Chapter Nine: The Silver Moon - Part Two
From the World's Perspective
The Next Day
Everywhere, whispers filled the air. Yet in the streets and restaurants, people spoke in cautious murmurs.
A woman said in a low voice, "Hey, have you heard? The Lin family has been wiped out!"
Another person responded in shock, "What? The Lin family? That's a big family! How could they be destroyed just like that, without reason?"
A third person, speaking with a voice full of suspicion, interjected, "You don't know anything. I heard the Lin family was slaughtered by an unknown man. This man was brimming with savage energy, and the blood flowed like a river!"
The person next to him, his eyes widening, said, "Did something like this really happen?"
These conversations spread like wildfire, becoming the talk of the town. Everyone wondered who this mysterious figure was that annihilated the Lin family, but the answer remained a mystery.
For the family's sole survivor, Lin Feng, a boy no older than seven, the shock was more than any child could bear. On that fateful night, he lost everything. When he woke up in the hospital, only he and his servant were still alive.
But the story wasn't that simple. Before the massacre that destroyed the Lin family, Lin Feng and his servant had faced another incident. During their travels, they were attacked and left gravely injured by someone else. This attack occurred prior to the one on the Lin family. After being taken to the hospital, they managed to recover some of their strength, but the tragedy was far from over.
Lin Feng, despite his young age, had eyes filled with coldness and hatred. He had lost everything, and the only thought in his mind was to stay alive for revenge. His servant, who stayed by his side, also bore severe injuries, but no one knew the identity of the mysterious attacker. Even after recovering in the hospital, the question remained unanswered.
The hospital was a silent place, its walls bearing witness to pain and suffering. No one knew what awaited them after this second attack that had shattered their lives, but together, they stayed in a safe place, hoping to one day uncover the truth.
Elsewhere: Within the Sect of "The Nine Illusions"
In a secret chamber on the top floor, a mesmerizingly beautiful woman stood before a dignified man. His features were calm and serious, adorned in a deep blue coat with a golden cross emblazoned on his chest.
The woman spoke in a soft, enigmatic tone, "My lord, it seems our original plan is proceeding as expected. However, there's a minor discrepancy… The girl who was supposed to be adopted by the Lin family has disappeared, and her whereabouts are unknown."
The man calmly finished his meal, wiped his hands with a cloth, and replied in a steady voice,
"The plan remains unchanged. Destiny cannot be violated. Even with minor fluctuations, they won't affect the overall trajectory of events. Like a river encountering rocks, it will still flow towards the sea."
The woman hesitated for a moment before asking, "Does this mean we won't search for the girl now?"
He fixed her with his cold gaze.
"There's no need. According to the trajectory, her encounter with the boy will occur at the right time. Her absence now will hasten her growth. For us, this situation is more advantageous than intervening."
The woman nodded slowly, her eyes gleaming with understanding.
"And what about the boy, Lin Feng?" she asked. "Should we keep monitoring him?"
The man's tone grew firm. "Of course. The boy is the key. Isolating him from the world will harden his heart, and that's exactly what we need. Double the efforts to watch him. I don't want him out of our sight."
The enchanting woman bowed in submission. "I will follow your instructions, my lord."
As she left the secret chamber, a wicked smile curled her lips. She murmured to herself,
"The blood that will be spilled will bring us power… Soon, true destiny will reveal itself. Lin Feng, we are counting on you."
From Ryan's Perspective
Time Skip: One Week Later
After a week of preparation and completing all the paperwork, I made my way to the basement, where 16 children were lined up like chess pieces, arranged by age and height.
It had been a week since our first meeting, but during that time, I hadn't found the opportunity to speak with them or learn their names. Frankly, I didn't have time to worry about things like combat techniques or martial skills.
All the skills and techniques they currently possess come from the family library, which is regarded as the best in this world.
Today, my purpose is simple—to learn their names.
To be honest, I don't think I need to introduce myself again; you all know who I am.
Perhaps my young age confuses you. Yes, I'm only three years old. However, my mind is that of an adult.
I assume everyone here already knows about my family.
Yes, that's correct—I'm from the Silver family, a wealthy and influential family with a presence across the three continents.
Now then, I'd like to formally reintroduce myself: My name is Ryan Silver.
"Alright, now it's your turn to introduce yourselves," I said.
The eldest boy and the girls stepped forward, speaking on behalf of the group. "We have no family and don't wish to carry our old names. Why not let you, young master, decide names for us? This is a new life granted to us by you and the leader of the organization. It would be better if the teacher chose names for us."
The children seemed slightly surprised at the suggestion, but the two eldest girls nodded in agreement on behalf of the entire group.
"Very well, if that's your wish, I'll do it," I said, looking over the group.
"From today onwards, you will all be part of the Silver family."
I pointed to an 8-year-old boy with black hair, brown eyes, and a kind, innocent face. "From today, you will be known as John Silver."
The second was a 9-year-old girl with dark black hair and striking emerald-green eyes. She looked directly into mine. She will undoubtedly grow into a stunning lady someday. "You'll be named Mei Silver," I declared.
The third was another 9-year-old girl. She had pink hair and an incredibly cute demeanor. She stepped closer to me and spoke, her voice soft but determined:
"Big brother, thank you for saving us. I promise I'll become strong when I grow up to protect you. Also… I want to become your bride someday."
Her words left everyone in the room stunned.
