"You're finally here. I was starting to get a little tired," Toji muttered, raising an eyebrow as his sharp eyes darted to the young man walking toward him.
Liam, unfazed by the infamous Sorcerer Killer's blunt demeanor, chuckled. His steps were deliberate, confident, as if he were walking into a room he already owned. Taking his seat opposite Toji, he offered a polite nod.
Toji leaned back in his chair, his expression a mix of amusement and curiosity. The kid didn't flinch, didn't falter. That was unusual. Most people either cowered or blustered in front of him.
"Hoh," Toji murmured, his gaze narrowing. He didn't need long to size Liam up—sharp, collected, but with the unmistakable aura of a fighter. "You're not just any brat, are you? You've got that same irritating vibe all you Sorcerers carry. So, what's the deal? Spit it out. If the price is right, I'll take your commission."
Without waiting for a response, Toji reached for the half-empty wine bottle on the table, tipping it back with practiced ease. He shook it twice, as though to punctuate his statement, and flagged down the waiter.
"Bring me two more of these," He ordered gruffly. The waiter hesitated, glancing nervously at Liam for approval.
Liam offered a small smile and a nod. "Go ahead."
Toji smirked at that. "So polite. A real gentleman, aren't you?"
He took another swig before setting the bottle down with a dull thunk.
Liam leaned forward slightly, his smile never faltering. "Mr. Toji, how's life treating you after leaving the Zenin Clan?"
The question hung in the air like smoke from a lit match.
Toji chuckled, a low, dry sound. "Why ask a question you already know the answer to?"
His eyes glinted with a mix of derision and curiosity.
"Fair point," Liam conceded. "But I don't claim to read minds. Still, I hear things. Like how you're willing to sell your son to the Zenin Clan for a measly ten million yen. Let me ask you this: if I offer more than your clan, will you sell him to me?"
The casual mention of the deal was like a thunderclap. Lena, standing behind Liam, gasped audibly. "Young Master—!"
Liam raised a hand, silencing her with a single gesture.
Lena's protests died in her throat. She swallowed hard, her hands clenching the hem of her coat as she stepped back.
Toji, on the other hand, barked out a laugh. A real one this time, rich and full of scorn. "Hah! Sure, why not? As long as the money's right, he's yours. But don't say I didn't warn you. If you buy him, you'll have the whole Zenin Clan breathing down your neck. Still interested, kid?"
Liam raised his glass, swirling the wine with a deliberate calmness that only deepened the tension. He took a slow sip, savoring the flavor before setting the glass down with a soft clink.
"You're not selling your son for the money," Liam said quietly, his voice cutting through the air like a blade. "You're selling him because you want him to have a better life. A life you were denied because of your Heavenly Restrictions. Am I wrong?"
Toji's smirk faltered. His grip on the wine bottle tightened as he placed it back on the table, harder than necessary. His expression darkened, the easy amusement draining from his face.
"You've done your homework," Toji said, his voice low and edged with warning. "Now quit dancing around and get to the point. Why am I here?"
"Two hundred million yen," Liam said, his tone light as if he were discussing the weather.
Toji blinked. "What did you say?"
"You heard me," Liam said, his gaze unwavering. "Two hundred million yen. Per year. To work for me."
The room seemed to freeze. Even Kong, standing stoically behind Liam, shifted uncomfortably. Lena's jaw dropped, her shock written all over her face.
Toji stared at Liam, his expression caught somewhere between incredulity and disbelief. Then he laughed—loud, boisterous, almost mocking.
"Hah! Kid, you've got a sense of humor, I'll give you that. Even if you're serious, do you think you can buy me so easily? I can earn that kind of money on my own—"
"I wasn't finished," Liam interrupted smoothly, setting his glass down. He tilted his head, his voice dropping to a near whisper, but each word was as sharp as a dagger. "That's the base salary. If you promise not to sell your son to the Zenin Clan, I'll bump it to two hundred and fifty million. Per year."
The air left the room.
Toji froze, his hand halfway to his wine bottle. The weight of Liam's words settled on him, heavier than any curse he'd ever faced.
"What—?" Toji's voice cracked, and he quickly cleared his throat. "Wait, wait, wait. Two hundred and fifty million? Per year?!"
Liam leaned back, smirking. "That's right. And that's not even the full offer. Say the word, and I'll sweeten the deal even further."
Toji rubbed his temples, his mind racing. This kid—no, this devil—was throwing around money like it was pocket change. For once, Toji was at a loss for words.
"Are you for real?" Toji finally asked, his voice quieter now, almost cautious. "That's... a lot of money."
"It's a lot of trust," Liam corrected him, his tone serious. "I don't just want a hired hand, Toji. I want someone I can rely on. Someone who knows the value of loyalty and strength. And from what I've seen, you're exactly that kind of person."
Liam smiled and tilted his head, supporting with his hand. "I am a man who values talent. And I know how skilled of a guy you are. I need your skills and I am willing to pay the appropriate amount. That's all. You can take your time but make sure to give me a positive answer."
"What type of thing do you want me to do?" Toji asked with an unusual serious face.
Liam stared at him for a few seconds before he grinned and said. "I am planning to turn the Jujutsu Society upside down in the future. I am not confident to achieve it all alone but if I get a few like-minded people then maybe I can do that. So, what do you say? Don't you also want to destroy this despicable society too?"
Toji looked amazed. The more he observed Liam, the more interesting he was getting to him.
'He even knows what I firmly want to do and he is really taking me seriously unlike those heartless bastards who think they are untouchable.'
"And how are you going to do that? If I may ask..." Toji asked, his eyes full of expectations and hope after a long time.
Liam smiled and opened his mouth to explain. "I will show you slowly. First, tell me, did anyone from the Time Vessel Organization seek you out?"
"What about them?" Toji asked confused before he said while scratching his head. "Yeah. They asked me out two days ago. I have a meeting with them tomorrow.
"Good. Accept that task!" Liam smiled mysteriously and told him.
Now, Toji was even more confused. "Why? I think I don't need more money after you give me such an offer."
Liam laughed and slowly explained. "Those selfish bastards want to kill a girl. A girl whose name is Riko Amanai. She is special since she is the Star Plasma Vessel. I really wish that I could save her somehow without killing her but... Alas!"
"Save her? Without killing...?" Toji was dumbfounded as he just could not understand what Liam was saying.
Even Kong and Lena were completely unable to understand what was going through their Young Master's head.
Liam ignored their confusion and addressed Toji. "Also, the place you are currently living in is not safe. I will arrange a house for you close to my place. Transfer your family to that house."
"Even a house?! What an amazing boss!" Toji was amused and could not help but laugh.
