Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Chapter 5: Joining the Training Camp

In the sky above Hongning Base City, Liu He directly led Shen Mu towards the elite training camp.

"That's the elite training camp up ahead." Liu He pointed to the large complex of buildings not far away.

As he spoke, the two of them slowly descended at the entrance of the elite training camp. Inside the gate was a giant statue of a Black Dragon, about fifty meters high, which was lifelike, as if a real Black Dragon was lying there.

"Look at those dragon eyes, they come from a real King-level Black Dragon. Ordinary people would be overwhelmed by its aura if they looked into them." Liu He noticed Shen Mu examining the Black Dragon statue and deliberately revealed the secret of the statue to see Shen Mu's reaction.

Hearing this, Shen Mu's gaze fell upon the dragon eyes of the Black Dragon statue. Instantly, Shen Mu felt as if a King-level Black Dragon was staring at him, as if an endless darkness was pressing down. In that moment, Shen Mu also emanated a mysterious aura, vast and fierce, as if two dragon beasts were facing off. In that instant, Liu He, who was beside Shen Mu, tensed up and instinctively entered a state of alertness, feeling as if the person standing next to him was a giant beast that had just awakened.

"Impressive, this Black Dragon is probably not an ordinary King-level monster, right?" The fierce aura from Shen Mu vanished in an instant, and he turned to look at Inspector Liu He beside him.

Looking at the harmless Shen Mu, Liu He even had the illusion that the person in front of him was a terrifying monster in hiding.

"Indeed, ordinary monsters wouldn't require the Grandmaster to take action personally." Liu He nodded slightly, feeling somewhat shocked.

No wonder Shen Mu had such high spirit force talent. The terrifying aura just now was not something ordinary people could possess.

Shen Mu pointed to the display screen on the Black Dragon statue, which showed a list of names and numbers: "This ranking should be the ranking of the training camp students, right?"

"Correct. Everything in the training camp, including resources, needs to be earned through one's own efforts. The higher the ranking, the more resources one can enjoy. Even if you were invited to join the training camp by the Grandmaster himself, it's no exception."

After explaining, Liu He continued, "Let's go, I'll take you to complete the enrollment procedures first."

The buildings inside the training camp were all ancient Chinese architecture, with blue bricks and black tiles everywhere, pavilions and terraces, giving the illusion of truly traveling back in time to ancient times.

Liu He pointed to the giant tower building in the center of the training camp and said, "That's the 'Nine-Story Tower', where all students learn and train, and there are also training rooms from ancient civilization ruins."

"Generally, new students joining the training camp must go to the Nine-Story Tower to undergo an assessment in the Trial Tower. If they fail the assessment, they can only go to the basic training camp. Of course, you don't need to take the assessment. Do you want to go and have a look?"

Having received Hong's attention, Shen Mu naturally had no need to hide: "Sure, then I'll trouble Inspector Liu."

The Nine-Story Tower looked like an ancient Chinese pagoda from the outside, but the interior was filled with a sense of technology, made entirely of a special alloy. The training room was located on the ninth floor of the Nine-Story Tower, in an extremely spacious hall. The floor was covered with mats, and many young men and women were sitting on them, chatting and waiting to enter the gravity room for training.

When Shen Mu entered the ninth-floor hall, everyone casually looked over and saw Liu He beside Shen Mu. They all stood up respectfully to greet him.

"Greetings, Inspector Liu."

Liu He nodded slightly and asked, "Is there still space in the training room?"

Unlike the ancient civilization gravity room, the so-called training room was just a place to connect to a virtual space with consciousness, as long as there was a sensor, so queuing to wait rarely happened.

As soon as Liu He finished speaking, a tall young man with a face like it was carved by an axe or chisel from the crowd glanced at Shen Mu and said, "There's still space, Inspector Liu. This gentleman is..."

Liu He smiled and patted Shen Mu on the shoulder, saying to Chu Qiang, "His name is Shen Mu, also from your Kyoto Base City. You should have already received the news, right?"

Hearing this, the young man's eyes lit up, and he thought to himself, 'As expected.'

"Hello, Junior Brother Shen Mu, my name is Chu Qiang, from the main district of Kyoto Base City. I heard your name last night. Are you interested in working for the military?"

Although Shen Mu only revealed his spirit force talent yesterday morning, today his information had probably spread throughout the major forces, especially the military, which knew everything clearly. After all, his father was a soldier and had already reported the relevant information.

According to the rules of the elite training camp, once a student joined the training camp, any previous contracts with other forces would automatically be invalidated, and anyone could try to recruit them.

Liu He heard this and immediately scolded with a smile, "You brat, trying to poach someone right in front of me? You can discuss it among yourselves when you get back. I'll take Shen Mu to the training room first."

Chu Qiang smiled awkwardly and stopped talking. As someone from the military, he had already received the task to recruit Shen Mu at all costs. As long as Shen Mu was willing to join the military, even the top military figure in China, Jia Yi, could come to the training camp in person to discuss the terms with this monstrous spirit master.

