Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Ningguang's Strategic Training Day

The dawn had barely broken over the towering Jade Chamber as Ningguang stood by the balcony, gazing out over Liyue. The sea sparkled in the early morning light, and the city's market streets were just starting to stir. Beside her hovered her Rotom, its electric body buzzing with gentle excitement. Today was going to be a productive day—not only for business but for bonding with her Pokémon partner as well.

Ningguang adjusted her elegant robes and looked at Rotom, her lips curving into a soft smile. "Rotom, today we're going to explore how you can help me better manage the affairs of Liyue. You have such a versatile skill set, and I think it's time we put that to good use." Rotom blinked its bright, electric eyes, buzzing cheerfully in response.

The morning started with a meeting in the Jade Chamber's strategy room, where Ningguang had arranged to go over plans for Liyue's economic growth. Typically, these sessions were all about numbers and projections, but today, Ningguang had brought Rotom along to see how its unique abilities could contribute.

Several of Liyue's business representatives were already seated around a grand table, their expressions serious as they reviewed documents. They looked up as Ningguang entered, her presence commanding immediate attention. Rotom floated behind her, sparks of electricity dancing around its body.

"Good morning, everyone," Ningguang greeted, her voice smooth and confident. "Today, I'd like to introduce you to my new partner, Rotom. I believe it can provide some much-needed assistance with our work." She gestured to Rotom, who responded with an energetic hum.

One of the merchants, an older man named Mr. Yan, raised an eyebrow. "A Pokémon, Lady Ningguang? How exactly will it assist us with business matters?"

Ningguang smiled, her eyes glinting with confidence. "Rotom has the ability to interface with electronic devices. With the advances we've been making in incorporating technology into our systems, I believe Rotom can help streamline many of our processes."

To demonstrate, Ningguang motioned to a set of accounting machines on the far side of the room. "Rotom, would you be so kind?" she asked.

Rotom zipped over to the machines, its body shifting into a vibrant shade of blue as it entered one of the devices. The machine whirred to life, and numbers began to flash across its screen at incredible speed, calculating projections and summarizing data in mere seconds.

The merchants exchanged astonished glances, murmuring amongst themselves. Mr. Yan nodded, clearly impressed. "That is quite remarkable. It seems Pokémon truly do have a place in even the most intricate aspects of our work."

Ningguang allowed herself a small, satisfied smile. "Indeed. With Pokémon like Rotom by our side, we can continue to innovate and grow Liyue's economy."

Later that afternoon, Ningguang decided to take Rotom down to Liyue Harbor. She wanted to see firsthand how well Rotom could adapt to assisting in other areas of Liyue's daily life. The marketplace was busy, filled with the vibrant energy of people going about their day. The air was rich with the scent of freshly baked buns and sizzling skewers.

As they walked through the market, Ningguang noticed a small commotion near one of the food stalls. A young girl was standing by a cart, looking distraught as she pointed at a broken food scale. The vendor, an elderly man, seemed unsure of what to do.

Ningguang approached them, her presence immediately drawing attention. "Is there a problem here?" she asked gently.

The vendor sighed, scratching his head. "This scale's been acting up all morning, Lady Ningguang. It's hard to do business when I can't weigh the ingredients properly."

Ningguang glanced at Rotom, who floated beside her. "Rotom, do you think you could help?"

Rotom zipped over to the scale, its body glowing as it phased into the device. Within moments, the scale's display flickered back to life, the numbers stabilizing. The young girl clapped her hands in delight, and the vendor gave Ningguang a grateful smile.

"Thank you, Lady Ningguang, and thank you too, little Pokémon," the vendor said, bowing his head.

Ningguang nodded, her eyes softening. "It was Rotom's pleasure. Pokémon are here to help, and I hope more people will come to see their value in our community."

As they continued their walk, Ningguang noticed more and more people looking at Rotom with curiosity. Children pointed excitedly, and merchants waved, clearly intrigued by the Pokémon's abilities. Ningguang felt a sense of pride—this was exactly what she wanted, for Pokémon to become an integral part of Liyue's culture.

