Thunder,
A heavy one, like an angry old woman struck again at the odd hour,the dark alleys of Darmoth orphanage creating unpleasant shadows that could quickly send the little ones crying back to sleep,the rain had been adamant since the town's clock struck 10 and had yet to be left satisfied .
The orphanage matron walked hurriedly along the hallways,quickening her pace as she made her way to the night's emergency,Another child had awakened late into the night,it was uncommon but not rare ,the important thing was to get things back in order before morning.Opening the double doors,the matron strode into the room, which to her expectation had become quiet,the other care giver rushing to her side spoke,
"Sister Vivian,sorry for finding out so late,I thought it was a normal fever,never knew the child was awakening "I called the physician he drew my attention to his condition".
"It's okay, Sister Sarah,it's your first time seeing an awakening,Now you know to call me first before anyone,even a physician"Vivian said warning sarah.
Sarah bowing continued,Yes sister,it will not happen again.
Sister Vivian continued,
Mr phillip is well versed with children awakening,but he is not to be trusted,he is still wary of us and the church.We wouldn't want him sniffing into our business.
How's the boy's condition?,Vivian continues asking.
Sarah replying
"Way better,than the past hour,his sister had requested a visit since the afternoon but I refused her audience."
"Good.
The children asks,
He is very sick and needs constant supervision from a physician,inform the other sisters to keep the children from away the room."
"I believe Mr Phillip and I have things to discuss,"sister Vivian saying taking a glance at the teenager boy on bed looking deathly pale and finally walks out of the room.
Leah poked her small head out of the dorm's window,watching the matron come out of the infirmary adjacent to their dorm,her brother had been very odd lately.He slept too much,ate less food and no longer played with her.Even though he rarely ate, he got into a fight and mysteriously won.Her brother had changed a lot,she had mixed feelings about these changes but she never knew it would land him in the infirmary.
He had been very sick in the morning,now he was unconscious and worst Sister Sarah wouldn't even let her see him,she was clueless and worried.Her brother was her only family,she considered herself lucky she had someone to call family in this big orphanage but now David was not here and she was scared,she couldn't sleep at all,hoping her brother recover soon,so they could play together again.
