The captain of the security guards wasn't around, so the vice captain hurried towards Dillon when he was told of who Vanessa's father was.
"Truly, this place doesn't seem like a place someone like you should be in. Come with me and I won't have to involve the police." The vice captain said haughtily, waving his baton threateningly.
Dillon, who had been trying to reach Dahmer without success, sighed silently. Brayden wasn't also answering his phone.
His lazy eyes settled on the vice captain and the entire squad he had brought with him to impress Vanessa.
"I'm here to meet someone. I've tried to reach him, but he isn't answering his phone." Dillon said in a respectful tone, but he sounded totally overbearing.
The vice captain gritted his teeth in anger when he realized he seemed far better than Dillon. This scumbag had no right to talk to him in such manner.
"You're waiting for someone? Pfft! That's what they all say when they come into a place like this. They pretend to be good people, speak politely, but when you take your eyes off them, they steal valuables and make a run for it. So if you know what's good for you, get out of here while you still can!" The vice captain hissed, forcing his eyes wider to look intimidating.
Dillon frowned. He wasn't overdressed and in no way looked like a thief. And from the vice captain's constant glance towards Vanessa's direction, it was obvious to him this man wasn't doing his job because he was supposed to; he was doing it to impress Vanessa.
A mischievous smile tugged at the corners of Vanessa's lips as she thought of something. Then she waved the vice captain aside and said, "Don't be rude. If he insists he came here to see someone, shouldn't you at least ask him who he came to see?"
The vice captain caught the hint in her voice quickly. Knowing where it was heading to, he decided to do his utmost best to entertain her by embarrassing Dillon.
"That's true. I can relay your visit to whichever staff you're here to see." Said the vice captain.
Dillon, who obviously guessed what was running through Vanessa and the vice captain's minds, looked away. If he was right, even Dahmer's secretary wouldn't bother talking to these people.
And as someone who held a higher position than Dahmer, he shouldn't also be wasting his time talking to them.
Just when he was about to say something, his phone rang, and he took it up to see it was a call from Dahmer.
However, before he could answer it, the vice captain reached out and snatched his phone away.
His eyes happened to go to the screen, and he erupted into a laughing fit when he saw the name 'Dahmer Wade' on it.
"Miss Vanessa, this punk seems to be deranged. He must've altered the name of this contact to Chairman Dahmer just now." He laughed, showing the screen to Vanessa.
She laughed as well and turned to Rachel to say in mockery, "It seems he's still trying to win you back. You must've given him some love potion or something. How pathetic."
"That doesn't seem to be all. This phone looks like a very popular brand. Poor guy must've gotten a replica of it to impress girls." One of the security guys chimed in and the others behind him laughed out.
Vanessa took the phone from the vice captain and waved it across Rachel's face. "Whatever you gave to him was really strong. All this to win you back? He must be really in love with you."
Rachel's face turned crimson red in embarrassment when Vanessa kept making those comments, and she rushed over to him to his side, raising her hand to slap him.
The Dillon she knew would just stand aside and let her hit him with a smile. He'd even apologize for provoking him.
But much to her surprise, she held her hand in midair and revealed an unfamiliar, fierce gaze that made her tremble.
"What do you think you're doing? Let go of me, you rascal!" She hissed and struggled out of his grip.
"Hey, this contact keeps calling. Let's pick it and teach whoever it is a bitter lesson." Vanessa suddenly suggested and earned nods from all the security guards.
Rachel glanced behind her. That's right. They still had the advantage here. She may not know how the weak Dillon who got beaten up by James the other night was able to knock out the same person with just one kick. However, she was sure it only happened because James let his guard down.
But even though he had grown stronger, surely he wasn't strong enough to take on this many security guards without sustaining a major body damage.
"Dahmer Wade, was it?" Vanessa asked as she answered Dillon's call.
There was silence on the line for a moment as the man on the other end wondered if this was some kind of test before he cautiously called out, "Mr. Grendel?"
"Mr. Grendel? How much did he pay you to act like the Chairman of Titanium Corporation? Believe me when I say you're in way over your head. The Chairman won't spare you when he gets wind of this. So if I were you, I'd disassociate myself with the scoundrel who owns this number!" Vanessa said at once and ended the call.
