Outside Rayne was having a hard time keeping the elderly witch at bay. Magenta was the leader of the Renarian coven and did not hesitate to use her powers in public.
"I order you to desist from a public show before subnormals. Under the regulation for paranormal activity issued by the UN treaty of 1964 this is a punishable offence and I as a part of the paranormal army cannot let you continue." called out a voice from the corridor.
Rayne looked to find Gage standing there.
"You good for nothing mutt," Magenta cursed. "An Renarian witch doesn't have to follow your regulations. Do you not know that?"
"I have the authority to restrict any paranormal activity that threatens exposure to subnormals. I don't care if you are a true witch or an Renarian." Gage commented.
"Our queen is inside." Magenta forced.
"There is only the Aether Queen and her location is undisclosed." Gage reminded her.
Magenta closed her fist, calling her powers in a violent spell. That was when Rayne ordered her to stop and Magenta felt her powers leave her. She looked at Rayne. "What, how?" she stuttered.
"Gage is my destined mate. A witch that finds her destined gets her Aether powers. Unless you call on your coven you cannot overpower me Magenta. I am not allowing you to get inside the room." Rayne declared.
"Who is inside the room?" Gage asked.
"Aria, the real one and the fake one, Ada and Aria's husband, David. David asked me to keep them out till Aria and the fake one come to a conclusion about identity." Rayne explained.
"The real and the fake one?" Gage asked, still confused.
"It's a long story but there are two Arias inside. The one that had an accident isn't really my Riri, to begin with. My one got married instead." she clarified.
Gage blinked and then nodded and took his place beside his mate. Mr Dumont stood silent at the corner, worrying himself with the welfare of his children.
"Are you sure that this will work?" Ada asked in a timid voice, holding the scalpel gingerly in her hand.
"You only need to make a small cut. A drop of blood will suffice as a sacrifice. And since there are two of you, you can bounce the spell off each other. You don't need the entire coven with you. I can't participate as I am not an Renarian witch and neither can Aria as she is not a paranormal per se." David told her.
The sisters nodded as a thunderstorm brewed outside. Aria stepped closer to her husband. "What is going on? Am I causing the storm?" she asked.
"It's not you. I have your powers in check. Trust me. We are triple bonded. I can tap into your psyche and take over your powers anytime I want. You can do the same with me too but with practice." David elaborated.
Aria looked at him dumbfounded. David could see that it was not an answer that she wanted to hear. He did not want Aria to feel out of control.
"I will explain everything in detail but not right now. Being what I am our situation is a bit unique. I don't want to discuss it in the presence of your siblings," he whispered into her ears while rubbing his hands up her arms. Aria finally nodded in acceptance.
By this time the sisters had started chanting the spell that David had written down on a piece of paper. Inside the walls of the hospital room, their chanting reverberated till the sound reached outside. The storm outside escalated and Magenta realized what was happening.
"It was your idea, wasn't it? Since Belshazzar is taking a chosen mate you want to ensure that he is able to complete the bonds. The only way that can happen is if Renaria renounces her mate bond first. You clever little traitor. What are you gaining by helping that monster?" Magenta seethed in vehemence.
Rayne was surprised. She did not expect any chanting to come from outside. Aria had briefly told her that she knew about the paranormal. That didn't imply that she herself was a witch or something.
"I need to look inside," Rayne told Gage, who kept an eye on the older witch.
Rayne turned the knob to the hospital room when a flash of lightning blinded her. The lightning had come through the window and touched the witch sisters, granting them the powers of Renaria according to the capabilities of each. The impact of the power entering the two witches was enough to throw Rayne back from the doorway. David hid Aria behind him as he himself absorbed a large part of the residual energy. A few moments later Gage rushed in only to find the entire room burnt by the energy discharge. Only the four people inside looked relatively unharmed except for the small cut on the fingers of the two sisters.
Magenta Cadence charged in and hugged her two secret granddaughters. She had hidden the existence of her firstborn mage son and his daughters throughout her life. She had even hidden them from the coven, fearing that someone could be a mole working for the royals. Now there was no way of hiding them.
She turned around and faced David and Aria. "Who are you really?"
"I am offended that you forgot me, Maggie. It was you who said that a good girl never forgets her first even how much she tries. I am glad to know that I succeeded in erasing my memory from your mind. You created a fighter in Vallie though." he commented.
Magenta stepped back, the fear and shock registering among her wrinkles. "You chose a subnormal over your true mate?" she asked in shock.
"I gave up the throne for the woman I fell in love with. Being not the King I no longer needed to keep trying to fulfil the prophecy. The kingdoms are in better hands." David insisted.
"Is it?" It wasn't Magenta who sneered. David looked at Aria who seemed to be busy taking off the bandages from her face, the face that she healed with her newfound powers. Her hair and eyes did resemble the ones Aria had before but her face was more round than heart-shaped. Then he turned to look at Ada who had a mean expression on her face.
"You are the most stupid Noravian I have met Bael. You put yourself through voluntary rape to please your people for millennia only to leave them helpless when I finally find a willing enough host body," she pitied.
"Queen Renaria?" Magenta bowed hesitatingly.
Rage bubbled within David but before he did anything Ada spoke again. "Before you think of harming this child know one thing. I chose this body for a reason. Magenta is right. Ada was never your mate. Honestly, with your unique trait, no one can truly know who she is. But what I can tell you is this-Ada is a mate to a Noravian prince and though she has renounced the mate bond she is still his only way of having an heir. You don't want to come in between that now, do you?
