*Chapter 2: The First Meeting*
Aruna's hands trembled as she adjusted the pallu of her saree. Her mother, Nalini, fussed over the perfectly arranged living room, ensuring every cushion and vase was in its place.
"Aruna, beta, come here," Nalini called, her voice laced with nervousness.
Aruna walked into the living room, her eyes scanning the space. Her father, Rajesh, stood near the window, sipping tea.
"Where's Rohan?" Aruna asked, trying to sound casual.
"They'll be here any minute," Rajesh replied, glancing at his watch.
The doorbell rang, and Aruna's heart skipped a beat.
"That must be them," Nalini said, hurrying to the door.
Aruna took a deep breath and followed her mother.
*The Door Opens*
Rohan stood at the doorstep, flanked by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jain. His eyes met Aruna's, and for a fleeting moment, they locked gazes.
"Aruna, this is Rohan," Nalini said, breaking the silence.
Rohan smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Namaste."
Aruna returned the greeting, feeling a flutter in her chest.
As they entered the living room, Aruna noticed Rohan's confident stride, his broad shoulders, and chiseled features. He was handsome, but she refused to let her attraction cloud her judgment.
*Conversation and Observations*
Over tea and snacks, they discussed everything from weather to politics. Aruna observed Rohan's mannerisms:
1. The way he listened attentively to her father.
2. His easy smile when talking to her mother.
3. The occasional glance in her direction, sparking a flutter.
Rohan, too, noticed Aruna's:
1. Quick wit and intelligence.
2. The way her eyes sparkled when laughing.
3. Her elegance in the traditional saree.
As the evening drew to a close, Aruna felt a sense of relief. Rohan seemed kind and genuine, but she still had reservations.
*A Glimpse of Doubt*
As Rohan prepared to leave, Aruna walked him to the door. He turned to her, his voice low.
"Aruna, may I ask you something?"
"Of course."
"Do you believe in arranged marriages?"
Aruna hesitated, unsure of her response.
