Chapter 13 - CHAPTER13 :SECRET REVELATION

"I need to talk to him," Vanessa said, her voice firm but laced with desperation. She started toward the door, but Vincenzo's hand shot out, gently gripping her wrist. Before she could react, he pulled her close, his other hand slipping to her waist as he leaned in, capturing her lips in another kiss. This one was softer, pleading, as if he could convey through his touch the words he couldn't say out loud.

Vanessa's heart raced, torn between the urgency of her situation and the warmth of his embrace. She wanted to stay like this, lost in the safety of his arms, but reality loomed too close. With a shuddering breath, she broke the kiss, pressing her hand to his chest.

"I have to go, Vincenzo," she whispered, her voice heavy with the weight of her decision. "I have to make things right with him… somehow."

Vincenzo's expression softened, a glint of sorrow in his gaze, but he nodded, releasing her. Vanessa turned and hurried into the hallway, her footsteps echoing as she called out, "Brian! Brian, wait!" Her voice grew louder, more frantic, but he was already halfway down the hall, his broad back rigid with anger.

Just as she felt him slipping away, desperation took hold. "Please, don't make this harder, Brian. What… what do you want to do, harm your nephew?"

Her words stopped him cold. Brian turned slowly, his brows knitting together in confusion, his gaze searching her face as if trying to comprehend what she had just said.

"What did you just say?" he asked, his voice low, filled with a mix of shock and disbelief.

Vanessa's hands shook, but she met his gaze, taking a deep breath to steady herself. "I'm carrying Vincenzo's child, Brian." Her words hung in the air, each one landing with a weight she could feel pressing against her chest. She took a hesitant step toward him, her hand reaching out as if to bridge the gap between them. "Please… please stop this. I love him, Brian. Don't make things more difficult than they already are."

Brian's face softened for the briefest moment, a flicker of vulnerability flashing across his features before he quickly masked it. He let out a shaky breath, one hand rubbing his face as he processed her words. He looked down, his jaw clenching as he struggled with his own emotions, before finally looking up and meeting her gaze.

After a long silence, he took a step forward, his arms opening as he pulled her into a tight hug. "Alright… I'll back off, but only because of you," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. "But understand this, Vanessa—this isn't easy for me. I've always tried to protect you, and now… now it feels like I've failed." His arms tightened around her, a quiet plea in his embrace. "Just promise me, no matter what happens, you'll keep yourself safe."

Tears pricked Vanessa's eyes as she clung to him, feeling the depth of his love and loyalty. "I will, Brian. I promise," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. She pulled back slightly to look up at him, her expression softening as she placed a hand on his shoulder. "And I'm sorry… I never wanted to hurt you."

Brian managed a weak smile, brushing a tear from her cheek. "I know," he replied, his voice wavering. "I just hope he's worth it."

Vanessa nodded, her heart heavy but resolute. "He is, Brian. He really is."

Brian let out a resigned sigh, releasing her as he took a step back, casting a wary glance down the hall toward where Vincenzo waited in silence. He gave a small nod of acknowledgment before turning away, leaving Vanessa standing there with a mixture of relief and sadness.

As she returned to Vincenzo's side, he took her hand, his grip gentle but steady, offering her a silent reassurance. Vanessa felt a newfound resolve growing within her—a quiet, unshakable certainty that, despite the obstacles, she would find a way to make this work. She looked up at Vincenzo, her eyes reflecting both hope and determination.

Together, they stepped forward, knowing that the path ahead would be fraught with challenges but also filled with the strength of a love worth fighting for.
