Chapter 3 - 3

### **Chapter 5: Suspicion and Support**

The days at the Academy continued, each one blending training with occasional missions. Tomaru was gradually beginning to feel more grounded, but each day brought new challenges. His enhanced Tenseigan abilities continued to fascinate him, but using them in secret took careful restraint. Ino's persistence in keeping him company made things easier, and he found himself interacting with her more freely, even though he still kept much of his true self hidden.

However, Tomaru knew the change in his behavior hadn't gone unnoticed.

**Ino's Curiosity**

During a particularly grueling taijutsu exercise, Ino trotted over to where he was sitting after class. "Hey, Tomaru! That last move you did—it was pretty impressive! I don't remember you trying so hard before."

Tomaru wiped the sweat from his forehead, trying to play it off. "Just… trying to keep up, I guess," he muttered, giving her a slight shrug.

Ino smiled, clearly not buying his casual response. "Well, it's good to see you putting in effort! You're definitely different lately. Not that I'm complaining."

Tomaru felt a flicker of nervousness. "Different, huh? Maybe I just realized I have a lot to catch up on."

Ino laughed and nudged his shoulder lightly. "You? Catch up? Come on, Tomaru, you're always so modest." She beamed, happy to finally see him opening up more. "If you ever want to train together, just let me know. We'd make a pretty good team, don't you think?"

Tomaru nodded, a small smile creeping onto his face. "Yeah… thanks, Ino."

**Shikamaru's Suspicion**

As Tomaru walked back to his apartment that evening, he felt the weight of someone's gaze on him. He turned, catching Shikamaru observing him from a distance. Tomaru's heart skipped a beat, but he forced himself to remain calm. Shikamaru, he knew, was no ordinary Academy student. Lazy as he seemed, his intelligence was razor-sharp, and he didn't miss details.

Shikamaru approached, his hands lazily tucked in his pockets. "You've been… different lately," he commented, his eyes narrowing slightly as he looked Tomaru over.

Tomaru's mouth went dry. "Different how?"

Shikamaru shrugged nonchalantly. "Dunno. Maybe you're just actually trying. You're answering more questions in class. Talking to Ino. Just… doesn't seem like the you from last month." He squinted, as if analyzing every word Tomaru said.

Tomaru cleared his throat, forcing a light chuckle. "Maybe I just realized I need to take things more seriously. Can't stay an average ninja forever, right?"

Shikamaru gave a lazy smile, though a glint of suspicion lingered in his eyes. "Right. Well, good luck with that, Tomaru."

As Shikamaru walked away, Tomaru let out a sigh of relief. Shikamaru's intelligence was both impressive and slightly intimidating. *I need to be more careful,* he thought, realizing he'd need to avoid drawing any more unwanted attention, especially from someone as observant as Shikamaru.

**Naruto's Usual Antics**

The next day at the Academy, Naruto was back at it, making a scene in class as he always did. He had spotted Tomaru sitting near Ino and couldn't resist taking a dig.

"Look at Mr. Cool over there!" Naruto jeered, smirking at Tomaru from across the room. "Hanging around with all the popular kids now? Think you're better than the rest of us?"

Ino rolled her eyes, clearly annoyed. "Naruto, leave him alone. You're just jealous because he doesn't act like a loudmouth all the time."

Naruto scoffed, but the girls in the class quickly jumped to Tomaru's defense, giggling at Naruto's expense. "Oh yeah? Well, he's not that great, you know! Just acts cool, that's all!"

Tomaru sighed inwardly, trying to ignore the spectacle Naruto was making. But as he watched the scene unfold, he felt a strange pang in his mind, a memory surfacing from deep within. He saw images of his life before this one, the feeling of saving someone, and the strange warmth that came with it. The memory was fragmented, but it left a lingering sense of purpose—a sense that there was more to his presence in this world than he fully understood.

**Unexpected Support from Ino**

As they left the classroom after lunch, Ino caught up to him, her voice gentle but curious. "You know, I noticed you don't talk much about yourself. Even when I ask, it's like you're holding back. I hope you know you can trust me, Tomaru."

Tomaru gave her a quiet nod, realizing he appreciated her loyalty and patience. "Thanks, Ino. I… it's just that I'm still figuring things out myself."

