Chapter 1 - Chapter: 1

Chapter: 1

I hummed softly to myself as I sat in my room beside my twin brother, Arthur. The room was quiet except for the occasional turn of a page as Arthur focused intently on the large brown book in his lap. He looked determined, his short auburn hair slightly tousled, and his bright azure eyes filled with concentration. He had a small, round face and was dressed in solid-colored fabrics, courtesy of our mother, who seemed to adore keeping him looking neat.

In almost every way, Arthur was my opposite. I had shoulder-length auburn hair that fell messily over my shoulders, and unlike him, I took after Mother in appearance. Arthur and Dad often said I looked like a girl—something that didn't bother me at all. The only feature Arthur and I had in common were our vivid blue eyes.

"Arthur, what are you doing?" I asked, tilting my head curiously.

Arthur looked up from the book, giving me a mildly exasperated glance. "Well, Xavier, I'm studying this book on mana because, unlike you, I actually have to learn how to use it," he replied with a slight frown.

"What do you mean?" I asked, raising my right hand. A small ball of fire appeared, flickering and dancing in the air above my palm.

Arthur just sighed, staring at the flame with a deadpan expression. "Yes, exactly like that," he muttered, clearly a little envious of my ability to conjure magic without any practice.

I giggled, unable to resist teasing him a bit. "Alright, Mr. Serious, whatever you say." I stood up and strolled out of the room, leaving Arthur to his studies.

It had only been a year since Arthur and I completed our mana cores, a feat Mother and Father celebrated proudly. We'd both started learning to use mana after that, but it became clear pretty quickly that I was a little… different. While Arthur had to study and practice diligently, I had somehow already known how to use fire magic, much to everyone's surprise—and Arthur's mild irritation.

As I walked into the family room, I spotted Mom and Dad sitting together on the sofa, enjoying their morning tea. My mother, Alice Leywin, had distinct auburn hair and warm brown eyes. She had long lashes, a perky nose, and a gentle smile that made her look so kind. My father, Reynolds Leywin, was a charismatic-looking man with a square jawline and sharp features. His hair was a lighter, ashy brown, and his deep blue eyes often sparkled with a hint of mischief.

"Good morning, Mom. Morning, Dad!" I greeted them with a cheerful wave.

"Good morning, Xavier," Mom replied, smiling warmly.

"Morning, champ! What's up?" Dad asked, grinning as he leaned back in his seat.

"I'm going outside to train a bit. Is that alright?" I asked, rocking back on my heels.

Mom chuckled, giving me a fond look. "Of course, honey. Just make sure you stay away from any trees, okay?"

I raised my hand in a playful salute. "Okay!"

With a quick grin, I slipped out of the house and made my way into the woods nearby. I knew I wasn't technically supposed to practice magic near the trees—Mother always worried I'd set them ablaze. But the forest was quiet and secluded, offering the privacy I wanted.

I stepped into a small clearing, the sunlight filtering down through the branches above. Everyone thought I only knew how to use fire magic, which was already impressive for my age, but that was only half the story.

I raised my right hand, and a small ball of water appeared, shimmering and reflecting the light. Then, with my left hand, I conjured a gentle gust of wind, and a floating orb of earth hovered between both.

The truth was, I could control all four elements.

People who could use multiple elements were rare, and those who could control all four were nearly unheard of—quad-elementals, the book had called them. But there was something else, something even stranger. Beyond the four basic elements, I found I could manipulate things that weren't part of any elemental category. Shadows and light, for instance, both bent to my will, even though there wasn't any explanation for it in any of the books I'd read.

I didn't question it too much, though. It was simply a part of me, as natural as breathing.

"Alright, let's see if I can do it again," I muttered to myself, focusing.

I dispelled the earth, water, and wind orbs, leaving only the ball of fire in my hand. I concentrated, willing the flames to shift colors. The orangish-red gradually deepened to pure orange, then brightened to yellow. With a bit more focus, I coaxed it to green, then white, blue, and eventually a deep purple. For a moment, the flame turned a beautiful, shimmering rainbow before returning to its original color.

"That was pretty. I wonder if I could do the same with lightning," I thought aloud, a spark of excitement bubbling up inside me. "But first, some actual practice."

I started manipulating the flames, shaping them with my mind. The fireball morphed into a delicate rose, its petals glowing with embers, then into a small horse, rearing up in miniature. I changed it to a spear, then finally into a sword.

"Now that's cool," I whispered, swinging the fiery blade experimentally.

As I practiced, I got a bit carried away, accidentally hitting a nearby tree with the flaming sword. The bark immediately caught fire.

"Oops!" I panicked, quickly summoning a ball of water to douse the flames. The fire sizzled out, leaving only a faint scorch mark. "Better not let that happen again."

I spent the rest of the morning training, pushing my limits and trying new things with each element. By the time I finished, I was leaning against a tree, catching my breath. The forest felt peaceful, a quiet place where I could explore my powers freely.

"Xavier!" I heard Mom's voice call from the house.

"Coming!" I shouted back, dusting myself off.

I hurried back through the woods, entering the house to find my family gathered around the dining table, where breakfast was already set. The sight made me smile—Mom, Dad, and Arthur all sitting together, a picture of warmth and love.

"Breakfast is ready, Xavier. Go wash your hands first," Mom said, gesturing toward the kitchen.

"Okay!" I replied, heading to wash up.

Once I was done, I joined everyone at the table, and we began eating. Halfway through breakfast, Dad spoke up, his tone thoughtful.

"Honey," he began, looking at Mom, "I think it's time we get Art and Xav a proper mentor."

Chapter 1: End

If anyone is wondering what's the ability of the OC it's Primordial Element manipulation that's what he's capable of using all elements at his age.
