Chapter 51: If One Plan Fails, Come Up With a Second One!
Seeing Uchiha Obito chasing after him, Uchiha Yi realized that his capture plan had essentially failed.
He sighed inwardly but felt little regret. Fortunately, it was just a Fire Shadow Clone, and even more fortunate that it could transform into an element. Otherwise, if it had been his real body just now, it would have been GG!
Ninja—what a fragile profession!
One careless moment, and you could lose your life!
The shattered shadow clone's arm reformed, returning to its original state.
When Uchiha Obito and Kakashi saw this, they were stunned. Logically, after being struck by Kamui, Uchiha Yi should have at least been severely injured. Yet, not a drop of blood was shed. This could only mean one thing: this Uchiha Yi wasn't the real one, but a shadow clone.
But if it was a shadow clone, how had it withstood such an attack without breaking apart? Moreover, it recovered automatically!
What kind of ninjutsu is this? Obito and Kakashi thought in unison. It's incredible!
After recovering, Uchiha Yi glanced at Obito with an unfriendly expression.
"What's wrong, Ah Fei?" he asked mockingly. "What's with that look? Didn't you say you were going to destroy Konoha? Is that done now? And why are you yelling at me? As an intern in the organization, are you always this rude to your seniors? Didn't your parents teach you better manners?"
Uchiha Yi knew full well why Obito was angry and chasing after him, but since those reasons were deeply personal, Obito wouldn't dare to voice them publicly. So, Uchiha Yi took full advantage of the situation, launching a verbal attack laced with sarcasm.
"I…you…"
Obito stammered, suddenly at a loss for words. Uchiha Yi's words had struck a nerve.
Obito quickly realized that he had no legitimate reason to interfere with what Uchiha Yi was doing to Kakashi. Unless he revealed his true identity and admitted that Kakashi's Sharingan originally belonged to him, there was no valid justification for his actions.
But am I willing to abandon my identity as Ah Fei? Obito wondered, caught in a dilemma.
For a moment, Obito stood there, completely flustered. Uchiha Yi's pointed remarks left him stammering and unable to form a coherent response.
"Alright, Ah Fei!" Uchiha Yi said, feigning exasperation. "If you have nothing else to say, don't bother me!"
With that, Uchiha Yi made a show of preparing to do something indecent to Kakashi right in front of Obito.
"Wait!"
In desperation, Obito shouted, stopping Uchiha Yi in his tracks.
"What now?" Uchiha Yi asked coldly, feigning impatience.
"I…I…" Obito stammered, frantically searching for a way to resolve the situation without revealing his true identity. As Uchiha Yi's expression grew colder, Obito suddenly had an idea and blurted out a clumsy excuse.
"Hahaha! I'm sorry, Senior Ah Huo!" Obito said, scratching his head and putting on his usual silly demeanor. "It's just that I've heard Konoha has a very powerful Copy Ninja named Kakashi. I've always wanted to see how strong he is—or if he's just a loser! So, Senior Ah Huo, could you…um…give Kakashi to me?"
"Absolutely not," Uchiha Yi replied bluntly, his refusal so decisive that it left Obito visibly deflated.
Obito's attempt to lower suspicion only made things worse. Both Uchiha Yi and Kakashi exchanged strange looks, with Kakashi silently observing Obito. A familiar feeling nagged at him, but he chose to remain quiet.
"Then, Senior Ah Huo, what would I need to do for you to give Kakashi to me?" Obito asked, clearly unwilling to give up.
"Oh? So, you're saying you're willing to pay a high price for Kakashi?" Uchiha Yi replied, his tone teasing as he stared at Obito coldly.
Obito, completely unaware of how poorly he was acting, didn't realize how obvious his intentions were. His flustered demeanor and feeble excuses made him appear suspicious to anyone with half a brain. Yet Obito himself remained oblivious.
Uchiha Yi, however, was too lazy to expose him. He simply watched Obito's performance in silence, amused.
Realizing that obtaining Kakashi's Sharingan directly might be impossible now that Obito had appeared, Uchiha Yi decided to pivot. He would focus on Obito instead and negotiate for something useful.
If one plan fails, come up with another!
"Hahaha, Senior Ah Huo, you must be joking!" Obito said, trying to laugh it off. "A piece of trash like Kakashi is worthless!"
"Really?" Uchiha Yi smirked. "Then, here's my price: 100 White Zetsu corpses, all the Uchiha clan's forbidden techniques, and ten pairs of Sharingan."
"Impossible! Senior Ah Huo, you're being unreasonable!" Obito protested, rejecting the outrageous demand without hesitation.
"Then forget it," Uchiha Yi said casually, ending the conversation. His right arm transformed into lava, emitting black smoke and intense heat. The temperature soared, making Kakashi feel like he was about to melt.
Obito panicked. He didn't want to push Uchiha Yi too far, so he quickly changed his tone.
"Senior Ah Huo, wait a moment!" Obito pleaded. "Your request is too much, but I can make a counteroffer: 100 White Zetsu corpses, any two Uchiha forbidden techniques, and one pair of Sharingan!"
"Deal!" Uchiha Yi agreed, knowing when to stop. He didn't want to push Obito into radical action, which might accelerate the Moon Eye Plan—a scenario that would ultimately work against him.
As for Kakashi discovering Obito's identity, Uchiha Yi wasn't too concerned. He doubted Kakashi would spread the information.