Ino nodded understandingly, giving him an encouraging smile. "Well, when you're ready to talk, I'll be here. And remember, you're not alone—you've got people who care."

A warmth spread through Tomaru's chest at her words. For the first time since arriving in this strange, familiar world, he felt a genuine sense of connection.

---

### **Chapter 6: Testing Limits and New Connections**

The sun filtered through the classroom windows as Tomaru tried to focus on Iruka-sensei's lecture. He'd been careful to keep his Tenseigan hidden, yet sometimes he felt its pull, urging him to explore its depths. The allure of its abilities—chakra vision, insight, and its perception of power—was hard to ignore.

**Experimenting with Tenseigan**

After classes ended, Tomaru lingered behind. He found a quiet corner outside the Academy, a shaded spot by a lone tree, and finally allowed his Tenseigan to activate. The world instantly sharpened. He could see layers of chakra swirling through the village, feeling the pathways and sensing the faintest fluctuations in the people around him. He looked past the buildings, out to the Hokage's stone faces carved into the mountain, and a thrill raced down his spine.

"I can see so much more…" he whispered, marveling at the scope of his vision. Then a thought crept in, a reminder of the responsibility his power demanded of him. The Tenseigan's insight might be incredible, but it was also a gateway to secrets and burdens he wasn't sure he was ready for.

**Ino's Growing Interest**

Just as he was beginning to test the Tenseigan's limits, Ino appeared, clearly having followed him.

"Tomaru!" she called out, causing him to startle slightly. He quickly deactivated his Tenseigan before she could notice. Ino raised an eyebrow, noticing his startled expression. "I feel like I'm always catching you in a daze lately. You know, if you're trying to avoid me, you're not doing a good job!"

Tomaru smiled awkwardly. "No, it's not like that, Ino. Just… thinking about training."

She seemed satisfied, giving him a warm smile. "Good. Maybe we can train together sometime? You don't always have to do everything alone, you know."

Her offer struck a chord. *Maybe I don't have to do everything alone.* He wasn't used to having people care about him this way. "Sure, I'd like that," he said, noticing the spark in her eyes.

Ino's grin widened. "Great! I'll hold you to it, Tomaru. And if you need any help practicing ninjutsu or taijutsu, I'm here."

**Shikamaru's Curiosity Deepens**

Later that day, Shikamaru caught up to Tomaru as he walked back toward the village center. Shikamaru's lazy demeanor never wavered, but Tomaru could feel his friend's sharp mind studying him, observing his every move.

"So, you and Ino," Shikamaru began, his tone teasing but his gaze analytical. "You've been talking more. That's… unlike you."

Tomaru shrugged, trying to play it off. "She's just… persistent, I guess."

Shikamaru chuckled. "Yeah, she is. But you're different, too. It's like you've suddenly woken up and decided to become a real ninja. Never saw that coming from you."

Tomaru felt a pang of worry. Shikamaru was smart, too smart to overlook the subtle changes in his behavior. "Maybe I just realized I need to try harder," he said, deflecting as best he could.

Shikamaru smirked. "Right. Keep it up, Tomaru. It's nice seeing you put in the effort—makes things less… boring."

**An Unexpected Test**

The Academy day ended with Iruka announcing a surprise taijutsu sparring session. Tomaru's heart sank. He had been practicing on his own, but facing other students in combat meant there was a risk of slipping up, of revealing too much. But he had no choice—participation was mandatory.

When his turn came, he found himself paired with Naruto, whose grin was as competitive as ever.

"Alright, Tomaru! Let's see what you've got!" Naruto taunted, bouncing on his toes. "You're not getting off easy!"

Tomaru steadied himself, keeping his stance tight. He couldn't use his Tenseigan or chakra abilities openly, but he felt their presence, a quiet strength anchoring him.

Naruto launched himself at Tomaru with his usual recklessness, his punches wild and unrefined. Tomaru sidestepped the first attack, ducking under Naruto's second swing with ease. He could almost feel Naruto's chakra, chaotic and bursting with energy.

After dodging a few more of Naruto's attacks, Tomaru allowed himself a small counterstrike, tapping Naruto's arm and stepping aside. It was a light touch, but enough to throw Naruto off balance.

