Chereads / Rebirth of a Goddess / Chapter 4 - Divinity in School

Chapter 4 - Divinity in School

As Liya reached the home gate, she called out, "Mom, I'm going to school!"

Her mom replied, "Okay, dear. Did you take your lunch?"

Liya nodded. "Yes, mom. Bye!"

As Liya walked to school, Kai fell into step beside her.

"Alright, goddess," Kai said, his tone blunt. "Tell me, why am I here?"

Liya's eyes sparkled. "I created your earth using my powers and the manhwa 'Leveling Up'. The main character, Kai, starts weak but becomes strong after gaining powers and systems in the dungeon."

Kai's brow furrowed. "That dungeon with the temple... is that your temple?"

Liya nodded. "Yes, that's where I gave you my destruction power. You became strong because of it."

Kai's voice dripped sarcasm. "And, of course, you know about my magic because it's yours?"

Liya giggled. "No, silly! As the Goddess of Creation, I just created it this morning!"

Kai rolled his eyes. "You're unbelievable."

Liya's grin faltered for a moment before she continued, "I summoned you because I know the future. A catastrophe is coming, just like in your world. I need your help... or rather, the power I gave you."

Kai's expression turned skeptical. "How can I help? And why do you want your power back?"

Liya's smile turned mischievous. "You can help me without giving back my power, Kai."

Kai hesitated. "I'll think about it, goddess."

Liya smirked.

As they reached the school gate, Liya exclaimed, "Oh, we're already here! I'm not late today, hehe!"

As they walked to the classroom, Kai whispered, "Why is everyone whispering and staring? Is I'm not invisible to them?"

Liya smiled mischievously. "No, Just listen to their conversations, and you'll understand."

Kai leaned in, overhearing snippets of conversation:

"The witch arrived early today... or are we late?"

"Look, the witch is here again, and she's got her unlucky charm with her."

Kai's eyes narrowed. "They're talking about you, Liya. Calling you a witch."

Liya chuckled. "Oh, really? That's sad, hahaha."

Kai raised an eyebrow. "You're not surprised. You already knew, didn't you?"

Liya nodded. "Yes, they're silly."

As they settled into their seats by the window, Kai asked, "Why do they call you a witch?"

Liya leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "Some humans have the ability to see special auras, like mine. I usually hide it, but I accidentally revealed it to a student, and she can see it because of her past life."

Kai's curiosity piqued. "Past life?"

Liya nodded. "In this world, souls carry karma and powers from previous lives in the form of blessings and curses. They can regain old powers from past births, but most humans don't understand it."

Kai's eyes widened. "Intriguing. Who's the girl who can see your aura?"

Liya gestured discreetly. "She's sitting on the first bench, surrounded by those girls."

Kai glanced over. "What do you think her past life was?"

Liya's grin turned sly. "She was a witch. That's why she's attuned to spiritual powers and can read auras. She's also cunning and spreads false rumors about me."

As Kai listened to Liya's story, he felt a pang of sadness. But before he could process his emotions, Demeter arrived, greeting Liya warmly.

"Hey, Liya! How are you?" Demeter asked.

Liya smiled. "Oh, Demeter, you're early today..."

Kai watched as Liya and Demeter chatted like old friends. He sighed, whispering to himself, "I guess it's useless to feel sad for goddesses."

Liya's voice whispered in his ear, "I can hear you, Kai. And I can see you too."

Kai's eyes widened, startled. He had forgotten Liya's ability to hear and see him despite his invisible state.

Liya's playful grin caught his attention, and Kai realized that even goddesses have complex emotions.
