The next morning, the atmosphere at the college seemed normal. Students were laughing, joking, and chatting with each other. No one knew that today was going to be different. Jack, as usual, arrived at the classroom early. He had the habit of being the first one in class and settling into his seat. He was completely calm, but there was that strange depth and restlessness in his eyes.
Meanwhile, Becky was also heading towards the classroom. But today, there was something different about her. Several rowdy students and some senior boys were walking alongside her. There was a strange gleam in their eyes, as if they were waiting for some spectacle to unfold.
The moment Becky stepped into the classroom, the whole atmosphere changed. Jack's eyes froze the moment he saw Becky. A sudden silence spread across the room as all the students stopped talking. The boys who had been walking with Becky surrounded her as soon as she entered.
Jack got up from his seat and slowly walked towards Becky. His voice echoed, "Becky, are these your friends? Or is something new going to happen today?"
Becky glanced into Jack's eyes for a moment, then quickly looked away. "I don't want to talk to you, Jack," she said calmly, but firmly.
A senior student named Jay, who had come with Becky today, stepped forward and said to Jack, "Jack, it looks like you ask too many questions. Don't try to be the hero around here. Just do your work and sit quietly."
Jack looked at the boy with a slight smile and replied, "And who are you to tell me what to do? No one here is going to tolerate your insults or threats."
The clash between Jack and the boy made the atmosphere even more tense. Becky stood in the middle of it all, lost in thought. Fear and confusion were clearly visible in her eyes. Was this just an ordinary day, or the beginning of something far more dangerous?
Jack directly responded to Jay, saying, "Jay, do you really think you can silence me? Don't try to scare me, because I don't eat fear—I spread it."
Jay was taken aback by this. But, seeing Becky there, he tried to suppress his anger and said, "Jack, I'm letting you off today because Becky is here. But if you don't control your mouth, there won't be a good ending."
Jack replied with a light laugh, "Oh, thanks for doing me such a big favor, Jay. But the real question is, do you have the power to stop me?"
Upon hearing this, Jay's anger flared. Without thinking, he slapped Jack across the face. The sound of the slap echoed through the room, and a heavy silence followed.
Becky panicked and stepped forward to stop Jay, but by then, Jay had completely lost control. After receiving the slap, Jack slowly placed his hand on his cheek and looked up at Jay. Instead of anger, there was a strange glint in Jack's eyes.
A terrifying smile crept onto Jack's face. His eyes locked on Jay as he said, "Jay, today your friend Rocky isn't here, is he? What, did he get scared too?"
Jay was shocked by this. He looked around, and Becky also realized that Rocky was absent today. Jack's smile and words made her even more frightened.
Jay, growing angrier, said, "Jack, your words aren't enough to scare me. Whether Rocky is here or not, I can handle someone like you all by myself!"
Just as Jay was about to say more, the professor entered the classroom. He looked at the students, who were all standing, and shouted angrily, "What's going on here? Everyone, sit down, NOW!"
All the students quickly returned to their seats, trembling with fear. But Jack's smile remained unchanged. Becky glanced at him, her gaze lowering. She couldn't help but wonder—was there something strange about Jack, or was this just a coincidence?
Even though the professor had entered, Jay's eyes remained fixed on Jack. His anger was still evident, while Jack sat calmly in his seat, flashing his devilish smile. Jay couldn't stand it anymore.
Suddenly, Jay got up from his seat and stormed over to Jack. Without a word, he grabbed Jack by the throat. The entire class fell silent. The professor, who had been opening his book, shouted, "Jay! What are you doing? Let him go, now!"
Jay, shaking with anger, replied, "Sir, this Jack is irritating me. He's purposely provoking me."
But the professor wasn't in the mood to listen. He snapped in a stern voice, "Jay, this behavior is absolutely unacceptable. You are one of the smartest and most responsible students, but today you've disappointed everyone. Go out of the class, now."
Jay tried to explain, "Sir, I'm telling the truth. Jack is deliberately bothering me. He's provoking me!"
The professor raised his hand to silence him and said angrily, "Do as I say. Leave the class without arguing, and stand outside until my period is over."
Reluctantly, Jay let go of Jack's throat and walked towards the door. Jack was still smiling, that same sinister, devilish smile. As soon as Jay stepped out, Jack quietly said, "Next time, control your temper, topper. Or else, there will be a lot of damage."
Becky was watching all of this unfold with her own eyes. Jay, who was usually calm and sensible, was now forced to stand outside for the first time. The rest of the class was also shocked. They could all feel that there was something strange behind Jack's smile.
The professor looked at the class and said in a stern voice, "Anyone who breaks my rules in this class will stand outside for the entire period. Understood?"
All the students nodded in agreement. The professor then started teaching. But Becky's mind was not on her studies. Her eyes kept drifting towards Jack, and her heart was filled with an unknown fear.