Naruto blinked, surprised. "Whoa, since when did you get so… coordinated?"

Tomaru just smirked. "I guess you're just a little off today, Naruto."

The other students laughed, and Naruto's face turned red, but he gave Tomaru a challenging grin. "Fine! You may have luck this time, but I'm still gonna be Hokage, so don't get too full of yourself, Tomaru!"

Tomaru chuckled, the interaction leaving him with a sense of normalcy he hadn't felt in a while. Despite the strange circumstances, it was… nice to just be a part of the group, to joke around and relax.

**Reflections and Restraint**

That night, as Tomaru lay in his small apartment, the day's events replayed in his mind. Ino's offer, Shikamaru's suspicions, Naruto's competitive spirit—all these interactions chipped away at the wall he'd built around himself. Despite his caution, he found himself drawn to these people, to the bonds they shared, however small.

He glanced at the faint reflection of his right eye in the dark window, the dormant Tenseigan resting within. A part of him wanted to unlock its full potential, to see what he was truly capable of. But another part reminded him of the cost, of the risks that came with revealing too much.

For now, he resolved to keep his abilities hidden, to live as Tomaru—the ordinary Academy student. But deep down, he knew that ordinary wouldn't last forever. The Tenseigan's power called to him, and the promise of what he could become tugged at his thoughts, even as he drifted off to sleep.

---

### **Chapter 7: Hidden Strength and Growing Bonds**

Tomaru watched as Iruka-sensei wrapped up the day's lesson, his attention drifting as Naruto and Sasuke bickered in the back of the room. Their rivalry had become the pulse of the class—everyone seemed to be caught in its energy, including Tomaru. He found himself studying them more often now, glimpsing their potential with his Tenseigan.

**A Moment with Shikamaru**

After class, Shikamaru found Tomaru at his usual spot under the tree. He lay down beside him, hands behind his head, eyes closed in his signature lazy posture.

"You've been... different, you know that?" Shikamaru muttered, still not looking at him.

Tomaru blinked, acting nonchalant. "Different how?"

Shikamaru cracked an eye open, giving Tomaru a sidelong look. "You used to go along with whatever came your way. Now it's like… you're always thinking about something, even when you're quiet."

Tomaru shifted uncomfortably, knowing Shikamaru's insight could be a problem if he wasn't careful. "Just trying to keep up," he replied, downplaying his efforts. "Nothing unusual."

Shikamaru let out a low chuckle. "If you say so. Just... don't go doing anything too troublesome, alright?"

*If only it were that simple,* Tomaru thought. But he just nodded, appreciating that Shikamaru, as perceptive as he was, wasn't pushing him too hard.

**Naruto's Challenge**

Later that day, while practicing taijutsu in the training yard, Naruto came stomping over, his fists clenched and an intense look in his eyes.

"Tomaru!" Naruto called, startling him. "You and I, right here, right now. Let's have a sparring match!"

Tomaru raised an eyebrow, slightly amused. "Why so fired up, Naruto?"

Naruto crossed his arms defiantly. "Because everyone's been talking about how 'cool' you are, like you're something special. I want to see what's so great about you!"

The class began to gather around, some of the students whispering in anticipation. Tomaru could feel the attention, and it unnerved him. He had to be careful not to reveal too much.

Sighing, he nodded, stepping into the ring. "Fine, but take it easy, will you?"

Naruto smirked, dropping into his fighting stance. "As if!"

They circled each other, Tomaru staying light on his feet. Naruto charged first, coming at him with the same reckless energy he'd used before. Tomaru dodged and sidestepped, careful not to overpower him. But every time he countered with a simple, precise move, the girls watching would gasp or whisper excitedly.

"Nice one, Tomaru!" Ino called out, smiling. Naruto's face turned a bit redder with every cheer Tomaru received.

Naruto charged again, and this time, Tomaru couldn't help but feel a tug of sympathy for the boy. Naruto wanted to be acknowledged so badly—it was clear in every wild punch he threw. Tomaru sidestepped one last time, and instead of striking back, he allowed Naruto's punch to graze his shoulder, giving the boy a minor victory.

The crowd clapped, and Naruto straightened, grinning widely as if he'd won.

