Chapter 52 - Chapter 52: Nick Fury Reporting In!

After Zola left, Wang Ye engaged in a conversation with Lieutenant Jon to inquire about significant events that had occurred in the outside world over the past decades.

He remembered that it was during this time Captain Marvel came to Earth.

Jon, clearly prepared for this, respectfully handed Wang Ye a file from a pile of classified documents on his desk.

Taking the file, Wang Ye found detailed records of Captain Marvel's arrival on Earth, including the acquisition of alien technology and the secret capture of a Skrull prisoner.

"Oh, this is quite interesting! Jon, bring that Skrull prisoner over here. I want to take a look!"

"Yes, Commander!"

Jon saluted and quickly left.

"The plot's corrective force is astonishingly strong," Wang Ye muttered to himself. "I thought I could change something, but as soon as I left, everything seems to have reverted back to its original track.

Howard and Maria Stark died in a tragic plane crash during a vacation.

General Phillips, overworked, suddenly passed away in his office.

Agent Carter perished during an ambush while on a mission.

Dr. Erskine mysteriously died in his lab!

Unable to control the situation, Bucky and Steve faked their deaths and secretly went into hibernation.

It's all too coincidental! There must be an unknown force behind this, manipulating events in secret. How could those enhanced by the serum die so easily?

It seems this world has undergone some unexpected changes!"

The office was now empty, with only Wang Ye left.

He frowned as he flipped through a red-covered file, page by page.

Meanwhile, Hamm, using a mechanical arm and scanner retrieved from dimensional space, was devouring books at a rapid pace. Heaven knows how many bizarre things Zola had researched over the decades!

Research reports were being carted into the office one load after another by the guards.

Wang Ye set the file on the desk, stood up, and lit a cigar. Looking out through the floor-to-ceiling windows at the bustling crowd below, he pondered over the series of strange coincidences, unable to shake off his doubts.

"Commander, this world is fascinating, with the existence of gods and alien species previously unheard of!"

Hamm was scanning some of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top-secret files, which included records of alien encounters and incidents of gods manifesting in various locations.

"Yes, this world is indeed fascinating—so much so that you can hardly imagine. But they, or it, are not as unattainable as they might seem."

Wang Ye gazed deeply at the scene below. The events of these past years were shrouded in fog, having eluded the surveillance of both S.H.I.E.L.D. and Hydra, yet leaving no flaws.

It was clear the opponent was formidable and highly targeted.

"Commander, all the data has been scanned, archived, and categorized," Hamm said, placing the last research report aside with his mechanical arm.

"Good. Classify all this information as top secret, requiring SS-level clearance for access.

I'll have Jon prepare a massive server cluster for you. Your workload will only increase, and the servers in dimensional space are starting to struggle to keep up."

Wang Ye didn't fully understand these high-tech matters. While he could replicate them, he was too lazy to deal with the details.

Zola—a top-tier talent, a super brain, an indefatigable workhorse, and a god-tier lucky charm—made worrying about such things unnecessary.

At that moment, Jon returned with the Skrull prisoner.

Wang Ye curiously examined the prisoner, restrained with specialized handcuffs and shackles, and covertly replicated the Skrull's shape-shifting ability.

"I've already heard about your reason for coming to Earth, and I sympathize. But I'm sorry, we can't release you. After all, you know too many secrets now."

The Skrull, with a lifeless gaze, seemed to have endured significant suffering and likely didn't even register Wang Ye's words.

"Jon, make arrangements to establish a massive server cluster facility in Zone 3!

Follow Hamm's specifications, and expand it further if necessary."

After some thought, Wang Ye added, "By the way, who is currently the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.?"

This wasn't mentioned in the classified files, likely because it wasn't considered top-secret information.

Oh, poor Fury!

"Commander, it's Nick Fury! His performance metrics were excellent, so he was recommended for the position," Jon responded.

"Take the Skrull to Zola. See if he can extract the shape-shifting ability from him."

After dismissing Jon, Wang Ye changed into a white camouflage combat uniform adorned with two gleaming silver stars—an outfit previously worn aboard the Valkyrie.

Times Square, New York City

Amidst the bustling crowd, a flash of blue lightning rippled through the air, followed by spatial distortions.

Pedestrians hurriedly backed away from the commotion but remained close enough to watch, both fearful and curious.

As the spatial fluctuations grew stronger, a blinding white light appeared, forcing onlookers to shield their eyes.

When the light subsided, Wang Ye, fully equipped in his combat uniform, appeared on the street, "curiously" observing the towering skyscrapers and endless streams of people and cars around him.

Passersby couldn't help but stare, intrigued by Wang Ye's attire.

"That guy looks familiar. Have I seen him somewhere before?"

"Oh, stop it. You're just making excuses to talk to him!"

"Hey, don't you see his shoulder insignia and outfit? You'd better not talk nonsense!"

"So what? Military enthusiasts dress like that all the time. But man, his entrance was dramatic—I thought it was going to be a naked guy!"

Before they could continue their chatter, a series of sharp honks suddenly echoed through the streets.

"Beep-beep-beep!"

Six black SUVs sped down the street, expertly surrounding Wang Ye. A group of men in black emerged from the vehicles, skillfully dispersing the crowd.

A bald man with a single eye, clad in a black trench coat, stepped out of one of the cars, walked up to Wang Ye, and respectfully saluted.

"Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury, reporting to Major General Wang Ye!"

"Major General?"

Wang Ye glanced at his insignia—indeed, he was a brigadier general. Did they give him a posthumous promotion after his "death"?

"Major General Wang Ye, this isn't the place to talk. Let's leave here first."

Nick Fury opened the car door and gestured for him to enter.

Wang Ye nodded and got in.
