Chapter 1 - Hell hole

Where the hell am I? I thought to myself as I looked at the bizzare sight that greeted my eyes.

Around me was a vast expanse of trees which eerily swayed due to wind under the silver hue of the moonlight.

How the hell did I get here? I clearly remember sleeping in my apartment. Thoughts raced through my mind as I failed to come to a swift conclusion.

Am I perhaps dreaming? But this feels too real to be just a dream. No matter how much I thought, I could not bring sense to my situation.

My name is Ivar, a typical nobody. I was orphaned at a young age, so I had to do a lot of work just to get through my everyday life. I did not have any priced possessions for which someone could kidnap me.

So, how the hell did I end up here? I screamed in my mind as the cold wind brushed against my skin, sending shivers down my entire body.

Finding no answers, I decided to look around, hoping to find any clues.

"Acho~" I sneezed, the cold was affecting my body.

I was a weak person, my body was scrawny, I did not have much muscle mass on my bones, so I was prone to getting tired and falling sick rather quickly.

"Just my luck." I mumbled under my breath as I took steps towards a tall tree near me.

The tree was quite tall, had a grey bark which really surprised me, I had not seen any trees with grey barks atleast not in real life, just on the internet.

I touched the bark, its surface was really smooth, unlike typical trees.

I walked past the tree and headed forward in a random direction.

The cold was really unbearable, I needed to find something to warm myself up.

As I was walking, the question of how I had ended up in this forest in the middle of night kept on pestering me inside.

The possible answers were all really bad, which did not help my racing heart in the slightest.

I wanted to run and hide somewhere warm, or just wake up!

Hopefully this is just a dream. I prayed in my heart sincerely.

My feet kept on moving as I arrived near a grassy bush.

It had pink leaves like that of a sakura tree. It looked absolutely stunning under the illumination of the silver moon, shining in the night sky amongst the dimly lit stars.

"What a sight!" I said out loud, clearly mesmerized by the beauty of nature.

However, in my daze, I failed to notice 2 crimson eyes locked on to me from another bush not too far away.

I suddenly heard a noise of a bush ruffling from my right. I quickly turned my attention towards the direction of the sound.

What greeted my sight were two orbs of crimson staring straight into my soul.

I could feel my heart being gripped by the hands of fear, my entire body spontaneously paralyzed at the sight.

A beast, a wolf the size of an adult lion stood before me. Its dark fur absorbed the moonlight like a hungry beast. Its jaw was huge with saliva dripping down through its knife like teeth.

My mind went into a frenzy, I couldn't think straight.

Wah... What is that? Wh... No this is a dream? Yes it is a dream. Yes it has to be! But what if it isn't? Why is there a wolf in my dream? Why does it look so real.

No matter how much I was convinced it was a dream, a small part of me knew deep inside, this was NOT A DREAM!

I wanted to listen to that part of me and run as far away as possible but...

My body was glued to one place, fear had drenched my entire body in cold sweat. I could not move, no matter how much I tried, my body wouldn't listen to me.

I was visibly quaking!

I kept staring into the red eyes of the big wolf, unable to do anything. I did not know if it was a dream, but my entire body begged for it to be the case.

I saw the big wolf move.

In a flash it was before me, my eyes went wide at its speed but before I could do anything, the beast opened its jaw to munch down on my head.

As I flet a sudden sence of dread wash over me, my body suddenly moved on instict.

I moved my left hand infront of me, in a desperate attempt to save myself. I closed my eyes, hoping to wake up any second.

However, what greeted me next was not my apartment room.

Instead... It was an absurd amount of pain.

My eyes shut open as I faced what was happening.

The wolf stood a few steps away from me, with something in its mouth. The thing dangled like a limp noodle.

At first it was hard to recognise what it was, but when I looked down towards my left, I instantly knew what it was.

It was my ARM!

My entire left arm had been bitten off by the ugly beast before me.

Blood gushed out like a fountain, I could feel a small puddle of blood from under my feet.

The pain I felt was not something I had felt ever in my life.

"Aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!" I screamed and cried on top of my lungs as I felt the pain course through my entire nervous system.

Tears flooded out of my eyes as my mind became a mess.

Only one thought 'This is not a dream!' Went through my head on repeat.

I grabbed the part where my arm had been severed, trying to stop the blood from leaking.

I could feel my body lose strength as more and more blood escaped my circulatory system.

Through the corner of my eyes, I caught glimpse of absolute horror.

I saw as the wolf holding my arm in its mouth slowly tore off its flesh and chewed on the bones. It didn't even bother to finish me off first, as if confident in killing me at any moment.

The scene portrayed a picture in my mind I had never seen before.

It was different from the cruelty of humans, this was far worse than anything I had ever experienced.

This was the apathy of nature!