Tomaru just patted him on the shoulder. "Good match, Naruto."

Naruto's grin faded, sensing Tomaru's gentleness. "You're… just being nice, aren't you?" he muttered, brows furrowed.

Tomaru's expression softened. "You're stronger than you think, Naruto. You don't need to prove anything to anyone."

Naruto seemed taken aback, his shoulders relaxing. For a second, Tomaru saw the loneliness in his eyes, a loneliness he could understand. Naruto grinned again, though, as if brushing it off. "Yeah, well... just don't go getting a big head about it!"

Tomaru chuckled, his respect for Naruto growing. He could tell that Naruto's drive was something special. That drive was why he'd someday become the Hokage, but of course, no one could see it yet.

**Ino's Support**

Ino walked over after Naruto left, a smile lighting up her face. "That was impressive, Tomaru! You're really getting better."

Tomaru shrugged, downplaying his skills as he always did. "Just… trying my best."

Ino nudged him playfully. "You're so modest. Most of the guys here would be bragging non-stop if they fought like that."

He found himself smiling back. "It's not really my style."

Ino laughed, and for a moment, he allowed himself to relax, to let go of the constant worry about hiding his true abilities. Ino's presence, her laughter—it brought him a rare moment of calm in the midst of his new life.

**A Revelation and a Realization**

That night, Tomaru found himself staring into his apartment's bathroom mirror. His Tenseigan's glow pulsed faintly in his right eye. As he studied himself, he realized something: *I'm not the person I used to be.* The words echoed in his mind, filling him with a mix of excitement and fear.

He had always lived in the background, avoiding confrontation, blending into the crowd. But here, in this strange world, he was finally beginning to step forward. He had powers and responsibilities he never imagined, but he also had friendships forming around him, bonds he hadn't thought possible.

For the first time, he felt a twinge of something foreign—a desire to belong, to be a part of this world, not just a visitor passing through. And as he felt the Tenseigan's energy simmer within him, he knew he was on a path that could change everything.

But, for now, he'd keep his secrets. The time to reveal his full potential would come eventually. Until then, he'd continue to play the role of the quiet, unassuming Academy student, watching and waiting.

### **Chapter 8: Training Days and Hidden Growth**

Tomaru's days at the Academy had become a blur of classes, drills, and silent observations. Each day, he quietly studied the students around him—particularly Naruto, Sasuke, and Shikamaru—looking for clues about their strengths and weaknesses. He'd been holding back, keeping his abilities hidden, but with each passing day, the pressure of maintaining his facade grew.

The arrival of the Genin Exam was looming, and Tomaru could feel the tension building. The pressure to perform was heavy on everyone's shoulders, but he knew that revealing his true potential was a dangerous gamble. He couldn't afford to draw attention from the higher-ups, especially from people like Danzo, who would be eager to exploit him. Tomaru wasn't ready to face that kind of scrutiny, not yet.

Still, he couldn't deny that his new abilities were itching to be used. The Tenseigan in his right eye whispered promises of untapped power, and every time he tried to focus on it, he felt a burning curiosity deep within him. But for now, he resisted.

### **Training Day with Ino and Shikamaru**

One afternoon, during an impromptu training session, Ino and Shikamaru found Tomaru practicing his chakra control.

Ino was the first to spot him, approaching cautiously. "Tomaru, are you okay?" she asked, noticing the intense focus in his eyes as he balanced on one foot, his chakra pulsing through his body. "You've been training alone for hours

### **Chapter 9: Unforeseen Consequences**

The sun hung low in the sky as Tomaru walked back to his small apartment, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. The training session earlier had been physically draining, but mentally, it left him with even more questions. His interactions with Ino had started to feel different. Her persistence was no longer just an annoyance—it was a source of comfort. It was the closest thing he'd ever had to a meaningful connection.

Still, he couldn't shake the unease that gnawed at him. Every time he used his Tenseigan, he caught glimpses of something—something that hinted at a deeper power, one that he wasn't yet ready to tap into. His eye throbbed as if it were calling out to him, beckoning him to push further. But each time he did, the pain in his head worsened.

Tomaru sighed, brushing his hand through his straight brown hair, feeling the tension in his neck. He hadn't come to terms with this new world yet—especially with his own abilities. But as he passed a training ground on his way home, he overheard a familiar voice, one that set his heart racing.

