Chapter 7:Engagement
The Heavenly Demon rose to his feet, clapping with delight. "Hahaha! What a remarkable son you have!" His admiration for the fierce battle was palpable, leaving the clansmen of the Heavenly Demon Sect trembling in their boots. Even the first disciple had never managed to impress the Lord in such a way.
Velma, brimming with joy, dashed to her father. "That's the one I want to marry!" she exclaimed. The Heavenly Demon chuckled, seizing his friend Gerald, as they departed from the arena, eager to discuss the day's events. It was a time of celebration for the Void Clan, as their next heir had made them proud, stirring memories of glory days among the three brothers.
After the battle, Damon felt a sense of fulfillment wash over him. He quickly exited the arena, but as he approached the mansion, a woman with flowing black hair blocked his path.
"I've finally found you!" Velma gasped, clutching her chest. She was at a loss for words, utterly captivated by the boy who had ensnared her heart so effortlessly. Yet, there was something extraordinary about Velma; she possessed a unique poison body, and in moments of pleasure, toxins seeped from her skin.
Damon sensed a sudden rush of energy, akin to that of a seven-headed hydra, and before he could react, he leaped into the air, only to feel Velma's firm grip around him. She was a formidable expert at the peak of the Soldier Realm. He struggled to shake her off, but it was futile. "What do you want?" he demanded, frustration seeping into his voice.
Then, a sharp pain radiated through his body, and he realized it was poison. "Is this poison? Let me go!" he shouted. Suddenly, he felt himself plummeting from the sky, activating his Void Walker ability to open a void space. It was the last thing he could do before succumbing to the heavy poison.
In a state of shock, Velma began to cry. "What have I done?" she lamented, desperately trying to help him, but she soon realized she was trapped in the void space.
"Instead of crying, why not bring him here?" a voice urged. Velma looked around, searching for the source, and her gaze landed on a peculiar tree that seemed out of place in their world. Setting her curiosity aside, she lifted Damon and moved closer to the willow tree of imagination. As she placed him at its roots, she watched in horror as the roots began to wrap around him. "What are you doing?" she screamed, but she sensed that any resistance would lead to her own demise.
Calming herself, she noticed a surge of green life energy and purification unfolding around them. "You have the poison body, I see," the willow tree spoke to her, producing a small black core and forced it down her throat. Powerless against the tree, she swallowed the core, feeling it merge with her essence, absorbing the poison and granting her greater control over it. Overwhelmed, she fainted.
Some time later, Damon awakened, breaking free from the roots. The moment he emerged, he noticed Velma. "How dare she!" he seethed, brandishing his axe, ready to take her life.
"You know it's not her fault, right?" the willow tree said, using its roots to restrain him.
"She knows my secret, and you want me to let her live?" Damon retorted, anger flaring within him.
"And if you kill her, what will you tell the Heavenly Demon?" the willow tree replied, soothing his fury. "Do not worry; she won't remember a thing. I also gifted her for managing to enter here."
Damon rolled his eyes. "You gave her a gift for almost killing me?" He tossed a small stone at the tree playfully before turning his attention back to Velma, who, despite her venomous nature, was undeniably beautiful. He scooped her up in a princess carry, his youthful appearance belying the strength he possessed.
As he walked toward her father, the eyes of the guests were drawn to the striking scene. Emily observed from a distance, shaking her head, unwilling to get involved in her brother's schemes until he concluded whatever plan he had.
He approached the meeting room where the Heavenly Demon and Gerald were in conversation. Gently knocking, he heard Gerald call out, "Come in!" But as Damon entered, he nearly fainted at the sight before him.
"Damon! Why do you have Velma in your arms?" the Heavenly Demon demanded, with murderous intent filling the room.
Damon strode forward, unflinching in the face of pressure, and explained calmly, "You see, she didn't want to leave me; she clung to me without realizing that. She is just a fly—why did she have to be so foolish? Hahaha!"
In a flash, the Heavenly Demon leaped from his seat, slashing his sword wanting to chop Damon's head off, fury igniting within Gerald. "How dare you!" Gerald shouted, using Void Steps to appear in front of Damon, redirecting his sword in a fit of rage with void palm, while Damon observed as if watching a circus unfold.
