Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Dillon Grendel

A figure of 193 cm stood nervously in the elevator, gripping a slightly soaked package nervously. This person was none other than Dillon Grendel, a wretched orphan and delivery boy of a big company called Phantom Delivery.

His expectation was to get a huge tip from whoever owned the package due to the person having a room in Free Desire hotel. A hotel he often heard his roommates talk about. According to them, a night in it ranged from $20,000 to $100,000.

Unfortunately, he doubted the owner would be pleased to get his package soaked. It wasn't his fault as it had rained the night before which left numerous muddy water bodies and potholes all around the road.

He had fallen into an inconspicuous pothole which left his delivery uniform muddy and the package soaked.

The elevator soon came to a stop and slid open.

Hesitantly, he poked his head inside the room which was ajar only to see there was an ongoing party. He wasn't a fan of parties as he'd rather be working to earn money for upkeep.

Hence, he eye-searched for a quiet place to drop the package and leave when his eyes caught sight of someone unexpected.

Not only was this someone here, she seemed to be having a good time as she gave James Roderick, the most popular male student in Yale University, a blowjob.

The same person he had taken up more than ten jobs this week alone just to get the amount of money she requested for to visit the hospital.

It was an understatement to say he was terribly heartbroken.

However, Dillon still refused to believe his eyes as he hurried towards her.

"Rachel! What are you doing here, Rachel?" He asked as soon as he got to her.

Rachel Philip, his girlfriend and one of the top twenty beauties in Yale University, the school Dillon attended as well.

Rachel's eyes fell on Dillon's delivery cloth and her face heated up in embarrassment. She wondered if he wasn't ashamed walking into this party dressed in such manner

"Who are you?" Rachel went on to ask with a straight face.

Her question left Dillon stunned for a few seconds before he muttered loudly, "It's me Dillon Grendel. Your boyfriend, Rachel."

The DJ had turned off the music at some point as everyone's attention was now drawn to the scene. Hence, his response was heard by everyone.

"Rachel, you didn't tell us you had a boyfriend." Someone said, tone laced with disgust, behind Dillon and he turned to see who it was.

He instantly recognized her to be Tina Turner, Rachel's bestfriend.

"Stop joking, Tina. I can't know a wretched person like this."

Just then, someone from the crowd filled them in on who Dillon was.

"This is Dillon Grendel, an orphan who got a scholarship to study at Yale University. He studies economics."

"I've heard of him before. People say he doesn't eat in the cafeteria because he can't afford the cheapest snacks which is a $5 meal." Another chipped in.

"I'm also an economics student and I can testify to the fact he only has three shirts and two pants. This delivery uniform he's putting on makes it his sixth cloth in total."

James pulled up his zipper and got up. He recognized the delivery company Dillon worked for as he was the one whose package Dillon was to deliver.

"Doesn't that mean he's likely to abscond with an expensive jewelry?" He asked with a tight frown.

Tina widened her eyes in surprise as she turned to him and asked, "Please don't tell me whatever he delivered was for you?"

James ignored her and turned squarely to face Dillon. "Where's the package?"

Dillon bit down the insides of his cheeks to stop his tears from falling. All these while, he had worked his butts off to make sure his girlfriend who he had been dating for close to a year had everything she wanted.

Although he didn't always get her everything she wanted, he made sure to provide basic things for her. Like the latest phones, shoes, bags, and jewelry.

He had gotten her all these things by going hungry most of the time, working multiple jobs at once and even refrained from getting himself new things just so he could satisfy her.

"Hey, you answer James when he's talking to you!" Dillon heard and was snapped out of his daze when he felt a stinging pain on his spine.

He was drawn back to the present only to realize he was on the ground as someone trampled on him.

Only then did Dillon recall the reason James was popular. The latter was a known and feared bully. Even the school couldn't counsel him in fear of provoking him and losing their job in the process as his mother was known to be the President of Yale University.

"I said, where did you keep my package!" James yelled, kicking Dillon.

Dillon was naturally a strong lad since he was used to doing menial jobs in order to provide the needs of himself and that of his girlfriend's.

However, everyone could attest to the fact that a number of students from extremely wealthy families all possessed a substantial amount of physical strength and stamina along with some insane abilities.

And James' abilities was his ability to send a chilling fear down the spine of his contenders.

Dillon struggled to speak as he pointed towards a certain direction. "I kept it there."

However, Dillon threw up blood seconds later as James slammed his foot down at Dillon's spine. Then roughly pulled up Dillon and spat into his face, "Do you think I'm daft? You stole my package!"

Dillon panicked when he heard James. Hence, he hurriedly defended himself saying, "I swear I didn't touch it! I didn't even know its content!"

"But you just stumbled in here without my packaging while claiming that my girl is yours!" James hissed, shoving Dillon to the ground once again.

Dillon held onto his side as his eyes settled on Rachel who had dressed up properly, but did nothing to help him. In fact, she seemed to be enjoying the show.

The truth behind her relationship with Dillon was that Tina and the rest of the girls had dared her to date him for a year. Failure to do so was to take them out to a five-star hotel, a money she didn't have to spend.

So she had tried her best to stay with Dillon in secret, convincing him that people didn't need to know of their relationship. She couldn't deny the fact he was tall and ten times more handsome than James, but his poverty overshadowed all those features which is something she can't deal with.

In fact, next week was supposed to mark their one year of being together; the day she would've broken up with him quietly and saved him some dignity. Unfortunately, he just had to embarrass himself today.

She was drawn back to the scene to see James' friends, Mark and Anderson, beating up Dillon who kept insisting he didn't steal James' package.

She didn't feel remorse or the need to help him. In fact, he wished they'd kill him and get rid of him once and for all.

After an hour of beating him up, James, who didn't want his mother to berate him for killing someone, asked Mark and Anderson to stop.

"That package had a jewelry worth two hundred thousand dollars which I bought for my mother. Now it's lost thanks to you." He sighed, stepping closer to a half-dead Dillon.

The room was dead silent.

"You're lucky I can't kill you and because of that you're going to lick t this portion of the floor before I let you go, okay?" James chuckled evilly, drawing an invisible circle near Dillon before straightening up.

He nudged his head towards Mark and Anderson who forced Dillon to lick dirt off the floor just like James asked him.

Dillon forced his eyes open, as he committed the entire features of these three males to memory. Red hairs, tattooed arms and chests, then pierced ears and lips. He'd never forget their faces.

As everyone around mocked him, he felt something electric rush through his body but before he could process the feeling, it disappeared like it never came. And the pains from the beating returned.