"Hey! Tomaru! Wait up!" Naruto called out, waving frantically.

Tomaru stopped, his instinctive wariness rising. He had been trying to avoid Naruto's attention, but somehow, the loudmouth always seemed to find him. With a reluctant sigh, Tomaru turned toward him.

"What is it, Naruto?" Tomaru asked, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible.

Naruto grinned, as usual, full of energy. "I was thinking about our training. You're getting pretty good, right? I mean, you didn't have a problem handling those kunai drills earlier. You should join me tomorrow for a sparring match. What do you say? You up for a real challenge?"

Tomaru felt his pulse quicken. A sparring match with Naruto? Tomaru wasn't sure he could handle that. He didn't know how much longer he could keep hiding his true abilities. If he fought Naruto seriously, his Tenseigan might flare up, and there was no telling how the others would react.

"I'm not really up for it, Naruto," Tomaru replied, trying to downplay the situation. "I've got some stuff to work on. You know, training and all that." He gave a half-hearted smile.

Naruto wasn't having it. "Come on! It'll be fun! You've got skills, don't hold back!" He flashed a thumbs-up.

Tomaru hesitated. He knew that Naruto had a good heart, even if he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. But that wasn't the problem. The real issue was his own fear of being exposed.

"I'll think about it," Tomaru said, quickly changing the subject. "But not today."

Naruto shrugged. "Fine, fine. But next time, don't chicken out!"

Tomaru watched as Naruto bounded off, calling over his shoulder. Tomaru couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt. He'd been avoiding connections with people, avoiding real interactions. But Naruto, with all his brashness, wasn't making it easy.

When Tomaru turned back toward his apartment, his thoughts became more conflicted. Was he really afraid of sparring with Naruto? No, not exactly. He was more afraid of losing control. His Tenseigan was a part of him, and it was growing stronger by the day. He had to stay in control—he couldn't risk anyone finding out just how powerful he really was.

Later that night, as he lay in bed, sleep pulled at him like an inevitable force. But even as he closed his eyes, memories began to flood in—fragmented, blurry images of his life before, and glimpses of his current body's past.

He remembered the orphanage. He remembered being alone, surrounded by other children who had lost their parents to the Kyuubi's rampage. He wasn't special—just another orphan. But the moment he entered the Academy, something changed. Something inside him had awakened.

When the memories began to fade, Tomaru's mind still buzzed with unanswered questions. "Who am I really?" he whispered to himself in the dark. "What's the point of all this?"

The answer came not in words, but in sensations. The sensation of power that lay dormant inside him, waiting for release. He knew he couldn't hide forever.

As he drifted off to sleep, he wondered just how long he could keep pretending to be a regular Academy student. The time was coming when he would have to face the truth—not just about his abilities, but about the person he was becoming.

### **Chapter 10: The Challenge**

The morning sun crept through the curtains, casting a golden hue over Tomaru's small apartment. He sat up in bed, rubbing his eyes, the events of the previous day lingering in his mind. Despite his best efforts to avoid confrontation, Naruto's invitation still echoed in his thoughts. The idea of a sparring match nagged at him, leaving a strange, uneasy feeling in his stomach. Could he keep hiding his abilities? How long would it take before someone noticed something was off?

He swung his legs off the bed and stood, trying to shake off the nagging thoughts. Today was another day at the Academy, and he had to focus. Still, part of him couldn't deny the curiosity gnawing at him. Would he really have to fight Naruto one day? And if that time came, what would he do?

With a sigh, Tomaru made his way to the bathroom and splashed some water on his face, willing himself to focus. He needed to blend in. He couldn't afford to stand out too much.

---

Later that morning, as Tomaru entered the Academy, the usual bustle of students filled the air. The chatter of classmates, the sound of footsteps echoing through the halls—it was all so ordinary, yet Tomaru couldn't shake the feeling that things were different now. His eye felt heavier today, like it was calling out to him, urging him to use it.

When he reached his classroom, he noticed that the usual group was already seated—Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Shikamaru, among others. As usual, Naruto's loud voice rang through the room.

"Yo! Tomaru!" Naruto waved excitedly, bouncing on his seat. "Ready for today's lesson?"

