Chapter 2 - A new stage

Brian's lifelong goal was to become the strongest in the world. He dedicated himself to mastering various martial arts, but life had other plans.

Despite his hard work, Brian was average at everything. Frustrated and defeated, he considered giving up on his dream after being decimated in an MMA tournament.

As Brian walked home, lost in thought, the familiar street scenery shifted to a surreal white room. A faceless man sat behind a simple desk, his presence unsettling yet intriguing.

"So, you want to be the strongest?" the faceless man asked, his voice low and gravelly.

"Yes," Brian replied, determination burning within.

"I'll help you become the strongest in the world of Tanat," the faceless man said. "Tanat is a realm of wonder and danger, where magical energies shape the landscape. Ancient civilizations have left remnants of their power, and new factions vie for control."

"In Tanat, magical energies are fueled by Essence. There are six elemental affinities: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, and Dark. You'll discover your affinity soon enough."

Brian's curiosity piqued. "Why choose me? There are far more talented people."

The faceless man leaned forward, his empty face seeming to bore into Brian's soul. "I'm tired of choosing likely successes or hopeless cases. I want to see how an average person handles being transported to another world."

Brian's thoughts drifted to his parents, killed by a robber during an outing when he was young. Their loss fueled his desire for strength.

"I accept your proposal," Brian said finally. "Make sure to enjoy the show."

The faceless man chuckled, a dry, mirthless sound. "As soon as you wake up, open your status window. I left a gift for you there."

Brian felt a strange sensation and fell to the floor, losing consciousness.

He woke up in a lush forest, surrounded by towering trees and greenery, in the heartland of Eldrida, Tanat. A nearby pond reflected his image. Relieved to see his familiar face, Brian admired his dark skin, white hair, and brown eyes.

As he gazed, Brian sensed something behind him. Slowly turning, he froze, paralyzed by what he saw...
