Evelina sat at her desk, trying to focus on the financial projections in front of her. But her mind kept wandering back to last night. The way Leone's hands felt on her, his lips igniting something she'd thought long buried. And then her own hesitation—the guilt and regret gnawed at her.
Isabella's voice snapped her back to reality. "Earth to Evelina. Are you okay?"
Evelina blinked, realizing she'd been staring at the same spreadsheet for five minutes. "Yeah, just… distracted."
Isabella narrowed her eyes but didn't press. "Well, distracted or not, Alessio wants the quarterly report ready by three. Bianca's already asking where the copier is, so don't count on her being much help."
Evelina groaned. "Great. As if today couldn't get any better."
She glanced over at Bianca, who was enthusiastically decorating her desk with an array of pastel stationery and knick-knacks. Evelina stifled a sigh. Why does she have to be so… loud?
