Chapter 1 - Chapter 1- The Breakup

*Ring Ring*

"Why isn't she picking up my call?" Chris muttered.

*Ring Ring*

*Ring Ring*

"What?" Said Linda in an annoyed tone.

"Why aren't you picking up my calls?" Asked Chris.

"Chris, I have said it already. I'm breaking up with you." Said Linda.

"But Why?!!" Asked Chris, sounding a little desperate.

"You... are you really asking that?" Asked Linda angrily.

"You beat Adam so bad. You fractured his leg; he is in Hospital right now."

"You know I don't like that guy." Said Chris in an annoyed voice.

"He is my friend, Chris."

"And this is the reason why I don't like him. If not, I wouldn't even care about him."

"You don't understand, Chris." Said Linda with a sigh.

"No, you don't understand it, Linda!!!" Chris said.

"And I know what he is up to. He should be grateful that I only broke his leg. But, even now, if he doesn't understand, then-"

"Then? Then what?!! You are going to kill him?!! You want to be a criminal?" Said Linda angrily.

"You… Why are you fighting with me? And for that guy?!!"

"What's your problem, Linda?!!."

"My problem is YOU, Chris, YOU. You didn't even realize your mistake or even apologize for it."

"Why should I apologize? I didn't do anything wrong."

"This is what I'm talking about, Chris. Even now, you are not admitting your mistake."

"I shouldn't have come into a relationship with you, Chris. You made me regret it. Don't call me again; I hate you." Said Linda in a low tone as she ended the call.

"Linda wai-"

*Beep Beep*

"FUUUCCCK." Shouted Chris.

"Why?" said Chris in a sad tone.

*Click*

"Why are you shouting, Chris? And don't abuse in the house." Said Chris's mom as she entered the room.

"Come, the dinner is ready. And pack all your stuff; we are going to your grandpa's house tomorrow. It's his birthday."

"I'm not in the mood, Mom. I'm not going anywhere; please leave, Mom." Said Chris in a low tone.

"Is anything wrong, son?" Said his mom as she heard Chris's voice.

"Nothing's wrong, mom. Just leave me alone." Said Chris in the same tone.

"...." His mother stared at him for some seconds and silently shut the door as she left the room.

As Chris saw his mom had left, he lay down in his bed and stared at his ceiling.

"Shit," he said as tears came to his eyes.

—-----------------------------------------

In the dining room, Chris's father was sitting alone, waiting for his wife and son so they could have dinner.

"Where are they? I'm hungry." He muttered.

"Honey!!" He heard his wife's voice.

"Why are you?" He turned around and stopped talking as he saw concern all over his wife's face.

"What happened?!!" He Asked.

"Chris, he-"

"What happened to Chris?!?" He interrupted his wife as he suddenly jumped from his chair.

"I don't know. He didn't tell me; I guess he doesn't love me as much as he loves his father." She said it in a sad tone.

"Well, that's true." He said it with a sweet smile.

"Go, check on him." She said as she shot a glare at him as she saw him smiling.

"Well, I'll go check on him." He said as he saw her glaring at him and almost started to run towards his son's room.

He didn't want to make his wife angry. He didn't want to experience women's anger again. It is very dangerous.

'Good thing he still fears me.' Chris's mother smiled slightly as she thought inwardly.

But her smile soon faded when she thought about her son.

'What could have happened?' She thought inwardly, concern all over her face.

—-------------------------------------

*Click*

Chris's father peeked into his son's room; the lights weren't on; it was all dark, and he couldn't see a damn thing.

"Son." He said softly as he turned on all the lights in the room.

There, he saw his son lying on the bed, his one hand covering his eyes. But he still sees the mark left by tears on his cheeks.

"Son, what happened?" he said softly. But no reply came from Chris.

He was still in the same position; he didn't move an inch.

"I know you're awake; tell me what happened."

Still no reply from Chris.

His father stared at him for some seconds.

"Don't ever call me father if you can't even tell me your problem!!" He said in a strict voice.

He stared at him for a few seconds, expecting a response. But Chris stayed still.

"Fine!!!" He said in an angry voice when he got no response from Chris and started leaving the room.

"Linda…" Chris muttered softly as his father was about to leave the room.

His father stopped when he heard Chris.

'Emotional Blackmailing is the best.' He thought inwardly.

"Linda? Your girlfriend?" He asked Chris.

