The eleventh death was brutal, but I'd come to expect nothing less from Gold D. Roger. His blade had pierced my chest yet again, and as I crumpled to the ground, he smirked down at me with that infuriating grin.
"You've got heart, kid," he said, planting his sword in the ground. "But heart alone alone won't cut it."
I staggered to my feet, clutching my sword tightly. "Lucky for me, I've got more than heart. Reset it old man. I'm not done yet."
The scene reset, and I faced him one more in the endless expanse of my mind space. This time, I wasn't just hoping to survive—I was ready to win.
Roger charged, his strikes impossibly fast and devastatingly powerful, but I moved with precision honed by every failure before this. I sidestepped his blade and counted with a strike of my own. He blocked effortlessly, but for the first time, I saw a flicker of approval in his eyes.
"Getting better," he said, pushing me back with sheer strength.
The fight continued, each clash of our blades shaking the ground beneath us. Sweat dripped from my brow, but I refused to give in. My movements became sharper, faster, more deliberate. I wasn't just surviving—I was keeping up.
Then, I felt it. A surge of energy deep within me, like a storm waiting to break free. My grip on my sword tightened as the air around me crackled with electricity.
"Call my name, and let the storm roar."
The voice echoed in my mind, and I smirked. Raising my blade high, I shouted, "Strike down the heavens, Takemikazuchi!"
In an instant, my sword transformed, crackling with golden lighting. Bolts of electricity surged through the air, illuminating the battlefield with blinding light. The sheer power radiating from me was overwhelming, and for the first time, Roger's grin faltered.
"Well, this just got interesting," he said, his voice tinged with excitement.
Roger's aura shifted. His body darkened as Armament Haki coated his sword, and his eyes sharpened, glowing faintly with the power of Observation Haki.
Our blades collided, and the resulting shockwave tore through the space. Lightning from Takemikazuchi clashed against the unyielding strength of Roger's haki-coated blade. The battlefield became a storm of energy, our movements too fast for any ordinary eye to follow.
Roger's grin widened as he lunged, his blade slicing through the air with deadly precision. I parried and counted, bolts of lightning exploding outward with every strike.
"You've got power," Roger said, his voice steady despite the chaos. "But can you control it?"
His question was answered as I unleashed Judgment Blot. A massive arc of lightning surged toward him, locked onto his spiritual energy. He deflected it with a powerful swing, but the force pushed him back, leaving an opening.
I surged forward, Takemikazuchi roaring with energy. Our blades clashed one final time, and with a burst of golden light, I drove my sword through his chest.
Roger staggered back, his grin still in place even as he fell to his knees. "You've earned this one, kid. Don't waste it."
The scene dissolved, and I returned to reality, my body trembling from the intensity of the fight.
The Ethereal Interface chimed.