As the afternoon turned to evening, Ningguang decided to visit the Wanmin Restaurant. She had arranged to meet Xiangling to discuss the possibility of incorporating Pokémon into her culinary endeavors more frequently. When Ningguang arrived, she found Xiangling busy at work, her Lotad hopping about, helping her by using Water Gun to rinse vegetables.

Xiangling looked up and beamed when she saw Ningguang. "Lady Ningguang! Welcome! Please, come in!" She gestured towards a table that had already been set for two.

Ningguang took a seat, Rotom hovering by her side, its eyes wide as it looked around the bustling kitchen. Xiangling quickly joined her, Lotad trailing behind.

"I've been thinking," Ningguang began, her tone thoughtful, "about how we can further integrate Pokémon into Liyue's daily life. You've done a wonderful job demonstrating how Lotad can assist in the kitchen, and I'd like to explore more opportunities for collaboration."

Xiangling's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Oh, absolutely! Lotad has been such a huge help. It's amazing how much faster I can get things done with its help. I think if more chefs got Pokémon partners, we could revolutionize the culinary scene in Liyue!"

Ningguang nodded. "That's exactly what I was thinking. I want to hold a culinary event—a competition, perhaps—where chefs from all over Liyue can come and showcase their cooking skills with the help of their Pokémon partners. It would not only highlight their talents but also encourage more people to see the value in having Pokémon companions."

Xiangling's face lit up. "That sounds amazing! I'd love to be a part of it! And I bet a lot of people would be interested in seeing something like that. Pokémon can add so much creativity to cooking!"

Ningguang smiled, pleased by Xiangling's enthusiasm. "Excellent. We'll start planning the event soon. I believe it could be a wonderful way to bring the community together and introduce even more people to the idea of working alongside Pokémon."

After her meeting with Xiangling, Ningguang and Rotom made their way back towards the Jade Chamber. As they walked along Feiyun Slope, they were joined by Beidou, who had just returned from a day out at sea. Her Fletchinder flew above her, occasionally diving down playfully before returning to the skies.

"Ningguang!" Beidou called out, her voice carrying across the bustling street. "I hear you've been busy today, showing off Rotom's talents."

Ningguang turned, a small smile playing on her lips. "Indeed. Rotom has been quite the asset today, helping with everything from accounting to fixing a broken scale. It seems there's nothing it can't do."

Beidou grinned, giving Rotom an approving nod. "I'm not surprised. Pokémon have a knack for making life a little easier—and a lot more fun. Fletchinder's been keeping me company all day, and let me tell you, the sailors love having it around."

Ningguang raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "Oh? How has Fletchinder been helping on the ship?"

Beidou chuckled, her eyes glinting with mischief. "It's great for keeping an eye on the horizon—and for toasting the sailors' snacks. They've gotten quite used to Fletchinder roasting fish for them during our breaks." Fletchinder let out a proud chirp, clearly enjoying its role.

Ningguang laughed softly. "It sounds like Pokémon have become indispensable to all of us in different ways. I have to say, it's wonderful to see how they've brought us all closer together."

Beidou nodded, her expression softening. "Yeah, it's funny how something so new can feel like it's always been a part of our lives. I think that's the magic of Pokémon."

As the evening sky turned a deep shade of indigo, Ningguang returned to the Jade Chamber, her mind buzzing with plans for the culinary event and the many ways she could further incorporate Pokémon into Liyue's daily life. Rotom hovered beside her, its electric energy illuminating the path as they ascended to the Chamber.

Once inside, Ningguang took a moment to look out over Liyue, the city lights twinkling like stars below. She turned to Rotom, her eyes filled with determination. "This is only the beginning, Rotom. Together, we're going to make Liyue a place where Pokémon and people live in harmony—where everyone can see just how incredible these creatures are."

Rotom buzzed in agreement, its eyes glowing brightly. Ningguang smiled, feeling a sense of excitement for what lay ahead. The journey to introduce Pokémon to Teyvat was far from over, but with every step, they were getting closer to creating a world full of possibilities—where bonds between people and Pokémon could grow and flourish.
