Chapter 5 - Don't let her out of your sight

Chapter 5

"It's just a stupid vase, I would replace it" she replied strolling casually into the apartment her eyes scanned the surrounding. The apartment exuded modern elegance, with sleek, minimalist furniture and floor-to-ceiling windows that offered breathtaking city views. Open spaces, refined décor, and luxurious finishes created an atmosphere of sophisticated comfort.

"Wanna guess how much that 'stupid vase' costs?" He asked, his voice tight, interrupting her thoughts.

"A few hundred bucks? You don't have to sound so mad just because I broke a vase. I'll replace it for you if you love it so much " she shrugged unconcerned, then continued scanning the apartment.

"You have no clue, do you princess? That vase you just broke costs 1.3 million dollars" he replied clenching his teeth

Natasha laughed brushing him off "you are joking right"

"Do i look like I'm making one" he asked

Natasha's eyes widened as she hurried over to the shattered pieces on the floor.

"You mean this baby right here costs that much, wait, why in the world would you buy a vase that costs 1.3 grands, is the vase some kind of magic cauldron that can see the future or grant three wishes?" she scolded

"Well, no I just..."

Drogen blinked, struggling to regain control of the conversation. How had she turned this around?

"If you're this desperate to throw money away, why don't you just wire me some? I'll find a better use for it!" she added.

He opened his mouth to retort but froze, his eyes narrowing. "Shh. Someone's here."

"Who is..." She was still talking when Drogen suddenly moved with a super human speed and slammed the intruder against the wall with a force that cracked the plaster. Natasha let out a startled squeal.

"Whoa relax! it me" the man who he pinned to the wall spoke as he surrendered with his hands in the air

Drogen released him with a scowl. "Bruce. What are you doing here?"

"Checking on your mess, obviously!" Bruce snapped, brushing dust off his coat. "Do you have any idea how many grim reapers have been sent out because of what you did?"

"What I—" Drogen hesitated, glancing at Natasha.

"Excuse me," Natasha interrupted, arms crossed. "Who's this guy, and why does he look like he stepped out of a Halloween costume party?"

Bruce turned to her, eyes narrowing. "Wait. Human? You can see me?"

"Uh, yeah. Are you also a grim reaper?" she asked, her brow raised.

Bruce blinked, then looked at Drogen. "This is the human you revived, isn't it?"

"Obviously," Drogen said dryly.

Bruce frowned. "You do realize what you've done, right? She shouldn't even be able to see me unless she's about to die! And now, thanks to your little stunt, every reaper out there is gunning for her."

"Charming," Natasha muttered.

Bruce's eyes narrowed further. "Let's test something. Human, come here."

"Uh, no thanks," Natasha said, stepping back.

Bruce's tone turned sharp. "Take this knife and stab him."

Natasha recoiled. "Why do you guys keep asking me to stab someone like it's the easiest thing to do. No way!"

"If you don't, I'll kill you right now and drag your soul to the afterlife myself," Bruce said coldly, his eyes glinting.

Drogen stepped forward, voice like steel. "That's enough, Bruce."

Bruce smirked. "You know I'm right. If she's 'special,' we need to know." He turned to Natasha, lowering his voice mockingly. "Scared, human?"

"Scared? Of course I am. Any normal human will be scared in this situation." Natasha replied, moving closer to Drogen for protection. Right now, he seemed like the least person who will harm her, and she oddly felt safe with him. Why? She had no fucking idea.

Bruce chuckled. "Fine. But mark my words, Drogen. The reapers won't stop, and if you're not careful, she's as good as dead. My advice? Don't let her out of your sight." And with that, he disappeared into thin air.

"What the hell just happened" Natasha asked as she heaved a sigh of relief that he was gone.

"You heard what he said, the moment you are out of my premises, you are a goner." drogen said, his tone icy as he walked away.

"Then how do I go to work, my life doesn't revolve around you, I need to make a living you know" she said as she hurried after him

"I could just buy the company you work for, that way, I'll be everywhere you go." he replied nonchalantly

"Creepy! How much money do you have anyway" she asked, her curiously springing.

"I don't know, I've lived for centuries, my wealth accumulated so much over the years that I've lost track" he shrugged

He led her to a room and opened the door, she peeped from behind him and looked inside...the room was huge and stunning, a blend of warmth and sophistication that immediately put her at ease. A large, plush bed with crisp white sheets and a velvet headboard dominated the space, while soft, gauzy curtains hung around the floor-to-ceiling windows.

"You can have the guest room, I will have my assistant get your things tomorrow" he replied

"Okay, thanks, but I need to shower and change into clean clothes. these ones are already dirty "

"There are female wears in the closet, just pick one"

Her brow shot up. "So you've had women over several times huh, Just how many women have you brought here?"

" Why asking? Want to join the list?" he asked with a smirk, stepping closer and cornering her against the wall.

Natasha felt heat rise to her cheeks but held his gaze. She froze for a moment, not knowing what to say. Her heart beat accelerated as he gazed down at her lips. Girl, snap out of it . She quickly got hold of her composure as she tried to act cool. "Don't flatter yourself. I'm not into grim reapers"

She ducked under his arm and escaped into the room....her heart still not willing to calm down.

"Anyways, just don't mess anything, I don't like a messy house so be sure to replace things the way you met them" he replied before walking out of the room.

It was after he left that he looked down below his groin to realize that the brief tension between them moments ago had actually made him aroused, that had never happened before, with other women, he had to go through a lot of foreplay before they had any effect on him, but here he was, getting hard from just staring at her lips.

He brushed off the thought and went into the bathroom to take a shower, but as soon as he stepped out, a towel around his waist, he sensed their presence, Grim reapers, forty of them had surrounded the building.

A mischievous grin spread across his face as he dressed. It looked like he was about to have some fun.
