Since Ren and I entered the Adventus Academy's Grand Council Hall, it felt like we were being watched by each council member's eyes from head to toe. And I just could avert my gaze nervously, from their sharp glances, toward the cold stone walls lined with faintly glowing runic inscriptions that shifted in hue like a breathing organism.
Not helping, though.
Standing at the center of it all, it was as if the walls were also judging me. Meanwhile, Ren stood by my side, hands in his pockets, his gaze steady but sharp. The circle of council members loomed before us, their faces half-concealed by shadows.
Freyrjar's voice echoed through the hall like a gavel striking wood. "For the record, I present to you Luna D'Emeralia and William Renfield Lazarro."
"Also known as Ren," Ren interjected casually, making me roll my eyes.
