The slums of the greatest Empire in the world are not as grandiose as most would assume. People struggle to live everyday looking for food clean water and shelter. Poverty leads to crime and the slums having the highest crime in the whole empire. Wealth doesn't stay in the slums as soon as someone gets a break or they get money they move out of the slums.

In one street corner inside of a tent is a woman and a baby. The two look not alike most of them assume that they were not related. The woman had brown hair and brown eyes while the baby had white hair and red eyes. She found the baby a few months ago as the baby was left near her tent. The woman whose husband and son died during the war and whose and a second child who died of stillbirth a few weeks ago was excited and thought that this was a gift from God. Everyone of the slums as a man over the age of 14 was enlisted automatically. Being a woman alone in the slums is very dangerous so she has to watch her back all the time. The woman is good at sewing and cooking so she would charge people to repair clothes and cook meals for them.

Arthur grew up and became a young child, it has already been 3 years since the woman found the boy. Arthur grew to be a quite cute child, but in the slums looks actually a curse. The boy would notice a lot of people staring at him whenever he went anywhere. His adopted mother was very protective of him, she was also more on the attractive side, not super attractive but above definitely average for slum standards. Her late husband had a couple of friends who went to war with him, they came back after getting injured, he saved their lives, so they promised to protect their good friend's wife. 

There were rarely any blessed in the slums, if they were to get blessed they would immediately leave the slum and look for a job as a hunter or any other type of job. There were a certain few who would rather be the head of a snake rather than the tail of a dragon. Even after getting Blessed they either stayed or came back to the slums to exercise their power. 

Arthur could remember seeing his status in his earliest memory. He assumed that everyone had one, when he asked his adopted mother she explained it to him. Her Late Husband had a status, it was very rare in the slums, and she didn't know much about it. She told him that certain people are given a blessing from heaven and they receive powers and a status. Also that people's worth is decided from their blessing. If their blessing is good, they'll live a good life, if bad then they'll have to either live a ordinary life or join the military as a foot solider. There is a war against monsters and humans are losing.

Humans territory is a small percentage of the planet. That's common knowledge but knowing exact details are not for the people of slums to know or care.
