Chapter 73 - Chapter 73: Pokémon Technology and Unexpected Lessons

The sun had barely risen over the Liyue Harbor, and the air was filled with the salty scent of the ocean breeze. Today was different from most days. Hiroshi had organized a study session at the Liyue Pokémon Center, inviting some of the prominent people from Mondstadt and Liyue to learn more about the technology that had come along with Pokémon. It was about time they dived deeper into the tech side of things.

Inside the Pokémon Center, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. Various people from Mondstadt and Liyue were gathered in a circle, their eyes glued to the devices in their hands. Hiroshi, standing at the front, was explaining the functionality of a Pokédex.

"Alright, everyone! Today, we're diving into how the Pokédex works and all its wonderful features!" Hiroshi said enthusiastically, holding his own Pokédex up for everyone to see.

Amber, sitting next to Jean, leaned over and whispered, "Paimon's going to be so confused about all this tech stuff, don't you think?"

Jean chuckled lightly, nodding in agreement. "It is a lot to take in. But it's fascinating, isn't it? It's amazing how much information this little device holds."

Across the room, Chongyun was staring at his Pokédex with deep concentration, while Duskull floated next to him, peering over his shoulder. Next to him, Beidou had her Mareep on her lap, the little Pokémon resting comfortably as Beidou absently stroked its wool while listening to Hiroshi's lecture.

Hiroshi cleared his throat to get everyone's attention again. "So, everyone, what you have in your hands is not just a book of information. It's an encyclopedia, a map, a training guide, and so much more. For example, you can scan a Pokémon and learn about its level, type, and potential moves." He demonstrated by pointing the Pokédex at a Pikachu standing nearby. The screen lit up, showing Pikachu's stats.

"Pikachu, level 15. Electric-type," the Pokédex announced.

Paimon, who had been floating near Lumine, blinked in amazement. "Whoa, it knows everything about Pikachu! That's incredible!" She turned to Lumine. "Hey, hey, can we scan some more Pokémon? This thing is fun!"

Lumine smiled, holding up her Pokédex. "Sure, Paimon. Let's see who else we can scan."

As they began scanning different Pokémon, Lisa, who was also present, seemed particularly interested in the deeper mechanics of the device. She raised her hand, her eyes twinkling with curiosity.

"Hiroshi, I've been wondering... how does the Pokédex know all of this information? Does it connect to something bigger?" Lisa asked, her tone thoughtful.

Hiroshi smiled, pleased by her curiosity. "Great question, Lisa. The Pokédex is connected to the [Pokémon Popularization System], which gathers data from all registered Pokémon and updates the database in real-time. This is how it has so much information. It's almost like a living encyclopedia."

Lisa nodded, her Misdreavus hovering nearby, seeming equally interested. "Fascinating. It's almost like the ley lines, but for technology," she murmured, jotting down notes in her journal.

Across the room, Beidou was getting a bit restless. She nudged Chongyun, a mischievous grin on her face. "Hey, Chongyun, you think these gadgets can help us battle better? Imagine knowing all of an opponent's moves before they make them."

Chongyun nodded, his expression serious. "It could be a great tool for preparation, definitely. But we shouldn't rely on it too much. We still need to trust our instincts." He gave his Duskull a pat, the ghost-type nodding along.

"Yeah, yeah, I get it. But I still think it's cool," Beidou said, laughing.

**An Unexpected Visit**

Just as Hiroshi was about to continue his explanation, the doors to the Pokémon Center swung open dramatically. In walked Venti, his Chatot perched on his shoulder, the bird squawking in excitement.

"Hello, everyone! I heard there was a gathering here, and I couldn't resist dropping by," Venti said cheerfully, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

Hiroshi sighed, but a smile played on his lips. "Venti, we're in the middle of a lesson. I hope you're not here just to make a ruckus."

Venti put a hand to his chest, feigning offense. "Me? Cause trouble? Never! I'm here to learn, of course." He took a seat next to Amber, who shook her head, amused.

