Chapter 66 - What Would Have Happened?

Fairy Tail was more than just a guild to Makarov—it was his home. His connection to it ran deeper than anyone else's. He had been part of Fairy Tail since he was eight years old, spending almost his entire life within its walls. From a regular member to the guild's master, he had nurtured generations of wizards, many of whom found a family and a home they never had before.

And now, because of what he considered a trivial matter—provoked by the Phantom Lord Guild—his family was threatened with dissolution. The council's decision to sentence Su Yan to eight years in prison, himself to one year, and disband Fairy Tail was simply too much.

"That... we were only following regulations..." one of the judges muttered weakly.

"Don't talk to me about regulations!" Makarov bellowed. "Fairy Tail may have caused plenty of trouble over the years, but we've made enough contributions to more than make up for it!"

His tone grew colder. "I don't believe you don't know what really happened. If anything, this punishment is beyond excessive. I expected maybe a week in prison, at most. But you dare to sentence Su Yan and dismantle Fairy Tail?"

He clenched his fists. "Perhaps Su Yan was right—maybe a Magic Council like this one doesn't deserve to exist!"

"Boom!!!"

Makarov's magic power surged, and the ground beneath them trembled violently. His body began to grow rapidly, transforming into a towering giant in seconds. The sheer force of his magic left the council members and Ancient Knights stunned.

"President! Let's destroy the Magic Council together!" Su Yan said eagerly, his grin widening.

Panic spread through the room. If Su Yan's earlier destruction wasn't enough, adding one of the Ten Wizard Saints, Makarov, to the mix meant certain annihilation.

The council members were paralyzed with fear. They had never faced such raw power and unrelenting resolve from their supposed subordinates.

"Cough! Makky, calm down!" Yakima stepped forward, his voice urgent but calm. He had called Makarov here precisely to prevent this kind of escalation. "You've already made your point, haven't you?"

"Calm down?!" Makarov growled. "They're trying to steal my home, and you expect me to calm down?"

Yakima gestured to the ruins around them. "Look, Makarov, the council's already been destroyed! Su Yan handled that part. There's nothing left to smash."

Makarov paused, glancing around for the first time. He hadn't even realized that the headquarters of the Magic Council was in ruins.

"This... this is the Magic Council?" Makarov said, his giant form shrinking back to normal size as realization dawned. "I thought this was just some old rubble."

Yakima sighed. "Yes, and now it's very much ruined. Su Yan's already made his point. Let it go, old friend. The judges above us made mistakes, but the rest of the council is full of good people—people who just want to do what's right."

Makarov frowned but nodded reluctantly. "Fine, Yakima. For your sake, I'll let it go this time. But the council owes Fairy Tail an explanation!"

The council members trembled but nodded quickly. They had no choice. Even their pride wasn't worth pushing Makarov or Su Yan any further.

"If you don't," Makarov continued, "I'll bring this matter to the Local Guild Alliance and the Holy Ten Conference."

At the mention of those two powerful entities, the judges paled. Raising the issue at that level would create political waves that even the Magic Council couldn't ignore.

"Let's go, brat," Makarov said to Su Yan. "We're heading back to the guild."

As the two left, no one dared to stop them.

Outside the Magic Council

Makarov and Su Yan walked away from the ruins, the air around them still heavy with the aftereffects of their magic.

"Stinky brat," Makarov said quietly, "you went too far this time. The Magic Council is in shambles."

Su Yan shrugged. "Relax, Master. No one's dead—not even seriously injured. I was just teaching them a lesson. It's about time they learned what it feels like to be on the receiving end for once."

Makarov sighed. "Most of the council's members are good people, Su Yan. They may be weak, but they mean well."

Su Yan smirked. "Exactly why I didn't go all out. This was just a little reality check for the higher-ups. They've been acting like they're untouchable for far too long."

Makarov groaned, rubbing his temples. "And what if I hadn't shown up? What then?"

Su Yan grinned. "I'd split the place in half, beat up the judges, and walk away."

Makarov's face twisted in horror. "That's exactly what I was afraid of!"

Nearby, Ultear and Jellal Watched from Afar

"What is that?" Ultear muttered, her voice tinged with fear.

Jellal observed Su Yan with a calculating gaze. "It's Su Yan, the so-called 'Undead Demon King.' He lives up to his title."

Ultear swallowed hard. She remembered her encounter with Su Yan on Galuna Island and how close she had come to defeat. Watching him single-handedly destroy the Magic Council was nothing short of terrifying.

"It's nothing but large-scale mental shock magic," Jellal said dismissively. "The scope is impressive, but its effects are limited. Anyone with a strong enough reserve of magic power can resist it."

"But I underestimated him," he added. His lips curled into a smirk. "To think Fairy Tail harbors someone with such power... it's intriguing."

Ultear nodded silently, her gaze still fixed on the retreating figures of Su Yan and Makarov. Fear and admiration warred within her as she thought, What kind of monster did Fairy Tail create?
