Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: The Show-Off (2)

As soon as Hong Feiqiu made his statement, the crowd erupted in astonishment.

Hunter Liu hadn't even started the gambling match with Xiao Long, and yet Hong Feiqiu had already offered him the position of guest elder?

What an honor, what a stroke of luck!

The onlookers were overcome with regret. Had they known earlier, they would never have hesitated. Even if it meant risking an arm, it would have been a small price to pay for such a prestigious title. Being a guest elder was equivalent to achieving the status of a Tongmai realm warrior. With such a position, one could enjoy countless benefits in the future.

But now, the opportunity was gone. They could only watch Hunter Liu with envy and jealousy, though a few regarded him with admiration. After all, he was the only one who had dared to step forward. Perhaps he sought fame, but at least he had the courage to stand up—something most people lacked.

"Thank you for your generosity, Gang Leader Hong," Hunter Liu said with a polite bow. "But I think you're a bit hasty in offering me such a title. Let me win first, and then we can talk about rewards. As I mentioned earlier, I have my own reasons for stepping in."

Amid the complex stares of the crowd, Hunter Liu declined the offer without hesitation.

"What? He rejected the gang leader's reward?"

"Damn, why would he refuse? If it were me, I'd take it in a heartbeat!"

"What a show-off! He's just pretending to be noble."

The room buzzed with chatter as everyone stared at Hunter Liu, their expressions a mixture of confusion, resentment, and disbelief. Even Song Lei and Zhou Longqi from the Qingshan Gang looked puzzled, unable to fathom what game Hunter Liu was playing. If he truly wanted fame, all he had to do was accept the title—his name would have spread across Poyang City instantly.

"What an interesting young man," murmured Shucheng, who stood off to the side. He studied Hunter Liu with a faint smile and began scrutinizing him more closely.

"Not taking my offer, huh?" Hong Feiqiu was momentarily taken aback but then nodded. "If you're that confident, then I'll be waiting for your victory."

Hong Feiqiu was curious about Hunter Liu's true intentions. However, since Hunter Liu had twice refrained from explaining, Hong Feiqiu decided not to press further.

"You arrogant brat! You dare call me an iron tower? I'll make sure you regret it today. I'll teach you that this 'iron tower' is not something you can look down on."

Xiao Long glared at Hunter Liu, his face darkening with malice. He could sense Hunter Liu's cultivation level—merely the eighth peak of the Body Tempering Realm, not even at the ninth level. Someone like that wouldn't last a minute against him, let alone defeat him.

Hunter Liu approached the gambling table with an easy demeanor, taking his place on the opposite side. He looked at Xiao Long and said casually, "How do you want to play? You decide—I'll go along with whatever."

The simplicity of his words shocked the crowd. Dice games typically revolved around comparing the sum of dice rolls, but there were many variations requiring specific techniques to win. Without extensive practice, victory would be impossible.

Even Liu Huihui and Liu Qin exchanged bewildered looks. Did Brother Hunter actually know how to play dice?

He's just showing off.

For the first time, the term popped into their minds. They knew Hunter Liu well enough to know he'd never played dice before. So what was his plan?

Xiao Long sneered, his anger boiling over. "Fine, I won't let you complain about being tricked. We'll play the simplest game—rolling for the highest total. If you beat me, I'll sever both my arms. But if you lose, I'll personally rip off your right hand. Let's hope you don't pass out from the pain."

"Whatever you say," Hunter Liu replied with a chuckle. "But your arms are too thick. I'll need a blade to cut them cleanly."

In an instant, Hunter Liu's figure blurred. When he reappeared, he was standing in front of one of the Luohong Gang's subordinates, pulling the blade from his hands. Then, like a ghost, he returned to his original position. With a flick of his wrist, the blade stabbed into the gambling table.

"We'll use this blade," he said with a smile.
