Chapter 1 - "The lost child"

Here's the translation of your text into English:

---

It's told in one story about a time when wars were rampant and human greed grew beyond control, leading to all kinds of crimes imaginable. What was the main cause of this?

Power, or what people refer to as "abilities," became a force that nations used to select those "chosen ones." Many of them were destined to become soldiers on the battlefields, while a small few — the ones with influence — could use their power to keep themselves away from the frontlines. But does this make them weak? The answer is no, because they simply possess rare abilities.

Among those rare individuals was a young man named Jin. He chose to join the front lines and fight alongside other soldiers. Jin came from the immensely wealthy Zukin family. When he received his ability, his family insisted he participate in the war for the honor and wide-reaching reputation it would bring them. Jin, tired of a life of luxury, agreed to go. He became the cornerstone of the largest and most ruthless army of all time: the Black Star.

Its very name was enough to instill fear and dread.

The first half, naturally, belonged to the Black Star. The second half was ruled by a country that had risen up and managed to resist the oppression of the Black Star's army. Its people called themselves the Dawn of the World.

For the Black Star, the existence of this rival nation was like a thorn in their side, obstructing their ambitions for world domination. Yet, they accepted the reality that they could not bring it down for the time being.

Jin was returning home with his formidable army when he noticed a boy, about twelve years old, sitting beside a man's corpse by the roadside. Out of curiosity, Jin stopped his horse and dismounted. One look at the boy was enough to stir compassion in Jin's heart. The child had eyes like those of someone who had lost everything — eyes empty of all meaning of life…
