Chapter 1 - The Origin

Before the universe was created, there was nothing, not even the concept of nothing, yet somehow, something happened, and reality was born.

What would now be defined as an 'explosion ' happened, and the Origin of creation was born.

But with nothing to make use of that power, it did whatever it wanted, and created a myriad of things endlessly all the time. And everything that was created, was something that would be considered an eldritch abomination by those who came later.

But that's a different story, for a different time. This story, is about a young girl. But we'll get to her later.

For now, we go back to the eldritch creatures. These creatures were at first violent and bloodthirsty, so they killed their brethren, growing stronger by eating their remains, until there were only a few hundred that remained.

As their cannibalistic war ended, they were finally capable of thought, communication and more.

These beings are considered the first gods of the universe. They ruled the beasts that came to be during their war. This period in history is not remembered by historians or even the oldest cultivators of today.

Eventually, they discovered the laws of the universe, which are now called "Daos" and they used this new understanding of the universe to become stronger.

What they did not expect however, was that some of the beings they ruled over, became the very embodiment of these laws.

These incarnations became the first ever cultivators, and as they became stronger and more powerful, they eventually started to fight against the eldritch gods, and over time, they started winning.

Eventually they became the new gods of the universe.

But that couldn't last long. At some point they realised that they could grow stronger if they predated the others, just like the eldritch gods before them.

And so they went to war with one another, starting their own factions and fighting. From three thousand, to only a couple hundred.

Most of them had lost many they considered friends or even family, some had been betrayed by such people. But in the end, there were only two incarcerations that remained as brothers.

They were "Origin" and "Concept" the two most powerful Dao incarnations in existence. Even without predating their other brethren, together they could take them all out.

The remaining hundred or so incarnations didn't like that, and plotted against the two brothers.

And after an extremely brutal and bloody battle, the two brothers had won. Origin predated all of their opponents at the request of Concept.

When all of the bodies had been consumed, the two brothers went back to their original routine, comprehending the Dao.

This was the reason that they were able to win against every opponent that challenged them, they comprehended not only their own Dao, but every other Dao as well.

As for the worlds that they governed, they let them develop on their own.

At some point in time, the worlds had developed enough to the point that they discovered cultivation.

Neither of them cared because none of the beings in these worlds would ever have the potential to surpass them.

Many eons later…

The worlds had developed several thousands of species, races and life forms, all of which had evolved from their primal forms, and had created their own societies.

As for Origin and Concept, they had finish comprehending all Daos, except for each other's.

"Made any progress yet brother?" Concept asked.

"No, it was the same a thousand years ago and still will be a thousand years later, so stop asking." Origin replied.

"Sorry, it's just that I feel like the distance between our comprehension grows more and more as time goes on." Concept states.

"Hahh… you're right, you seem to be able to understand my Dao faster than I can with yours." Origin said.

"I wish I was able to help, but even with my Dao, I am unable to think of a way to do so." Concept responded solemnly.

"Hahhh…" Origin sighed. "… You know… I've been thinking… And I think that you should predate me."

"WHAT!?" Concept shouted. "Brother, do you even know what you're saying?" Concept asked in concern.

"I do, and I've been thinking about it for quite a while now, and I don't have the strength to carry on like this. It would be best for you to do this." Origin said.

"Brother…"

There was a silence between the two as they both contemplated things.

After an certain amount of time, Concept agreed.

"Very well, if you insist that you truly want this, I'll do it." Concept said.

"I do." Origin replied.

Concept sighed as the two brothers stood up to face each other.

"Goodbye."

"Goodbye."

That was all they said to each other before Concept predated Origin.

*BOOOOMMM!!!!!!*

An incredibly thunderous boom was heard throughout the whole universe when Concept finished predating his one and only brother.

As the echoes of the boom faded away, tears started falling down Concept's face, and this was reflected throughout the universe as every world felt his sorrow through the rain that covered every world, even dead ones.

His arms trembled as he did his best to not lash out from his overflowing emotions.

This guilty pain that he felt and the phenomenon it caused throughout the universe lasted decades before he finally got his emotions under control.

When he did, he secluded himself from the universe and finished comprehending the Dao of Origin.

Once he was done he took some time to reflect upon his past, and upon the creation of the universe. He then looked upon the universe itself, and saw the chaos that was cultivation.

There were many different ways that the individuals of the universe used to cultivate, but the man didn't seem to have any feelings about any of it one way or the other.

He spent some time observing the interactions between these cultivators and saw that no matter what, it always ended in blood, war and death.

Having seen enough death in his life, he decided to organise the universe, but he didn't want to be too deeply involved in it, so he sprinkled some things here and there, such as a cultivation method here and a treasure there.

And soon enough, the world of cultivation had stabilised itself.

Deciding to do one last thing for the mortals, he left several inheritances throughout the universe, scattered across the several different realms that housed these cultivators.

Some of these inheritances were small, and only offered a few things. Others were large and grandiose in nature, capable of granting immense power to whoever could get their hands on them. And some were left up to fate, to those who were destined to receive it.

Regardless of whatever size they were, all of them would come with a few things. One, a cultivation manual, two, an item to wield for either offensive or defensive purposes, and lastly, for those destined to inherit, would receive Origin's personal guidance to a certain extent.

That last one depended entirely upon Concept himself, but he would make sure that only those he deemed worthy, would take the inheritance, and wouldn't let anyone else lay claim to it, as he thought it would be the same as disrespecting his decision.

He knew that he was being arrogant, but he also knew that he had every right to be. He was the one in control of everything, and anyone who annoyed him would vanish, as if they never ever even existed in the first place.

So when he decided something, he wouldn't let anyone desecrate his decisions.

And that brings us to now, in a world beneath the heavens, in a small world, where one of his inheritances lay dormant.

The inheritance of the Asura.
