Many people may be confused about Kai's swordsmanship, but it's actually simple.
What Kai uses is the swordsmanship from three Stances: The Ghost stance, the Dream stance and the Void stance.
The Ghost stance is focused for stealth, and confusion as we saw in the spar against Hanzo, where he used the Doppelganger Movement which was the second movement, this is also the only movement he can master from this stance.
The Dream stance focuses on the subconscious realm, as we can see in the Dream Domain, when he actually deals an Area of Effect debiff to enemies. This stance is also useful for mental training, as it compliments each other well. The dream stance consists of Seven Movements: The first is DreamWalker.
Second is Peacefull Dream, which allows him to create an Area of Effect where he cannot be harmed, this costs a lot of Qi though which Kai doesn't have.
Then we have the Dream Domain's four movements:
Lucid dream, this movement enhances the opponent's pain by twofold.
Nightmare, this movement slows opponent's down, alters the terrain, and creates hallucinations for the opponent.
Revelation, this movement requires tremendous Qi, to see 20 seconds into the future.
Sleep walker, this domain allows his senses to be twice as sharp except for his eyes, he will dodge on instinct, and have a fifty fifty chance of getting hit. His body basically goes into autopilot. This ability will render his eyes useless for thirty seconds after each use.
Currently these are all the sword movements of the dream stance.
Finally we have the Void stance, this is the stance of the VoidGuard, which he received from the old man, Kai unlocks these stances by gaining more Void Aura, at the previous chapter we saw that after he took down the bandits, his Void Aura unlocked, which caused him to experience a surge in power. This ability not only unseals his abyssal form, but also gives him the power of the VoidGod Alziac which we will learn about later.
The first stance of this movement as you already saw is the one strike which he used to defeat the snake. This uses condensed Void Aura, and can cut through anything. Anything lower leveled that him might I add.
Currently Kai must unlock all of these abilities if he wants to find a way home.
