Chapter 9 - 9 A question about heaven

The next day was Sunday. Everyone left for the church. Jack and I cycled behind them saying we would follow.

Aunt's strict instructions came. "Both of them should have attended mass today."

"Sinners must also confess," Charlotte said.

"That priest is a seller of confessional secrets." Jack shot back. "Beware that when you confess, your love affairs will be printed as a novel."

"Your galaxy love will be more beautiful than that."

"What I said is true. A converted Russian once came here and confessed his sins during the Cold War. The priest reported it to Pentagon sources. The CIA is behind the poor guy. Now the Lord knows whether that devotee is in heaven or hell?"

"The Satan's servant works well for Satan," Charlotte said. "Father will faint after hearing your confession."

"Were your ancestors monkeys or humans?" Aunt asked him angrily.

"Aren't the real monkeys better for reason than the fairy garden of Eden?"

My uncle in the car laughed at that.

"There is an unseen soul in your body, it is good to remember that too, informant. I will not give you even the water from home until you confess all these sins." Saying that the aunt got into the car angrily.

Charlotte and Jane looked at us and giggled.

"You just have to taste mom's plum pudding in your mind today." The humor faded from Jack's face as he heard Charlotte say as she went away.

"Well, let's confess today. There's nothing wrong with going to confession for that pudding, which is sprinkled with nuts and fruit a lot." Jack said. "Basically, All living beings, including us, live here to eat. Everything else is just fun when the stomach is full. Intellectuals will come up with many theories. But the ultimate reality is we live to eat and to get food. Every living thing on earth is ultimately fighting for its food. All of our other things such as pride, frenzy, and fun are the thoughts forming when our stomach is full. If there is no food, all of our pride and glory will be gone. We will become beggars begging for food. If such a time comes, the time of great famine. At that time we don't need anything except food. We will throw our jewels, currencies, priceless metals, and stones for a piece of bread. Right or not?"

"Very right."

"Yeah, this is a fact, my dear. All our pride will be melting in such a condition of hunger. Because food is the most valuable thing in this world, there is nothing else. So take care of your stomach. It is a big troublemaker, It can make you good and bad."

We left for the church by bicycle.

Spring came brightly in the calm and beautiful morning air. Leaves and flowers flew away. On that pleasant morning, time felt like a fragrant flower.

Without stopping anywhere, Jack left for the church. I don't know if it was due to the devotion or the admiration for my aunt's delicious pudding. Aunty was waiting for us there.

Jack said in a low voice as the priest lectured about heaven.

"If we get to heaven, life will be miserable there."

I looked at him questioningly.

"How long can a man live by eating only fruits and vegetables? No cola, no ice cream, no burgers, no sandwiches, no sweet donuts, no coveted French fries, just fruit..! How boring will that life be if we eat all this always? Is it or not?"

"I will answer after I go to heaven."

He sighed heavily. A woman sitting beside him glared at him.

"Let me ask a question ?" he asked the woman politely.

They looked at him suspiciously.

"Can we see a movie theater in heaven where you can get anything you want?"

"This cannot be seen in paradise, but it can be seen in hell, for the wildcats like you."
