The ocean depths had swallowed Kendrik's screams, leaving behind an unsettling silence. Time was running out, with half a day already lost. The brutal manner in which the demon had dispatched Kendrik left little hope for his survival. The sound of bones cracking, them unbearable screams, and the demon's merciless attack all pointed to a tragic conclusion: Kendrik was no more.
But fate, it seemed, had other plans. The demon, far from finished with Kendrik, had dragged him to its lair, where Kendrik lay unconscious, unable to breathe underwater. There was no sign of life in him, and it seemed that Kendrik had indeed failed the punishment challenge.
The demon had entombed Kendrik in a coffin, a grim reminder that time was still ticking away. The countdown continued, each passing hour a stark reminder that Kendrik's fate was all but sealed.
As the darkness closed in around him, Kendrik's life story flashed before his eyes. He had always been reminded that he was a mistake, a curse, born without magic in a world where it was the ultimate measure of a person's worth. The five kingdoms' cruel rule dictated that any royal child born without magic was to be executed or given away as a servant to a weaker kingdom. Kendrik's parents had spared him that fate, but now, it seemed, his luck had finally run out.
In the spiritual realm, Kendrik's consciousness lingered, trapped in an endless expanse of darkness. For a fleeting moment, he perceived himself as blind, unable to see even his own presence. His spiritual aura, a faint echo of his magic potential, flickered like a dying flame, threatening to extinguish itself at any moment.
"Where am I?" Kendrik's echoed through the void, a desperate cry into the unknown. "Am I truly dead? I've lost all sense of sight, and my memories are shrouded in mystery. How did I end up here, and what secrets lie beyond my grasp?"
Kendrik's internal monologue was a jumbled mix of emotions, a reflection of his tumultuous life. Born without magic, he had always felt like an outcast, a failure. Every attempt to prove himself had ended in disappointment, leaving him wondering if his true talent lay in failure.
With a sense of resignation, Kendrik decided to explore his surroundings, hoping to stumble upon a glimmer of light in the darkness. As he tried to stand, he realized that his body felt hollow, as if his physical form had perished, leaving only his spirit behind.
Kendrik's attempts to move forward were hindered by an unseen force, as if something was anchoring him to the spot. "What's holding me back?" he exclaimed, frustration etched in his voice. Despite his efforts, he couldn't shake off the feeling that he was being pulled back, trapped in this desolate realm.
Kendrik felt an unseen force yank him back, sending him tumbling to the ground. He cried out in pain, clutching his head as he struggled to sit up. The repeated blows to his head were taking their toll, leaving disoriented and uncertain.
As he gingerly felt his head, Kendrik heard a clanging sound, like chains crashing to the ground. His curiosity piqued, he looked around, and his eyes widened in shock. He was chained down by heavy lead chains, one wrapped around his neck, and the others binding his legs and hands.
"What the...?" Kendrik's voice trailed off as he tentatively felt the weight of the chains. To his surprise, they didn't feel as heavy as he had expected. Emboldened, Kendrik decided to test his restraints.
He took a cautious step forward, waiting to see if something would pull him back. But nothing happened. Encouraged, Kendrik took another step, and then another. Still, nothing hindered his progress.
With growing confidence, Kendrik started to run, his chains clanking against the ground. He ran for what felt like hours, the darkness blurring around him. But then, on the horizon, he saw a glimmer of hope - a faint, flickering light that seemed to beckon him forward.
Kendrik's glimmer of hope proved fleeting, as the light flickered out, plunging him back into the darkness. The chains binding him began to rattle, emitting a mechanical whir as they were pulled back, Kendrik's heart sank as he realized he was being dragged away from his only hope of escape.
"What's going on?" Kendrik demanded, his voice laced with desperation. But it was too late. The chains retreated, slowly pulling Kendrik back into the depths of the darkness.
Kendrik's instincts screamed at him to run, but as he planted hid foot on the ground, he felt an unsettling presence, as if someone had just touched the chains. A sinister voice echoed through the darkness, sending shivers down Kendrik's spine.
"And where do you think you're going?" the voice sneered.
Kendrik's feet left the ground, and he felt himself bring pulled back away from the light, his escape route slipping further and further away. The force and speed of the chains' retraction were too much for Kendrik to resist. He was powerless to stop himself from being dragged back into the depths of the darkness, forced to start anew.
As Kendrik was dragged back into the darkness, the sinister voice continued to taunt him, its words cutting deep into his heart. "You think you deserve to live? You're nothing! A mistake! A curse! All you deserve is to die!!"
Each word was a knife to Kendrik's soul, and he felt his determination waning. Despite his valiant efforts to resist, he was was slowly being pulled back into the depths of the darkness. The voice's words echoed in his mind, and Kendrik began to believe them. "What makes me special? What do I have to offer the world? I'm just a curse, a mistake..."
Kendrik's spark was extinguished, and he felt himself giving up. But just as all hope seemed lost, a notification popped up:

{Time remaining 02:30 hours minus 24:00 hours}
Kendrik's eyes widened as he realized the countdown was still active. "It's not over yet!" he exclaimed, a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins. "I won't give up! I'll keep fighting, I'll keep pushing! This isn't over until I say it is!!"
With renewed determination, Kendrik planted his feet firmly on the ground. "Let go, or I'll drag you with me!!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the darkness. The chains creaked and groaned, but Kendrik held firm, his muscles straining against the force pulling him back.
Taking a deep breath, Kendrik adopted a runner's stance, ready to launch himself forward. The stage was set for a desperate bid for his freedom.
Kendrik sprinted forward with incredible speed, shattering the chains that bound him. He burst through the light, emerging from the coffin the demon had buried him in. "Hey, twirling face!" Kendrik taunted, flashing a charming smile. "Missed me!"
The demon was caught off guard by Kendrik's sudden resurrection. As Kendrik took in his surroundings, he realized he was in an abandoned ship, surrounded by the demon's other victims - their disembodied bodies stitched together, various parts lying next to Kendrik. The demon, dressed I'm a butcher's apron, face mask, and holding a rusted butcher knife, seemed to have been planning a gruesome fate for Kendrik.
"What were you planning to do?" Kendrik asked, his voice laced with disgust. "You freak!!"
Seizing the initiative, Kendrik speared the demon, sending them both bursting out of the water like a nuclear explosion. They landed on the bottle-piece sand, the demon struggling to breathe. Kendrik realized the demon could only breathe underwater, making it weaker on land.
With renewed strength, Kendrik pummeled the demon with a flurry of punches, each blow landing with precision. The demon stumbled backwards, shrieking in agony.
A notification appeared, urging Kendrik to wrap up things quickly:
[Notification]
{Time remaining: 00:25 seconds minus 24:00 hours}
With time running out, Kendrik ended the fight with a swift kick, snapping the butcher knife from the demon's hand. He then beheaded the demon, its body swallowed by the bottle-piece sand. The vortex in its face splattered water everywhere, leaving behind on a hollow, eerie silence.
