"How peaceful." I muttered as I thought wistfully about how the present peace could be maintained. I wasn't oblivious to how long lasting peace in this particular world was an unattainable goal. Yes another world, nothing here matched my common sense so it was another world.
Given how there was mana everywhere I had gone and how everyone around had a certain capacity to withhold mana in them, except the short kid then peace would never be an option.
Take me as an example, I had already been almost assaulted once while in this town. What was it called again, Kaki or was it Kikka. In the robber's defense, I did go to the most dangerous looking area as my first destination.
But it wasn't like it was purely my fault, the place was shady to begin with, meaning it was the best place to get money and information. The result may have been some broken bones for some strangers but in my books it was worth it. For me obviously not them.
At the moment I was standing in front of a stall that was selling meat, bird meat I think.
With my hair tied in a bun, I picked up the greasy bird thigh and bit into it and man was it delicious.
Leaving the happily smiling owner with a few coins I made my way around with about a bucket sized amount of meat.
Some street food here and there, I found myself facing a stadium. It was very large, with magic mechanisms here and there, up and down, mostly below, probably hidden from your average citizen.
"Haaaa, how peaceful this kingdom is." I sighed as I once again wished that the peace in Clover kingdom wasn't a poorly hidden facade.
"That's an interesting statement you've said, what was that about 'this kingdom?"
Another annoying hindrance that can't seem to mind their own business asked.
The only distinct feature about her was probably the enormous amount of magic she contained, but not nearly refined enough for my taste.
I did sense her approaching me but saw no reason to runaway, maybe a little interested in what she was going to say but it was the same nonsense of interrogation. Maybe she's one of those 'nobles.'
Oops! That was too long a monologue so I turned to face the woman.
Short skirt, some useless armour, blonde hair, blue eyes,a pretty face and a hidden scowl on her face. Yes indeed, your typical independent woman.
"It has really delicious meat, that's all." I replied as I started leaving. She really looked like trouble which I didn't want to deal with at the moment.
But of course I couldn't, some vines were steadily holding my right foot. I could break them but I guess I'll play along for now.
"And what are you doing if I might ask?"
I asked and she played along,
"That's what I am here to find out. An unknown man with long purple hair, wearing armoured boots presumably attacked some magic knights while they were on a mission three days ago.I was just wondering if you've seen him around cause you seem to terribly match the provided description."
"Nope never seen him, saw a cool looking dude yesterday dressed this way so I decided to copy him. Now if you'd let me free, I am not in a hurry but being held hostage by a woman with that look on her face is giving me the creeps." I pretend shuddered as I replied to her.
Wow, talk about a fast change in expressions. She probably isn't used to dealing with unique people or maybe men in general, the scowl on her face becoming more apparent as an indicator.
"I guess, you are the offender, even if there are no other suspects. Now you better come with me quietly or..."
And she was talking to thin air. Don't want conflict, then run away and that's what I did.
The best place of escape was a crowded place and here I was trying more foods once again.
The only challenge was that to find out more really important information on magic knights and how this place really operated was to join a squad and thus far I've encountered three different ones and the most let's not say normal, maybe tolerable was the one with the loud kid. If I remember correctly they wore a black robe or something, just like the smoking gorilla heading straight towards me.
And like the good person, I was, I waited patiently.
"Oi, buddy! Ya don't happen to know the nearest place I can take a dump around here." He literally breathed smoke out of that cigar of his in my face.
Only good thing about this encounter was that he wasn't at all taller than I was, probably the same height. But like I said he was more of a gorilla. Like who even asks a random stranger for a place to take a shit.
"Don't know, then I guess you are the one." He said and I avoided the slash from his katana moving back a couple steps.
"Hey, Gorilla are you crazy, you could have hurt the innocent Clover citizens?" I was really surprised there.
"What citizens ya lady boy ." Well shit there was no one around.
"Julius wants to meet you but I don't think he'd mind if you had a few scratches. Take it as compensation for bullying the newest member of the Black bulls."
Right, it was time to leave but a dark energy mana blade cut my route of escape.
Hmm, if he wanted to play that badly then I'd play. Sumoning my spear, I took a stance and warned the gorilla.
" I hope a few scratches won't make you run away."
"Heh! run away, that's kind of your thing." He replied as he took another puff from that thing in his mouth.
His book, or was it grimore floated beside him as he took his own stance. I hope he can wield mana proportionally as well as the amount he possesses in his body.
And as the ground beneath me was smashed down, for the first time since forever, my rusty skills were finally getting a chance to be put in action.