Then, Shen Mu followed Liu He to the deepest part of the ninth-floor hall, where there was a corridor with large rooms on both sides. At the end of the corridor, the room was dimly lit, with two sofas. On the sofas were two consciousness-sensing helmets that looked high-tech, entirely in a dark blue color.

Liu He picked up a helmet and gestured for Shen Mu to put it on: "The training room is a virtual space with 100% realism. You put on the helmet and you can directly enter the Trial Tower space."

Shen Mu nodded slightly, just about to put on the helmet, when Liu He stopped him.

"This is the helmet for fighters to use in training. In the history of the training camp, including you, only four spirit masters have been recruited, so the helmets for spirit masters are usually put away."

Next, Liu He explained the differences between the helmets. After putting on the fighter's helmet and entering the virtual space, everyone would have a body with the same physical fitness: normal punching power of 10,000 kilograms, speed of 150 meters per second, and reaction speed of the primary Warlord level. Putting on the spirit master's helmet would give you a primary Warlord-level spirit master's body: normal spirit force of 8,000 kilograms, with physical fitness at the intermediate Warrior-level standard.

Shen Mu really didn't know this. Although he was a transmigrator, there was no plot in the original story about spirit masters challenging the Trial Tower. He didn't expect this function to exist.

In fact, anyone with a slight understanding of virtual world technology would know that the most difficult part of this technology was the construction of the physical laws of the virtual world and a high enough level of realism. As long as this key point was overcome, flying through the sky, escaping the earth, moving mountains, and overturning seas were just virtual data. If the freedom was high enough, even ordinary people could have the power to destroy the heavens and earth.

As they spoke, Liu He brought over a brand-new helmet, which was dark red. After taking the consciousness-sensing helmet, Shen Mu lay down on the sofa and then put on the helmet. He immediately felt a buzzing in his ears, and then a boundless silver land appeared before his eyes. Hundreds of meters in front of Shen Mu, there was a towering tower that reached into the clouds, with various monster patterns carved on it, a total of seven floors.

In the next moment, Liu He's figure also appeared beside Shen Mu.

"That's the Trial Tower." Liu He pointed to the Trial Tower in front of them and then looked at Shen Mu and asked, "Do you feel the changes in your body?"

Shen Mu nodded slightly. The changes in physical fitness were not very obvious, his strength had slightly increased, and his spirit force had increased a lot.

"My spirit force has become much stronger."

To be honest, Shen Mu's physical fitness was average. Under normal circumstances, once a fighter awakens their spirit force, it would inevitably nourish the flesh, and strength would at least increase by hundreds to thousands of kilograms.

However, in this life, Shen Mu did not have a spirit talent. The reason he had spirit force was because he shared a soul with his Azure Dragon clone, forcibly awakened through the clone's nourishment. Now, Shen Mu's physical fitness was only at the intermediate Warrior-level standard for strength and reaction speed, while his speed was still lacking.

"You can take some time to get used to it now. Once the trial starts, there won't be time." Liu He said with a smile. As they spoke, Shen Mu and Liu He had already arrived at the entrance of the Trial Tower. On both sides of the entrance of the Trial Tower were stone pillars, with inscriptions floating on them.

[Name: Shen Mu

Gender: Male

Identity: Elite Training Camp Student

Trial Tower Level: 1]

"My Trial Tower level is 4.8, and most Speaker are at this level, corresponding to the fourth level C stage of the Trial Tower."

Shen Mu asked curiously, "Who has the highest record in the Trial Tower?"

Liu He did not hide it: "There are three people, Grandmaster Hong, Second Speaker Lei Shen, and Fourth Speaker East. They all reached the sixth level C stage, but did not pass."

"The Third Speaker didn't pass the B stage?" Shen Mu was a bit surprised.

Liu He shook his head slightly: "No, according to the Grandmaster, to pass the sixth level B stage, fighters need to have combat skills and body techniques at the artistic conception realm level, and a force amplitude of 8 times. For spirit masters, they would need to control at least 12 full-power spirit weapons.

As for Grandmaster and Speaker Lei Shen being able to pass the B stage, it's because their martial arts attainments have reached the level of unity between heaven and man, not the ordinary artistic conception level, using technique to make up for brute force."

As Liu He finished speaking, an electronic voice sounded in the Trial Tower space.

"Shen Mu, please choose your combat suit and weapons. Choose within one minute and enter the Trial Tower to commence the test."

One by one, combat suits and weapons appeared before him, each with a different style. Shen Mu casually chose a set of equipment, and instantly, his clothes transformed into the chosen combat suit, and flying knives, weapons, and shields appeared before him.

Shen Mu held a long spear, with flying knives and shields floating behind him: "Inspector Liu, I'm going in."

Liu He nodded slightly, watching Shen Mu's figure disappear into the dark entrance of the Trial Tower.
