Chapter 20 - 20.Across the ocean

Across the ocean, in the country of Rice.

Inside the presidential office in the White House.

A Chinese newspaper was lying quietly on the president's desk.

The large red letters on the newspaper were particularly bright against the black and white background!

"Good News! Sandaokou University's Nuclear Physics Laboratory's Controlled Fusion Ignition Successful!

"Boom!"

A sound of slapping the desk came.

The presidential desk made of mahogany trembled violently.

"Fxxk!"

An obese middle-aged man with blonde hair sat behind the desk, his face flushed red as he roared sternly, "Damn it!"

"Anthony, can you explain this matter to me?"

Hearing the angry voice of the middle-aged man in front of him, the man known as Anthony took a step forward and shrugged his shoulders while saying with disinterest, "Sir Albert, I don't think there's anything to explain."

"What? There's nothing to explain? This is the reply you give me as the Minister of Defense?!" The muscles on the sides of the blonde middle-aged man's cheeks trembled slightly, and even his blonde bangs trembled twice.

"Tell me Anthony, what did you tell me at that time?"

"Just get Xia out of the ITER program, and we'll be on top of controlled fusion forever." Albert imitated Anthony's speaking accent exquisitely, "If I remember correctly, those were your original words, right?"

Anthony looked at the scene with an ugly face.

"And now? Anthony, tell me what is written in this paper?!"

Albert angrily picked up the newspaper on the table and slammed it on the floor in front of Anthony!

The corners of Anthony's mouth twitched slightly twice.

He lowered his head and looked at the newspaper carefully.

Afterwards, he said in a deep voice, "Mr. President, I can't read Chinese!"

Obviously, this reply from Anthony completely exceeded Albert's expectations.

Albert's mouth opened slightly, looking at Anthony in front of him with an unbelievable face, "Anthony, you ..."

"Good! Very good!" Albert was even exasperated and laughed, "You can't read Chinese, so let me tell you what is written on it!"

"The newspaper says that Xia has successfully conducted a controlled nuclear fusion ignition experiment! You, do you understand?"

Anthony's face was expressionless as he gently nodded, "Uh-huh."

"So?" Albert sneered, "That's your reply to me?"

Anthony took a deep breath, "Your Excellency the President, I hope you take a good look at this report before you speak, instead of just opening your mouth and complaining at me."

"As one of the ITER member countries, Xia has naturally mastered a portion of the controlled fusion technology."

"In my opinion, there is basically no need to worry about this so-called ignition experiment, they are still far from truly mastering controlled nuclear fusion!"

The expression on Albert's face softened by a few points.

A few moments of doubt flashed through his eyes as he calmed down and opened his mouth again to ask.

"What do you mean ..."

Anthony reached out and pointed towards behind himself, "Your Excellency the President, it's better to let the professionals explain these specialized knowledge to you."

With that, Anthony sidled up behind him and said, "Professor Collins, it's your time now."

An old man with gray hair slowly walked up on his crutches and saluted Albert with a respectful face, "Your Excellency the President, how are you?"

Albert's brows furrowed slightly, and after a moment of contemplation, he asked softly, "If I remember correctly, you should be the lead professor who was sent over to ITER a few years ago, right?"

A few moments of excitement flashed in Professor Collins' eyes, "Yes Your Excellency the President, I didn't expect you to remember me!"

Albert gently nodded, his demeanor slightly condescending, "Why, do you want to explain something to me?"

Professor Collins hurriedly nodded, then said with a slightly anxious demeanor, "Your Excellency the President, I think that you don't need to worry about this news from Xia at all."

Albert's eyes twitched slightly, signaling with a hand gesture for him to continue, while he himself adjusted to a more comfortable sitting position.

"I've read Xia's report, and the controlled fusion device they're using this time is a star imitator, not a traditional tokomak device."

Hearing this, Albert's brows furrowed.

The tokomak device was something he had some recollection of.

After all, a large portion of the tokomak devices in the ITER program were manufactured with money paid out by the meter country.

But what the heck was that whatsoever Star Imitation Device ...?

He looked at Prof. Collins in front of him with some doubt: "Professor, the Star Imitator ... you just mentioned"

Professor Collins saw the puzzled look in Albert's eyes and suddenly realized, "Mr. President, you don't need to know what the Star Imitator is, you only need to know one thing, the Star Imitator device, is a device that was eliminated by us."

"The reason for the elimination is simple, its cost is too high, and, the difficulty of manufacturing it is too great, it can easily lead to nuclear fusion failure."

"The star imitator from Summer's Sandaokou University, I can probably guess the source, it should be an imitation star imitator that was close to being scrapped a few years ago over in Country D."

Albert looked at Professor Collins with an incredulous expression, "Are you sure? A scrapped star imitator can also successfully ignite nuclear fusion?!"

Obviously, Albert did not really believe Professor Collins' words.

Professor Collins nodded vigorously, "Your Excellency the President, you should be well aware that the D-countrymen's things are always of good quality."

"I reckon that's why Xia was able to succeed."

"But this kind of outdated contraption is definitely not reliable, therefore, as you can see, Xia's controlled nuclear fusion sustainment time is only as short as two minutes."

"Perhaps you are not aware that the current ITER's tokomak device can already extend the sustaining time of controlled nuclear fusion to 26 minutes!"

These words from Prof. Collins made Albert's stiff face warm up considerably.

"Then ... according to you, the research on controlled nuclear fusion over there in Xia ..."

"Impossible! It is absolutely impossible for Xia to complete research on controlled nuclear fusion on a star imitation device!" Without the slightest hesitation, Professor Collins said decisively, "Star imitators have long been proven to be a thankless path!"

Hearing this, a smile finally appeared on Albert's face.

As long as Xia was unable to master controlled nuclear fusion, the position of the meter country would not be shaken!

"It's just that ... His Excellency the President, there's something I want to talk to you about." A few moments of hesitation flashed in Professor Collins' eyes.

"Speak!" Perhaps because he had just learned of a good news, the corner of Albert's mouth hung a faint smile, gently nodded and said.

"Your Excellency the President, the country of Rice, should also build its own controlled nuclear fusion device." Professor Collins said with an apprehensive face, "We can't keep sharing the results of our experiments with ITER!"

"The next experiment, ITER is ready to extend the controlled nuclear fusion time to more than 30 minutes, if successful ... perhaps, the era of mankind's mastery of controlled nuclear fusion is about to arrive, we, the rice country, should make preparations early."