"Hmm…" Chris hummed, still lying in bed.

"What about Linda?" He inquired.

"Sh.. she broke up with me." Said Chris almost like a whisper.

"What? Why?!!" asked Chris's father with concern.

"Because I beat Adam. I hate that guy, Father. I know he doesn't have good thoughts about Linda." Said Chris in anger in his voice when he said Adam's name.

"I guess... everything's my fault, father." Said Chris in a whisper.

His father was just silently listening to him. Sometimes you just need to hear the other person; at least their heart can be free from their thoughts.

"Don't worry, son, everything's going to be all right." His father said, comforting him a little.

He doesn't care about that Adam guy. He trusts his son very much.

Even now, Adam doesn't stay within limits, so he has to handle him.

"No, Father, it's over." Chris muttered.

"Linda told me she hates me; everything's over. My love... is over."

"..." His father just stared at him, feeling sad for him.

He knows that now words will not affect his son; he has to find some other ways.

There was an awkward silence in the room after some time when his father suddenly got up and left the room.

Even then, Chris just stayed in his position, motionless.

—----------------------------------

"Honey, What are you doing?" Chris's mother asked as she entered her bedroom.

She saw her husband running toward their bedroom, and she called him. But he didn't answer. So, she also went after him.

"Finding something." Chris's father said as he started going through their almirah.

"What? Tell me, maybe I can help," she said as she came near her husband.

"A cure, and no, I can find it myself." He said as he opened a locker.

'A cure? For what?' she thought inwardly.

"Tell me, what is- "

"Found it!!!" He shouted as he picked up an object covered with a cloth from the locker.

"A book?!" His wife asked as he removed the cloth.

The object covered in the cloth was a book.

"No, it's a diary."

His wife looked at him with a deadpan expression.

"Who's dia-"

His wife didn't even complete his sentence as he suddenly left the room.

"At least, let me complete my sentence!!" His wife shouted, but he didn't bother listening to her.

His attention to Chris was most important right now.

—--------------------------------------------

"I'm back." Chris's father said as he entered Chris's room again with a food tray in hand.

Chris stared at his father but didn't say anything. He was now sitting on his bed.

There were no marks left by tears on his cheeks; he should have washed his. His father smiled as he saw him.

'Well, at least he has lightened up his mood.' he thought inwardly.

"Eat this." He said as he put the food tray on his bed.

Chris didn't say anything and just stared at the food.

"Eat this, and I'll tell you your problem's solution." He said it with a resolute tone.

Chris just stared at his father for seconds and started eating his food.

Truthfully, he was getting hungry, and his father would not lie to him, right? Right?!!

Well, you can't trust your parents on this matter; they will promise you everything when you haven't eaten anything.

But, after eating, their promise is like a politician's promise.

After some time, Chris finished his food and stared at his father.

"What?" His father asked.

"The solution."

"Oh, right. I forget about that." He said as she chuckled.

Chris just stared at him expressionlessly.

"Here." His father said as he cleared his throat and handed him a book.

"You kidding? A Book?!" he asked his with irritation.

"Nope, and It's a diary, not a book." His father said.

Chris just stared at his father and saw that he was serious about it.

So, Chris took that book from it.

"Now, read this diary and be ready tomorrow morning. we are going to your grandpa's house tomorrow, It's his birthday." His father said sweetly as he picked the tray from the bed and left the room as he shut the door.

"So, what happened?" Chris's mother asked his father outside the room.

"Leave him alone. I'm very hungry." He said as he started walking.

"At least, tell me what is that diary is," she said.

"Come fast, or I'll eat without you."

"Am I even a part of this family?!!" She said in frustration and went after her husband.

Chris listened to his parents talking and then stared at the book in his hands.

'This will help me?' Chris thought inwardly.

Books or diaries, I know, are very valuable sources of information, but in this situation?

Well, there goes nothing; his father will not con him, hopefully.

"Love, a feeling so complicated yet so simple." Chris started reading as he opened the book.

A feeling so strong that it is sought by everyone.

The feeling that can make you smile even at your worst with just a 'Hi', I couldn't think I could feel it, not in this life.

Then, she came with a sweet smile that illuminated the light in my life so brightly that darkness ceased to exist.

My incredible days, that special feeling, and that smile on my face—she brought it all to life as she came into my life.

She… my everything… my love.

The love of my life.
