As we rushed out of the ruins, the trackers were hot on our heels, cold energy arrows flying past us. I used the ring's energy beams to hold some of them back, but their numbers were overwhelming. It seemed they were determined to end us here.
"Lorne, this way!" Suella shouted, pulling me into a maze of jagged rocks.
"Why are they so relentless?" I panted, feeling the heat intensify from the ring in my hand.
"Because you hold something they can't afford to lose," she replied quietly, turning to fire an arrow that drove one of the trackers back. "Aster must've given them a kill order."
We pushed ourselves to the limit and finally managed to shake off the trackers. We arrived at a highland surrounded by deep chasms, where the light of the Rift core coalesced, pointing toward a distant ruin barely visible through the mist.
"That's the next node," Suella said, her face tired but resolute.
