Chapter 2 - Chapter 002- Struck

Aiden's POV.

"Glanna this is too much" I said, pressing the break, as soon as I saw I saw the red light from the traffic light.

"We've been talking about this for the past three days, babe. She deserves everything she is getting right now. Don't you get it?" she responded, sounding very pissed, which I know she is.

My mind flashed back to what happened that night of our supposed first anniversary. I was supposed to be happy when she signed the papers, but I couldn't shake that feeling of guilt off me. This was probably due to what Glanna had done. When Nora signed the papers, I couldn't help but have this odd feeling that I couldn't explain, a part of me didn't wish she had signed them but it was what I wanted, to be with Glanna, her best friend.

"Babe, it's been 30 seconds since the traffic light green, you need to start moving" I heard a Glanna's voice pulling me back and immediately I pressed on the pedal.

"What's on your mind? You've been off since that Nora left, is this because of her?" She said, sounding hurt.

"No, baby. It is not because of her, I have no reason to think about her. This is about work and what I'm trying to sort out." I reassured her at the same time, trying to reassure myself. As soon as we got to the shopping mall, we could see people in suits rushing to my car, while it seems so impossible to move with their mics and camera, I couldn't help but wonder what all of this is all about, by their dresses I could tell who they are and who did the job by calling them.

"Did you call the press?" I raised my voice which I regretted at the same point but I just couldn't control myself.

"Easy peasy, babe. I did called them, because it's time you show me off to the world, Isn't it?" She asked with a smile, still doing her makeup like she was not concerned.

"This is not how I want to show you to the world, Glanna"

"Glanna? Well, If I wait for you, the day might never come. I've been waiting since our high school days even before that bitch made you hers" She stated angrily, even though, part of what she was saying was right, I still didn't feel cool about the whole thing.

"Don't tell me you are scared of what the headlines would be? That's why I turned to our favour, and apart from that, We've been taking time, sweetheart. The press are waiting for us." She said, with a deep sigh, I knew there was nothing I could do at this point, without much hesitation, I got down from my car. As soon as we stepped down, the flashlights, and camera shown on us like it was kind of award function event.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes internally and the questions the interviewers and press were asking about how and why I felt Nora Lawson.

"This woman here is the only woman I'm happy to be with for the rest of my life, so if you would excuse me we have lots of shopping to do today" I finally said placing a kiss on her head, before they immediately created way for us while we walked to the building.

"Did you see that?" I could feel the happiness in Glanna's voice as soon as we left their midst. A small smile tugged my lips.

"She deserves this, the press meeting" I said to myself even though it sounded like a reassurance.

After what left like three hours of waiting while Glanna did her shopping, she was finally done. I sighed in relief, as soon as I saw her. Seeing the bags of shopping clothes that was with her as she was assisted by most of the workers. At this point, I couldn't help but fidget if she continued to spend like this, I will definitely be broke even before this month runs to an end. I tried counting, but I lost count my I got to the twenty-fifth bag.

"Was she seriously expecting me to pay for that?" I thought trying to keep my cool while beads of sweat formed on my face.

"Babe, you need see how beautiful this clothes are" She said with a sweet smile as soon as she got towards me, placing a kiss on my lips.

"Isn't this too much?" I said not been able to hold it any longer.

"No, it's not. Since we will be using this," she said, bringing out a black card.

"A black card?" I questioned in confusion, I couldn't afford a black card, nor could Glanna, this only met one thing.

"But she already signed the divorce papers," I yelled angrily, bringing the attention of some of the workers and those who were shopping towards us, before I tried to control myself. "You made her sign those papers, why are you still with this black card?"

"Don't tell me you believe I will just give to her because I said she must sign the divorce papers?" She asked looking at me unbelievably before bursting into a laughter.

"This isn't fair in a bit"

"Don't tell me you are pitying the bitch, or do you by chance still still have feeling for her?"

"This isn't about feelings, Glanna. This is about humanity. This isn't proper, you signed an agreement with her"

"There is nothing like signed agreement. Think about this, think about this, Aiden" she said placing her hand on my cheeks, as she continued "Think about how this will change our financial status. Think about our baby, our child" she said as a tear drop out from her face.

"A baby?"

"Yes, I'm carrying your child, our baby. I wanted to make it as a surprise but it seems…. She shuttered bursting into tears.

"Shhh, hush Sweetheart. This is the best decision. Im sorry for whatever I had said, This is the best decision for us for our baby, for our future" I consoled her, hugging her tightly, and at the same time trying to assure myself that we did the right thing.
