Chapter 8 - TRULY THE ONE

"What's taking so long? Why don't you have the antidote yet? If the matriarch gets here and sees him still unconscious, the smith family will not be able to bear the consequences! Worse, he became like that because of me. I'm doomed!" Ava shouted, holding her head with her hands.

Her father was pacing the room restlessly, biting his lips in agitation as he watched the best team of doctors in the world try to resuscitate Anthony. At the corner of the huge room was a laboratory where the scientists were desperately trying to concoct an antidote to the poison.

"Then don't admit it! Don't admit he got hurt while trying to save you. You saved him. That's what happened. He's still alive because of your care!" Fred said convincingly.

At once, Ava and her father Diego Smith frowned simultaneously and turned towards Fred.

"Are you mad? How dare you suggest we lie to the imperial dragon clan? Just a breath from them can ruin an entire continent. The smith family are servants and dearest assistants, sworn in loyalty to them. This arrangement has lasted centuries. It's thanks to them that the Smith family can act wantonly in the world. We're the most powerful family in the Biafran continent because of them. Their influence gave our family the leap it took to the top. We're an honorable clan, and will never betray them. Especially not the main branch. You better not entertain such demeaning thoughts. Whether you like it or not, you must love and serve him forever. Many families are vying to be in our shoes to no avail, yet they stuck with us like a good mother nurturing their child. The consequences of betraying them are so great and unimaginable that no one can bear it." Diego immediately rebuked.

Fred sighed and looked at Anthony resentfully. He hated that Ava was so devoted to Anthony, while he never got a passing glance from her despite all his dedication to her.

"Since they can't find an antidote, they should suck out all the poison. It will stop the area from decaying further and increase the chances of his body's natural defenses, eliminating the poison. Dr Ben is a grandmaster realm cultivator with years of training and expertise in the medical field, he should work on his legs. He also needs fluids, so let them continue giving him dextrose saline drip." Ava instructed and sat down weakly on the chair.

She had taken a bath and dressed up in a flowing white gown which made her look ethereal, just like an Immortal goddess. Her beauty, which was initially obscured by dirt and stress, was now prominent. The eye bags and lines of stress on her face did nothing to depreciate her allure as she watched the doctors work according to her instructions.

Soon, they wrapped up the wound after cauterizing it. Ava walked into the sterilized room and sat on the bed beside him, placing her palm on his forehead as she watched his handsome face.

Now that they have cleaned him up, he looked incredibly handsome. He was about the most handsome man she had ever seen. She traced her fingers along his beautiful brows and frowned in deep thoughts.

"I have seen you before. Where have I seen you, Prince Stephen?" she whispered, staring at his face.

The doctors opened the wounds, tearing off the gauze from the surface. The doctor gasped, making Ava turn with incredible speed.

"What's wrong?" She asked in alarm, turning to face him.

"The young master's wounds are healing on their own. His body is fighting the poison and neutralizing it on its own. He has an incredibly powerful bloodline. He seems to be a cultivator too. Wow. Such powerful bloodline power! I have never seen a biological poison as potent and dangerous as the demon crocodiles' poison. But his body is subduing and expelling it on its own." The old doctor exclaimed, his eyes shining with excitement.

"Wow! He's really the master. He was born with powers that made people target him the moment he was born. Although his powers were sealed by the grand ancestor, his bloodline will definitely remain potent." Diego shouted, feeling giddy with excitement.

At once the monitor beeped as his body condition began to normalize. Ava smiled happily, her emerald eyes shining like gems as she stared at him.

******

Anthony's eyes fluttered as he regained consciousness.

"He's awake!" Ava whispered, and caressed his face. Anthony turned his neck towards the people he noticed in the room.

"Welcome back young master." They chorused and went down on their knees, bowing to him.

Anthony frowned deeply, he had been hearing all they were saying while unconscious. But they seemed to be coming from a long tunnel.

Ava got up from where she knelt and walked to him, her father behind her.

"I'm Diego Smith. I'm honored to assist you!" He said with a smile on his face.

"Diego Smith of GSK corporation?" Anthony whispered. He nodded vigorously, looking at Anthony.

Anthony frowned deeply on hearing his words. GSK corporation was a behemoth, a financial giant whom everyone in the Biafran continent feared. Normally, Anthony was not qualified to have Diego discuss with him, talk more of having him serve him.

What in hell's name was happening?

"I know you're confused, but I can explain. You're the heir of the imperial dragon clan, the Meyer family, the most powerful and influential family in the world. In this whole world, there's only one family that can rival the Meyers of Southern dale. You were carried out and sent away with your nanny, Mara during a huge war because people were trying to kill you. But for five years, we have been looking for you. The Smith family, along with Hemsworth and Garcia family, the three subordinate branches of the Meyer family, have been searching everywhere for you. My daughter is the leader of the team and we're happy she found you by a stroke of luck."

His words sounded strange to Anthony's ears, making it impossible to be believed. The three families he mentioned were behemoths, governing three continents of the world, being respected and feared by the world. How then could there be a master controlling them in the dark? He sighed and shut his eyes as his head pounded painfully.

He needs to carefully analyze this. The Mara they mentioned was the mother he knows, so why did she suddenly turn into a nanny?

Ava sat beside him telling him how she discovered his identity, the origin of his tattoo and necklace, significance of the locket, and lots of details which Anthony would rather not hear. Why does his life seem like a thriller movie?
