Chapter 3 - Adjusting to a New Body

---

Morning sunlight filtered through the cottage's window, casting a warm glow on the two friends resting side by side. Louie stirred awake first, squinting at the unfamiliar surroundings and, even more perplexing, the unfamiliar sensations. She blinked, momentarily disoriented, and then it all came rushing back—their sudden transportation to a strange world and, of course, her transformation.

"Man, what a wild dream," Louie muttered, rubbing her eyes—only to freeze as she glanced down, seeing the delicate, feminine hands, the strands of soft blue ombre hair brushing her face. Her new form was unmistakable.

Kairo stirred beside her, his eyes half-open as he gave a sleepy smile. "Good morning… Louie."

Louie sighed, feeling a strange mix of embarrassment and intrigue. "Morning, Kairo," she replied, her voice still foreign to her own ears. She sat up, only to feel a sudden cramp in her abdomen that made her wince.

Kairo noticed, his brow furrowing with concern. "You okay?"

Louie forced a smile, feeling another dull ache radiate from her lower belly. "Uh… yeah. Just… let's say being a girl isn't exactly comfortable."

Kairo chuckled, assuming it was just a muscle cramp. "Well, adjusting to a new body isn't easy. You've practically become someone else overnight."

Louie tried to shake off the discomfort, but it only seemed to intensify. She could feel the awkwardness of her situation settling in, and a bit of her usual humor kicked in as a coping mechanism.

"Hey, Kairo, do you have any idea how weird this is?" Louie grinned, trying to lighten the mood. "Like, this body is beautiful and all, but inside, I'm still the same hilarious guy I've always been. And now… I feel like I'm being pranked by my own body!"

Kairo laughed, trying to be supportive. "I'll give you credit for handling it well. I mean, it's a big adjustment."

"Oh, you have no idea," Louie replied, her smile fading as another cramp hit. She tried not to grimace, but Kairo noticed.

"Are you sure you're okay?" he asked, a little more serious now.

Louie hesitated. "Well… it's, uh, different. Let's just say this body has its own… routines." She sighed, realizing there was no way to explain it without being blunt. "I think I might be dealing with, um… 'girl stuff' for the first time."

Kairo's eyes widened slightly as he put the pieces together. "Oh. Right. I didn't even think of that." He glanced away, clearly unsure of what to say.

Louie groaned, resting her head in her hands. "This is going to be rough."

The two friends spent the morning navigating the challenges of Louie's new body, sharing jokes and laughter along the way to ease the awkwardness. Louie's discomfort didn't go away, but with Kairo's help, she managed to power through.

As night fell, they settled in to sleep again, lying side by side in the cozy cottage bed. They'd always been close, and though Louie's transformation had changed a lot on the outside, deep down, they were still the same best friends.

Louie turned to Kairo, her usual humor returning. "You know, sleeping in the same bed feels a bit different now that I'm like this."

Kairo chuckled, brushing it off with a smirk. "Oh, come on. It's just you, Louie. This world can throw us into any kind of weird situation, but we're still the same, aren't we?"

Louie smiled, feeling a warm reassurance. "Yeah, you're right. We're still us." She laughed, her voice softening. "But if this world thinks I'm gonna be some kind of helpless princess, they've got another thing coming. I may look like this, but I'm still… well, me."

Kairo smiled back, the bond between them unchanged, even as they drifted off to sleep in this new world, side by side. They didn't know what tomorrow would bring, but they knew one thing: no matter how things changed, they would face it together.
