Chapter 30 - Pain and torture

Chapter 30

Drogen teleported straight to the politicians house. He was not going to deal with them with brutal force but he still wanted to scare them a little.

The mansion reeked of luxury and extravagance. They seemed to be asleep since it was midnight after all. Drogen could smell sinners from miles away.

He didn't need to search for too long before he located the teenage boy.

Sleeping like he doesn't have blood on his hands, Drogen thought grimly.

In one swift move, Drogen grabbed the boy by the collar, lifting him with ease as though he were weightless. Lucian's eyes snapped open, panic spreading across his face like wildfire. In an instant, Drogen teleported with him to the rooftop.

"What the—? Who are you? Put me down!" Lucian struggled, thrashing in Drogen's iron grip.

"Shut your trap before i leave you to fall down this roof"

Lucian's protests died in his throat. His breaths came fast and shallow as the realization of how serious the situation was, on careless move and he would fall a the way to the ground and die instantly.

"What do you want from me, please don't throw me down...I'll do anything" lucian begged, his voice and body trembling from fear.

"Do you remember her?" Drogen asked, holding up a photo of that woman's daughter. The woman had handed him the photo at the last moment before she was taken away by the Grim reapers.

Lucian squinted at the photo. His face twisted in confusion and frustration. "What the hell? I've never seen her before in my life!" he snapped. "Is this some kind of joke? Who are you, and why are you dragging me into this?"

Drogen's grip tightened, his knuckles whitening. His burning eyes bore into Lucian's soul. "You've got some nerve, kid. Let's see if a little fall jogs your memory."

Without another word, Drogen released his hold.

Lucian's scream tore through the night as he plummeted. His body hit the ground with a sickening thud. Bones snapped, and blood pooled around his broken form. His mouth gurgled, his eyes wide with disbelief and pain. Within moments, his lifeless body went still.

Drogen teleported back down to the boy's mangled corpse. He crouched, his shadow stretching like a vengeful specter. With a wave of his hand, Lucian gasped back to life, his body whole again.

Lucian's scream was almost louder this time. "What the hell is happening?!" he shrieked, clawing at the ground to get away. "Who are you?! What did you do to me?!"

Drogen smirked coldly. "Dying feels incredible, doesn't it?" he mocked.

Lucian was trembling uncontrollably now, tears streaming down his face. "Please! Stop! I'll do anything! That hurt like hell!"

"Now look more carefully cause I'm gonna ask again." Drogen held the photograph in front of Lucian's face, his voice a low growl. "Do you remember her now?"

Lucian's eyes darted to the photo, his hands shaking as he reached for it. This time, he really looked. Recognition flickered across his face.

"Emily," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Emily from our class."

Drogen leaned closer, his cold breath brushing against Lucian's ear. "And what happened to Emily?"

Lucian hesitated, his gaze darting around as though searching for an escape. "I…I don't know. She dropped out or something—"

Before he could finish, Drogen's hand moved to his neck, as if to strangle him. Lucian screamed. "She's dead! She's dead!"

Drogen stilled, his fiery eyes narrowing. "And how did she die?"

Lucian swallowed hard. "We…we killed her." His voice cracked, his words barely audible over the wind.

"Look, it was a mistake, we were just having a little fun, we just...."

"Shut your mouth before I snap your neck "

Lucian obeyed, his body quaking. He had no doubt now that this man—this thing—was not human.

Drogen stood, towering over him like a predator savoring its prey. "Humans like you don't deserve to walk this earth," he said, his voice devoid of pity. "But I'm not just here to end you. I'm here to make you wish you'd never been born."

Lucian whimpered, his will crumbling under Drogen's cold, relentless gaze. "Please…I'll do anything…"

"Then get ready for hell," Drogen said. His words were final, like the toll of a death bell.

By the time Drogen returned home, the first rays of dawn were creeping over the horizon. He had spent the entire night tormenting Lucian in ways that defied human comprehension. Again and again, he killed the boy—each death more excruciating than the last—and revived him, only to start all over. By the time he was done, Lucian's voice was gone, his throat raw from screaming, his body trembling with pain and terror.

When it was over, Drogen returned Lucian to his lavish bed, laying him down as though nothing had happened. By the time the boy woke up, he would think it had all been a horrible nightmare—one that would cling to him like a shadow for the rest of his life.

But Drogen wasn't finished. Before he left, he'd pried the names of the others—the friends who had joined in Emily's murder. Their time would come. One by one, Drogen would make them pay. And when he was done with his retribution, they'd serve their time in jail, paying for their sins in the mortal world as well.

Natasha woke up feeling drained, despite the deep, dreamless sleep she'd just had. Her body ached in ways she couldn't explain, a dull fatigue hanging over her like a cloud. As she stretched, a sharp pain in her abdomen made her wince.

Oh no… not now.

It hit her like a wave—the familiar, gut-wrenching cramps that came with her period. Her stomach squeezed, and she let out a groan as the pain intensified. She glanced at the clock and sighed in relief. At least it's the weekend.

But something felt off. She frowned as she looked around the room, her memories foggy. The last thing she remembered was soaking in the bathtub, trying to relax. But now she was in bed, tucked under the covers, clean and dressed in fresh clothes.

Her cheeks flushed as realization struck her. Drogen.

The thought of him carrying her from the tub, dressing her, and tucking her in made her face burn with embarrassment. Couldn't he have just woken me up? she thought, burying her face in the pillow. But the heat of her blush was quickly overshadowed by the stabbing pain in her abdomen.

Natasha let out a frustrated sigh. Her cramps were unbearable—so bad she could barely move, let alone take care of herself. Her mother had always been the one to comfort her during these times, preparing hot water bottles and making tea to ease the pain. But her mom wasn't here now, and Natasha had no idea how she was going to manage.

The thought of asking Drogen for help sent another wave of embarrassment crashing over her. He's a reaper! He probably doesn't even understand what periods are, she thought bitterly.

But as another cramp twisted through her stomach, she realized she didn't have much of a choice.
