing the ball to Jongyoun.
"Of course," Soul replied simply, trying to snatch the ball from her.
"I actually think they should do these kinds of activities with the cheer team," I suggested.
"I agree," Manobyal chimed in.
"Forget about that; we should focus on our practice," Lisa interjected.
"Why not?! Lisa said something valuable for the very first time!" I teased her.
"Unnie..." she complained, hitting the ground annoyingly. "I always say valuable things; you just don't consider them!"
"Of course you should listen to her, Jisoo," Jongyoun teased, adding fuel to the fire.
"We will next time. Now let's focus," I said, and we all started playing.
---
After practicing for half an hour, we decided to take a break.
"I actually want to tell Rosé how you both got kicked out of class," Soul said.
"You wouldn't need to; she was there in class. It was joint class," Lisa replied. I was tired, sipping water, and waved at some girls in the dugout.
"Oh, so we're going to watch a drama later," Soul said, and we both took a deep breath. Of course, she's going to fire on us about that. It's even possible that we won't get to play games tonight.
"It's all because of you." I hit Lisa on the head with my water bottle and started packing my bag.
"Forget about who did this, but before she comes, let's sneak into another class," Lisa said urgently, getting up and grabbing her bag.
