Chapter 3 - Magi Hierarchy

His current strength was equivalent to a peak third-circle Magus. He began to recall the knowledge he'd gathered over the past century about the Magi hierarchy in this world.

In the Magus World, there were Nine Circles of magi, each representing an ascension in power. Apprentices were at the base, categorized as beginners, intermediates, and advanced apprentices. When an advanced apprentice reached their peak, they could draw in magical energy to form a magic circle around their heart, ascending to the level of a first-circle Magus. Though this process sounded straightforward, it was incredibly difficult, with a 99.9% failure rate. But those who succeeded transcended the mundane, achieving a lifespan of 300 years and becoming small powerhouses in their own right.

Second-circle Magi were even more remarkable. With a lifespan of 500 years, they could defy gravity, flying through the air unaided. They were valuable assets in small-scale plane conquests and powerful figures in minor clans or organizations in the Magus World.

Third-circle Magi were terrifying beings, with lifespans of 1,400–1,500 years. They actively participated in inter-plane battles, as the Magus World was but one of countless planes in the universe. They often led small clans or organizations, marking them as some of the most influential individuals within their regions.

Fourth-circle Magi, known as ancestors of small clans or organizations, were exceptionally rare. Capable of living for 4,500–5,000 years, they were powerful enough to locate and invade smaller planes, looting resources with their sheer might. These beings could traverse the endless void outside the Magus Plane with their bare bodies.

Fifth-circle Magi were the powerhouses of mid-sized clans or organizations. A single spell from one of these beings could decimate an entire region. They had a lifespan of up to 12,000 years and could travel the void in search of new planes to conquer, representing the apex of dominance over smaller planes of existence.

Sixth-circle Magi were beings of almost incomprehensible power to those of lower rank. They were considered gods in human form, able to annihilate entire planes with a mere thought. They roamed the endless void as they pleased, venturing deep into its mysteries. However, even they could fall in wars against terrifying entities from planes such as the Endless Abyss, the Nine Hells, the World of Gods, the Blood Plane, the Dragons' Plane, Protoss Race plane, Demonic Beasts star plane and few others formidable planes.

(Note: Lennon didn't know the lifespan of Magi at this level, as it was beyond what he could learn in his century of exploration.)

(Starting from the fourth circle, many Magi sought to extend their lifespans through unique methods, with some fourth-circle Magi rumored to live up to 10,000 years.)

As for seventh, eighth, and ninth-circle Magi, they were nothing short of legends. Lennon knew little about them, save for whispers of their existence. According to rumor, all Magi above the seventh circle formed a singular, large-scale organization known as the Magus Council. This Council dictated everything in the Magus World and stood as its ultimate defense, either leading invasions or repelling invaders when wars erupted.

Lennon pondered the vastness of the Magus World. It was tens of thousands, perhaps hundreds of thousands, of times larger than Earth. Its civilization, honed over tens of millions of years, had conquered tens of thousands of planes, from small-sized worlds to the occasional large one. In the endless void, Magi were infamous as terrifying conquerors, known to loot and burn all in their path. To ordinary races, Magi were akin to monsters—cold, calculating beings who pursued truth, power, and the unraveling of the universe's mysteries. Magi were notorious for their cruel experiments, capturing creatures and races to subject them to unimaginable horrors. To Lennon, they were reminiscent of the mad scientists of Earth.

Every Magus possessed an insatiable ambition—to transcend existence, dominate, pursue universal truths, and conquer countless planes.

This knowledge, pieced together through a century of hard-earned experience, reinforced Lennon's goals. He had come to this world an outsider, but now, with the strength of a peak third-circle Magus and a body that bridged the gap between technology and magic, he was on the brink of something extraordinary. His new form granted him the power to shape the world, to challenge the ancient order, and to leave a legacy unlike any before him.

His journey was just beginning, and he was determined to carve his name into the annals of the Magus World, whatever the cost.