In the luxurious interior decor of his Lamborghini, Dahmer took down his phone from his ear with a thoughtful look in his eyes.
If he recalled correctly, Mr. Brayden hadn't said anything about a girlfriend. Or did he not say anything because Dillon asked him not to?
As those confusing thoughts swelled in his head, he stepped harder on his accelerator. The conference meeting he previously was in totally kept him far away from his phone.
Who knew what would've happened if he didn't decide it was time for the meeting, which had dragged on for hours, to end.
Back at Titanium Corporation, Vanessa threw the phone to the vice captain, who dropped it to the floor and stepped on it.
Dillon's eyes darkened.
"My father should be waiting for me. Get him out of here quickly before he becomes an eyesore for others." Vanessa said in conclusion, recalling the reason she was here.
Her father had called her a few hours ago, telling her the Chairman would show up later that day.
With the name Vanessa had made for herself, he believed Dahmer would surely take a liking to her as soon as he set his eyes on her because not only was his daughter beautiful, she was also brainy.
Vanessa also believed in herself. If she comported herself well, she could get a job in Titanium Corporation, which would boost her already high status in school and even society at large even higher.
She walked into the company's building with Rachel, who was more than happy to get a glimpse at what the inside of the building looked like.
As soon as they were done, the vice captain's stiff shoulder relaxed, and he turned to Dillon and spat out in spat, "You heard the lady. You either leave now, or I make you to."
"It cost me a lot to get that phone. Now, I don't care how you do it, but you're going to refund me back that money." Dillon frowned, settling his eyes on the vice captain's face.
"Is that so?" The vice captain scoffed, his boot stomping down hard on the phone, shattering the glass and everything else in the phone.
"The replica probably costs a few dollars. Hold on, I think I have spent change left." Added the vice captain as he reached into his pocket and took out a few wads of money.
"Isn't that too much, vice captain? You're too generous!" One of the security guards stopped the vice captain.
He reached into his pocket and took out some coins then extended it towards Dillon, "Here, this should be more than enough. It should even get you some canned foods for a few days."
The ridicule in his tone was obvious, and if Dillon had sense, it was better for him to just turn and walk away. But much to their surprise, Dillon reached out and took the coins.
He scrutinized them for a moment before carefully slipping them into his pocket.
"Time for you to get out of here." The vice captain hissed, refusing to believe what a fool Dillon is.
"I won't until I meet who I came to meet." Dillon said defiantly.
"I'll just have to throw you out then, after beating you to a pulp." The vice captain hissed and stepped backward, "Beat him up."
The group of security guards whipped out their batons and raised it at Dillon. However, a kick to each of them incapacitated some while knocking others out.
Realizing he'd suffer the same fate as them if he went forward, the frightened vice captain took a step back and tried to escape, when he was dragged back by Dillon and mercilessly stomped on by him.
Just then, a flashy red Lamborghini pulled up into the company's parking lot and a middle-aged man in a gray suit rushed out of it.
His eyes certainly didn't go to the duo, as none of them were dressed like the man he was looking for.
The security guards, who were still conscious, had gotten up and one of them was already dialing the cops' number when this man drove into the parking lot.
"Mr. Wade?" One of them called out, his eyes lighting up, seeing his savior.
The vice captain sighed in relief and quickly called out to him, "Mr. Wade, there's a rascal here who claims he's here to see you!"
Rascal? Dahmer paused and glanced towards their direction again. Surely, the one who stood over the vice captain did look familiar.
Dahmer shuddered when he got a clearer view of the person and confirmed him to be Dillon, the man he was rushing to come see.
"Mr. Wade, don't let him off! He had the audacity to save someone's contact with your esteemed name!" The vice captain yelled, trying to get up.
Dahmer ignored him and hurried towards Dillon. He had a blank look on his face, which assured the vice captain and the security guards that they'd be avenged.
However, the next thing that happened left them speechless.
"Mr. Grendel, forgive me for this great embarrassment I've caused you!"
