The morning air carried the damp scent of soil, and dew sparkled faintly in the soft light of dawn. I woke from my sleep to find Suella sitting by the fire, maintaining her vigilant posture. Her longbow rested against her shoulder, her face shadowed by exhaustion, though her eyes remained as sharp as blades, piercing through the morning mist.
"You didn't sleep all night?" I asked, rubbing my eyes, my voice still hoarse from sleep.
"I did. For ten minutes," she replied flatly, lowering her gaze to check her arrows. "It was enough."
"Do you really intend to keep this up?" I stood and stretched my stiff limbs. "Even you aren't indestructible."
"I don't need to be indestructible," she replied coldly. "I just need to outlive them."
"Them?" I asked, confused.
"Rift creatures, mechanical beasts, even the Rift itself." She glanced at me, a mocking smile tugging at her lips. "And you, my reckless companion."
