Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A New Beginning

The year is 2072 AD. Technology has undergone rapid development, and humans have already begun being capable of traveling to other planets and terraforming them. Countries are no longer at war, the crime rate has significantly dropped, and we don't even need concepts such as schools and education when all necessary information can simply be uploaded to our neurochips. Sounds like a utopia right?

My situation is hilarious when you think about the possibilities that space exploration opens- particularly a larger economy due to the increase in resources available. This makes me yet again question: why am I struggling, dealing with poverty, stricken with constant illness, and having nothing to eat for days at a time when our society is more prosperous than ever before?

We care more about money than we do about our planet and people. We've created a false notion that we live in such a perfect world that it can't be possible for people to suffer. As a result, no one notices the injustices that remained. Soon enough, our planet won't be habitable, but yet again, no one cares because they can live a life of ease and inactivity.

"It's so unfair!" I attempted to exclaim to the world, but I had no strength left; only enough to whisper a few words and the rest to think to myself. No one spared me a glance; they walked past me as if I didn't exist. The old ideals of kindness and helping those in need- values our parents instilled into us, have since faded into history.

"All of this... should just... go to hell.." I whispered as my eyes became too heavy to stay open. The world around me began to fade into a pitch-black darkness, dragging me into a deep, silent slumber. Then suddenly- a cry.

Wah!! Wah!! Wah!!

I groaned in irritation, thinking to myself, "It's too early for this, can someone calm their baby down?"

The incessant cries continued, piercing the air.

Wah!! Wah!! Wah!!

I began to open my eyes, my vision still blurry, "Agh seriously, they're so loud!"

Wah!! Wah!! Wah!!

"Seriously! People are this unbothered now?"

I opened my eyes, and a feeling of comfort yet disorientation washed over me. The once-familiar scent of mud and exhaust was replaced by something much fresher. The air smelled cleaner and more vibrant. My surroundings also differed from the old little broken-down tent I created in the mud. The structures were different, the colors were much brighter, and most importantly- a bunch of unfamiliar faces surrounded me. They spoke a language that I failed to understand. I tilted my head up, and my gaze met a beautiful lady and a handsome man holding me together with tears pouring out of their eyes.

Then it hit me- all of that loud, obnoxious crying, originated from me. I somehow, inexplicably, became a baby again.