"Alright, then. Let's continue," Hiroshi said, trying to regain control of the room.

Venti, however, had other plans. He nudged Amber, whispering, "Hey, Amber, do you think these Pokédex things could tell us which Pokémon like music? Maybe I could start a band with them. Imagine it—the first-ever Pokémon bard ensemble!"

Amber giggled, trying to keep her voice down. "Venti, I don't think that's how it works... but it does sound like fun. Maybe Chatot can be the lead singer?"

Chatot let out an enthusiastic "Cha!" as if agreeing with the idea.

Hiroshi shook his head, deciding it was best to just let Venti's antics slide. He turned his attention back to the group. "Now, let's talk about Pokémon Centers. These buildings have the latest technology to heal Pokémon, and they're free to use for anyone with a registered Pokémon."

Jean raised her hand. "Hiroshi, how exactly does the healing process work? It seems so fast compared to the traditional methods we use for recovery here in Teyvat."

Hiroshi nodded, appreciating the question. "Good point, Jean. Pokémon Centers use advanced technology that stimulates a Pokémon's natural recovery abilities. The machines are able to identify and treat injuries at a cellular level, speeding up the healing process. It's all done in a matter of minutes."

Jean looked impressed, her eyes widening slightly. "That's truly remarkable. It must be incredibly helpful for trainers who are out exploring and battling frequently."

"Exactly," Hiroshi replied, smiling. "It allows trainers to keep their Pokémon in top condition, no matter how far they travel."

**An Experiment Gone Wrong**

As the lesson wrapped up, Hiroshi decided to end with a demonstration of the Pokémon healing machine. He led everyone over to the Pokémon Center's healing station, where Nurse Joy was standing by with her Chansey.

"Alright, everyone, I'm going to demonstrate how the healing machine works," Hiroshi announced, placing a Pokéball containing a tired Pikachu onto the machine.

Venti, however, had other plans. "Hey, what happens if we put a person on there? Would it heal us too?" he asked, his tone teasing.

Hiroshi shot Venti a warning look. "Absolutely not, Venti. This machine is only for Pokémon. Besides, it's calibrated specifically for their physiology."

Venti sighed dramatically. "Ah, I was hoping for a quick fix for my aching feet. The things I endure as a bard..."

Amber giggled, shaking her head. "Venti, you're incorrigible."

Hiroshi activated the machine, and the group watched as the Pikachu's Pokéball glowed for a few moments before a pleasant chime sounded, indicating that the healing process was complete. The Pokéball opened, and Pikachu jumped out, looking refreshed and energetic.

"Pika!" it chirped happily, running over to Lumine, who bent down to give it a pat.

Jean smiled, her eyes softening. "It's amazing. This technology is going to change everything for us here in Teyvat."

Lisa nodded in agreement, her expression thoughtful. "Yes, and it seems like there's so much more to learn. We're just scratching the surface."

Hiroshi smiled, nodding. "Exactly. Pokémon and their technology have so much to offer us. We just need to keep exploring, keep learning, and keep growing."

**Later That Evening**

As the session came to an end, the group slowly dispersed, some heading back to their homes, while others stayed behind to chat. Beidou approached Hiroshi, her Mareep following closely behind.

"Hey, Hiroshi," Beidou said, her tone casual but her eyes serious. "Thanks for putting this together. I think it's really going to help us all become better trainers."

Hiroshi smiled, nodding. "I'm glad you think so, Beidou. The more we know, the better we can take care of our Pokémon and the world they now share with us."

Beidou grinned, giving Hiroshi a thumbs-up. "You got that right. Now, I'm off to see if Mareep can help me power up my ship's generator. We'll put these Electric-types to good use, you know?"

Hiroshi laughed. "Just don't overdo it, alright?"

Beidou waved as she walked off, Mareep trotting happily behind her. As the sun began to set over Liyue, Hiroshi looked around the Pokémon Center, a sense of satisfaction washing over him. Pokémon had truly become a part of Teyvat, and the people here were embracing them in ways he could have never imagined.

And this was just the beginning.