Tomaru gave him a nonchalant nod, trying to ignore the growing tension in his chest. He wasn't sure how much longer he could keep this act up. Naruto was persistent, and the more Tomaru deflected, the more obvious it became.

Sitting down in his usual spot, Tomaru caught a glimpse of Shikamaru out of the corner of his eye. The lazy genius was watching him, as usual, but today there was something different in his expression—an almost perceptible glint of suspicion. It wasn't much, but it was enough to make Tomaru uneasy.

Shikamaru wasn't an idiot. He could see when something was off. Tomaru knew that if anyone would figure him out, it would be him.

Ino sat beside Tomaru as usual, her bright smile welcoming him as she leaned over slightly. "Morning, Tomaru," she greeted with a cheerful tone.

"Morning," Tomaru replied, his voice quieter than usual. He hadn't really thought much about Ino lately. She had been the one to initiate most of their interactions, and he had just followed along. It wasn't that he disliked her, but he wasn't used to opening up to anyone, let alone someone as outgoing as her.

Ino raised an eyebrow at his response, but smiled nonetheless. "You know, you've been a little quiet lately. Everything okay?"

Tomaru hesitated before answering, unsure of how to explain. He didn't want to lie, but he also didn't want to worry her. "Just thinking about some stuff. Nothing major."

Her smile faltered for a moment, but she quickly brushed it off. "Well, if you ever want to talk, I'm here."

The sincerity in her voice made Tomaru feel a strange warmth in his chest. It was clear that Ino genuinely cared about him—something he wasn't used to.

He nodded, a small, genuine smile appearing on his face. "Thanks."

As the lesson began, Tomaru found his mind wandering. It wasn't just Ino's words that lingered with him; it was everything. His past life, the memories that were slowly coming back to him, and the mysterious power of his Tenseigan that seemed to pulse with energy every time he tried to focus on it. He needed to be careful. If he wasn't, he might accidentally reveal something that wasn't supposed to be known.

At the front of the class, Iruka started to lecture, but Tomaru's attention was elsewhere. He couldn't stop thinking about what Naruto had said yesterday. *A real challenge.*

Naruto, despite being loud and reckless, had a certain spark to him. There was no denying it. He was strong. And that strength was only going to grow.

But so was Tomaru's.

---

The bell rang, signaling the end of the day's lesson. Tomaru stood, grabbing his things and heading for the door. As he walked out into the courtyard, he noticed Naruto waving from a distance, his energy as infectious as ever.

"Oi! Tomaru! You're not bailing on me today, right?" Naruto called, a grin plastered on his face.

Tomaru stopped in his tracks, a sinking feeling in his gut. He had been dreading this moment, but there was no avoiding it now. His heart pounded in his chest as he slowly turned to face Naruto.

"I didn't say I was bailing," Tomaru replied, trying to keep his voice even. "But I don't know if I'm ready for a real fight yet."

Naruto crossed his arms and pouted. "Come on! Don't tell me you're scared!"

Tomaru chuckled softly, though it didn't reach his eyes. "I'm not scared. I just... don't want to hurt you."

Naruto's grin widened. "Is that a challenge?"

Tomaru's heart skipped a beat. He didn't know how to respond to that. The truth was, he was terrified. He didn't want to expose his abilities, and fighting Naruto might be the catalyst for that.

Before he could think of an answer, Shikamaru's voice drifted over. "You know, this is such a hassle," he said lazily, leaning against a nearby wall. "You guys really want to fight? Can't you just talk like normal people?"

Tomaru glanced over at Shikamaru, who gave him a knowing look. It was clear that Shikamaru didn't quite buy the act Tomaru had been putting on. But instead of calling him out, he just shrugged and turned away.

Naruto, oblivious as always, didn't seem to notice the tension. "Tomorrow. Meet me in the training field at noon. I'm not taking no for an answer."

Tomaru hesitated, but then nodded. "Fine. Tomorrow."

As Naruto ran off, Tomaru felt a weight settle on his shoulders. Tomorrow was going to be the moment of truth. The moment when he would have to decide just how much of his power he was willing to reveal.

And he had no idea what the consequences would be.

But one thing was certain—he couldn't back down now.
